Chapter 2

Title: Sirius, the Brightest Star (2)

One day, a boy named Sirius died; according to the goddess, the cause of his death was the loss of synchronization between his spirit and his body.

The goddess suggested that he become a hero who would save a world from the apocalypse, but he refused her request.

Instead, he preferred to do something even more insane: to carry a seed that would give rise to a new tree capable of restoring a dead world.

The journey lasted 14 years. During this time, he accomplished many feats with the abilities given to him by the goddess.

When he planted the seed, his memories became confused.

Entities informed him that he had made a wish, and that wish was very costly. To fulfill it, he would have to prove his worth.

But he could not be sent to a new world in his current state, as he carried the essence of a god; in simpler terms, he "smelled like a god."

This happened because he had spent too much time alongside the goddess. Thus, they placed some curses on him, and the "scent" dissipated.

But why did they do something so severe, like taking away his vision, his fingers, shortening his lifespan, and erasing his memories?

And finally, Sirius was sent to the world he was supposed to save. However, along the way, the goddess intervened and, without warning, kissed him.

Sirius had spent years with the goddess in the dead world, but nothing like that had happened before, and even in life, he had never experienced anything like it.

It was a brief moment, but many things happened simultaneously.

°°°•••

In a place overtaken by despair, there were hundreds of dead beings; others fought frantically. It was a fierce battle between humans and monsters.

But instinctively, they stopped fighting and looked toward a point on the horizon. All the light was drawn from the battlefield.

The phenomenon of the light retreating did not happen only there; the entire planet was shrouded in night.

A light appeared in the sky. A huge pillar of light descended upon that world.

The light emitted by the pillar was so warm and welcoming, and everyone on that planet could see it from the same perspective.

It was a glorious phenomenon; looking at that light was like becoming eternally happy.

°°°•••

Sirius felt that he was falling. He didn't know what kind of danger awaited him. He slapped his cheeks and tried to pull himself together.

He stepped onto a rock.

The rock caught his attention; the entire ground seemed to be made of engraved stones.

He looked forward and was startled.

There stood a person. It had been years since he had seen something material that could move, so it scared him.

The person before him was a woman, kneeling and trembling. Sirius approached her.

"Good morning," he decided to greet her.

"We prayed, and our prayers were heard. Are you the one who will save us?" the woman said.

She had a voice that captivated anyone who heard it.

"..." Sirius did not respond, as he did not remember the promise to save that world and thus could not confirm anything.

The woman still had her head down. "Why don't you stand up, and we can have a more informal conversation?"

The woman raised her head.

Their eyes met, and at that moment, Sirius knew everything about her.

The same happened to her: she learned what abilities Sirius had and what they could do, but not about the owner of those abilities.

She only learned about Sirius's abilities, while Sirius learned everything about her.

"Saint Isabel?!"

"Did you call me, my hero?"

"I was testing something, but I need to cut my hair, take a bath, put on some clothes, and eat something. It's been more than 13 years since I've eaten anything."

"Understood, my hero. But I believe you should take your sword; there will be a banquet today to celebrate your arrival."

Sirius looked back and went to get the sacred sword that came with him. It was red, but it seemed different from the sword he had initially received.

The saint looked up and shouted, "Impossible!"

It was a loud cry. Sirius approached and asked, "What's impossible?"

"Didn't you receive the notification?" she asked, visibly sweating.

"I don't have--"

Sirius had been given several restrictions; one of them was not having access to the information the world provided to those who could change it.

The saint realized this, as part of her was him, and a small fraction of him was her.

She shared her vision with Sirius, and a window with some characters appeared.

[The supreme lord ambushed the great hero who descended.]

There was much to understand, but before Sirius could comprehend, it was already too late.

Cahssssssssssssss.

A strange sound came from the heavens, and Sirius and the saint looked up simultaneously.

A gigantic claw appeared.

Soon, another claw appeared on the other side; space was ripped in real-time.

A rift emerged in the sky. The rift was enormous, and from it came a dragon.

The dragon was completely white, so white that it looked like a sacred creature. He looked at Sirius.

Sirius understood the situation, turned, and tried to leave as quickly as possible.

The dragon inhaled and then exhaled a breath toward Sirius and the saint.

The saint stood in front of Sirius and blocked the attack of the being who reigned with absolute power over that world.

She was a person who never had the opportunity to grow because she was never beside a hero. But now she raised a shield to block an attack from the lord of that world.

