Chapter 16 - The Forsaken Land of the Gods (2)

"What are you worried about?" Audrey asked.

Derrick didn't hide anything and immediately recounted his successful plan and how he was sent to the bottom of the spire to be isolated for treatment. Finally, he asked, "Honorable Mr. Fool, will that mystical item detect my participation in the Tarot Club?"

Is that mystical item stronger than Sefirah Castle?

"No," Mr. Fool shook his head.

If anything, the Sun should be more worried about the person on the other side of the wall than that mystical item.

Derrick was immediately relieved. Then, he suddenly thought of what the former captain of the exploration team had told him. He blurted out a question, "Have any of you heard of a person named Amon?"

'Amon…'

The Fool hadn't only heard of Him, but even saw Him personally.

Recalling Amon's behavior after meeting His gaze through the Sun's crimson star, the Fool guessed that the Error pathway beyonder should already know his strength.

After all, the King of Angels hadn't taken further action afterwards, nor did He try to invade Sefirah Castle or attack him.

From another angle, the fact that that brat acted so well-behaved was very suspicious in itself. Should he exterminate that avatar just in case?

Fors listened with a blank face, feeling that the things discussed here were always outside the scope of her knowledge. Then, a thought flashed through her mind, recalling the book she gave to the Fool.

'Where does the Fool usually put the objects sacrificed to Him?'

Her gaze began to wander around.

Alger frowned and asked in confusion, "You ran into a man who called himself Amon while you were exploring the surrounding areas of the City of Silver?"

The Fool's spirituality was triggered, prompting Him to glance toward the members. As Fors discreetly looked under the table, the fog in that area began to get thicker.

Except for Miss Magician, nobody else noticed it.

Fors was thoughtful.

Audrey noticed her friend's strange behavior but was soon distracted by the ongoing conversation.

Curious, she interrupted the Fool's daze.

After all, she remembered that the Fool had mentioned Amon's name when he introduced the Kings of Angels.

"Mr. Fool?"

The Fool skillfully used divination to pretend he was listening all along and added, "It's not a family, 'Amon' is only one person."

Audrey's eyes lit up.

"Did you know Him personally, Mr. Fool?"

The Fool reflected on her question for a moment.

"…I was mostly acquainted with His father."

There was silence above the gray fog.

At the same time, all members sitting at the long table remembered what the Hanged Man had said not long before. Amon's father was the Ancient Sun God.

'Mr. Fool knows the Ancient Sun God?' Leonard sat up a little straighter.

As expected of a god.

Everyone's reactions entered Audrey's eyes, who then corrected her thoughts. From what she had observed, the Fool preferred talking on an equal standing than be seen as a god.

She pushed her feelings aside and decided to continue normally, "What are His abilities?"

The Fool pulled up his memories of the blasphemy slate and recited the powers of the Error pathway.

Once more, the Tarot Club members were stunned by the knowledge covering Sequence 9 to Sequence 0.

Seeing their reactions—including the Star having an inexplicable existential crisis at the mention of parasitic abilities, but he decided to ignore it—, the Fool also belatedly realized his mistake.

Miss Magician and Mr. Star, who had heard a lot of high-level mysticism knowledge since they arrived, began to believe that it was a normal occurrence in this gathering and were used to it. At the same time, the Sun looked at the god in awe.

As expected of Mr. Fool!

Meanwhile, Miss Justice tried to rectify the situation.

"Mr. Fool, this is very high level information. What do you want in exchange?"

…Oh.

He hadn't even planned to sell this information.

"…Gold pounds or food."

Audrey nodded, having expected it.

As for the Hanged Man, he was numb to it at this point.

The Sun tilted his head, not knowing what gold pounds were.

Miss Magician was reminded of the Fool's previous request for Desi pies. Should she buy more? But maybe the Fool wanted to try something else? She should ask him during the next Full Moon.

Fors thought for a moment, touched her face, looked around, and then asked with great sincerity, "Everyone, do you have any good ways of earning money?"

As soon as she finished her sentence, she realized that everyone had fallen into silence.

Silence could be described by the soundless palace and the quiet gray fog.

Fors wisely shut her mouth.

'From the looks of it, everyone faces this conundrum. As for Mr. Fool, he doesn't need money…'

No, Mr. Fool had mentioned gold pounds earlier. Did that mean that even gods needed money? However, He should have a lot of believers willing to offer their belongings to Him.

The Fool in question glanced at the gold pounds under the table, considering if He should find a way to help His only believer.

However, He was quite poor too.

'Should I give her a blessing?'

Alger turned his head towards The Sun, asking indifferently, "Have you gotten anything from the former captain of that exploration team?"

The Sun proceeded to explain how Amon appeared behind him and was dealt with by the chef, then how he prayed to Mr. Fool afterwards and discovered that he was possessed by Amon.

"Later, Mr. Fool taught me a ritual. Through the ritual, He sent his angel to purify Amon's avatar," Derrick replied without embellishing or simplifying anything.

'Angel?'

After a moment of blankness, Audrey's eyes shone with excitement. She couldn't help but wonder what Mr. Fool's angel looked like.

Fors recalled what had happened to her previously. She had only asked Mr. Fool to interfere with any divinations, and she ended up seeing a twelve-winged archangel descend, enveloping her Spirit Body with its wings.

'It really was an angel… Black wings, an archangel with twelve pairs of wings… And this really is just a routine procedure for Mr. Fool. He would send an angel to help members of the gathering get out of trouble…' Fors suddenly didn't dare to look up at the gentleman who was sitting leisurely at the end of the long bronze table.

'Angel? Mr. Fool really does have an angel by his side!' The Hanged Man felt a wave of fear and baffling excitement hit him, causing his body to tremble slightly.

As for Leonard, he wasn't surprised. Wasn't it obvious that a god would have angels?

Derrick didn't quite understand the reactions of Mr. Hanged Man and Miss Justice either. From his point of view, wasn't it normal that an angel served a god or a mighty existence?

Then, Miss Justice belatedly remembered something and tilted her head.

'Didn't Mr. Fool say He had no followers?'

As usual, the Fool silently watched everyone's reactions