A lord whom dozens of heroes could not subdue; trying to stop him was more than an insult.

The saint was torn apart, and Sirius, the weakest, was charred.

Sirius lost his vision. Everything seemed very strange, as if he had activated his ability more than a thousand times.

The saint got up and went to where Sirius's deformed body was. A green light appeared in her left hand, and she poured all the light into Sirius's body.

Sirius saw this and was stunned; the saint was in a grave condition but seemed to feel no pain.

She didn't even look at her own body. She simply put everything she had into healing Sirius.

Zap!

That was the end for both of them; a huge spear made of energy pierced through them.

The spear emitted an energy that seemed to corrode their souls and rot their bodies in real time.

Sirius and the saint were killed by the spear the supreme lord launched.

A hooded man appeared in the sky. He made some gestures, and a huge circle appeared beneath Sirius's and the saint's bodies.

Magic-made chains killed them both, and two white orbs emerged from their bodies.

He had extracted the souls of the dead; he seemed to be a servant of the white dragon.

The whole world went dark, as dark as it was before when Sirius descended.

The entire world was illuminated, literally the entire world, by a light that did not come from the sun but from a massive pillar of light.

The goddess descended upon that world.

She didn't understand why she had descended, but suddenly, she remembered the last ability she had given to Sirius.

Activating it, he would have the authority to call her in an extreme situation.

She looked down and saw Sirius's dead body.

He had been killed in a brutal way; she knew the saint and was close to her, but for some reason, she couldn't see anything but the body of the person for whom she had developed feelings.

That was the end for the goddess.

She was a supreme being; her power did not depend on physical strength but on a steady, unshakable mind.

Transcendent beings did not change, no matter what happened, but the goddess had changed. She spent a lot of time beside Sirius, and in that time, he was able to open up and show who he truly was.

Her existence, which was supposed to remain absolutely neutral, had changed. When it began, she didn't feel bad or embarrassed; on the contrary, she enjoyed it.

Wanting to enjoy more of these emotions, she altered Sirius's path several times, forcing him to wander around the planet.

As she was a constant being, she subconsciously categorized him the same way after spending so much time with him.

When other gods informed her that Sirius had made an absurd request that required many restrictions to be sent to an extremely dangerous world, she didn't care.

She knew the person for whom she had developed feelings in detail. She didn't bother to find out what he had asked for; she simply wondered how many months it would take him to cleanse the world he would be sent to.

But now, seeing her beloved's mutilated body, she forgot who she was.

The entire spirit of the goddess shattered.

She descended from the heavens and arrived where Sirius was.

It was terrible: all his skin was burned, his long black hair was incinerated, and a spear had brutally pierced his body.

Crek, crek…

The entire spirit of the goddess fractured completely, but she didn't even notice.

She appeared behind the hooded man, who smiled.

His head fell. It was strange because it didn't seem like he had been decapitated; it was more as if a hat had been blown away by a strong wind.

The goddess took the two souls that were in the hands of the headless man.

At that very moment, an elegant-looking man launched a spear embedded with almost all of his existence toward the goddess.

She didn't notice and was pierced. In that instant, she remembered who she was, as the man's spear carried sacred power.

He was a hero sent to save the world, but seeing the weakened state of the goddess, he thought of killing her and stealing her power.

The goddess remembered Sirius's words: "I don't want to have the authority to determine who lives or dies. If I have such power, I'll no longer be myself."

In the end, she saw that what seemed meaningless held great significance. A being once considered noble and sent to save the world now desired his own existence above all.

The goddess realized that her existence made no sense.

The white dragon bit into the goddess's spirit.

The first goddess had forgotten her own existence.

The goddess herself had determined that she wasn't something significant.

The goddess's spirit was corrupted.

More than one condition for a transcendental being to die had been fulfilled.

She took the white sphere in her left hand and kissed it.

She removed something from the larger sphere and placed it in the other sphere.

Her entire spirit unraveled. The hero struck her again, and the supreme dragon used his maximum power to attack her.

The two most powerful creatures in that world attacked the transcendental being with all they had.

The two different powers combined and pierced her.

A beautiful smile appeared on the goddess's lips.

"Feelings are a curse." It was unintentional, but her voice reverberated throughout the world.

"A cruel but sweet curse."

"I loved you, Sirius."

Tick!

A huge pillar of light emerged, not greater than the first two combined.

That was the end of a hero, a saint, and a transcendental being.
