Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine

"We're here."

I muttered, sighing in exhaustion, as I stopped the speeder in front of a giant rock towering over us, obstructing the sun.

"Finally!"

Ezra jumped off the speeder, looking up at the giant rock momentarily before turning back to me.

"Where are we?"

I chuckled, got off the speeder, and walked up next to him, staring up at the giant rock.

"I have no idea..."

I muttered, feeling the force pulse around the rock, calling out to me, telling me to do something, but I didn't know what. It was a rock, what could I do? Lift it?

But that seemed to be the only valid option right now.

"...Ezra, Check around the rock, see if there are any entrances."

The said pre-teen groaned and walked towards the rock while I sat down on the ground, looking around to try and spot anything that would indicate an entrance.

Nothing.

I sighed, looking down at the ground, and raising an eyebrow at the markings. I was sitting on what was clearly a pathway, that led straight into the rock...

I hummed, resting my chin on my arm. Maybe it was a lever-triggered mechanism? Maybe a secret code or something...

I closed my eyes, feeling the Force around me, trying to tune out the outside world and focus on the constant pulsing that surrounded me.

I could feel Ezra, who was on the other side of the rock, his trace almost overshadowed by the giant rock. I focused on it, trying to dive deeper.

And deeper I went... Surprisingly.

It was a temple, below the ground, and it only seemed to have one room. I took a deep breath as I guided the force around me, mixing with the abundance of it in the surroundings, guiding it to the temple.

I exhaled slowly, focusing, trying to figure out the easiest way to lift this whole ass temple, apparently, out of the ground.

What did I even need to lift something this heavy? Power? No, The Force made power irrelevant. What made the Jedi masters so different from the knights? Or even the padawans?

Midi-chlorian counts were constant, they didn't grow, and they didn't decrease. A higher could be the answer, but this temple was in use in the past, obviously.

Another breath, and I tried to lift it like I would lift anything else, a simple pebble. To the force, there should be no difference between this temple and a pebble, but there was a difference to me.

My body felt like a weight was pressing onto it, if I wasn't sitting, I was sure I would be on my knees right now. I was already exhausted, the minimal amount of sleep and the sleepless nights were taking a toll.

I just wanted to get this over with, I was exhausted, I wanted to sleep and this thing was just too heavy for me to lift it.

I felt the load lighten as Ezra's pulse joined up with mine around the rock. With the load divided between the two of us, it was more manageable, but it was still took a lot of effort.

As soon as the giant rock stopped lifting, I breathed out in relief, opening my eyes to see the entrance, with Ezra standing in front of it.

He turned to me, pointing at the entrance behind him with a grin on his face.

"Found it."

I deadpanned at him, unimpressed.

"Did you, now?"

I muttered, getting up from the ground and walking towards the entrance. Patting Ezra's head as I passed, I beckoned him to follow me, as I walked inside.

He followed behind me as we entered the temple, passing through the door. I scanned the room for a moment, raising an eyebrow at the scene in front of me.

Multiple corpses, always a pleasure to see those.

"They're dead?"

Ezra asked, walking around one of the pillars to look at one kneeling corpse, backing away in horror and tripping. I held out a hand, holding him up to prevent him from falling on his ass.

"Careful..."

I looked at the open door in front of us and sighed.

"Alright, head back and wait outside for me."

Ezra looked at me like I just said the most outrageous thing possible.

"I'm not leaving you alone here! I can help!"

I chuckled, straightening him up and turning him around.

"I can handle it, go."

Before I could push him out of the temple, the door closed...

I stared at the door for a moment, and Ezra looked at me, despite the situation, he seemed smug.

I walked forward and raised my leg, the force swirling around it and I kicked the door.

The force around my leg lashed back towards me, pushing me back into the middle of the room.

I took a deep breath, scowling at the door.

"I guess I'll come with you."

I gave the little brat a half-hearted glare, before huffing and turning to the only other open door in the room.

Right as I was about to enter, I paused, looking back at the corpses for a moment.

Jedi temple, jedi corpses... Lightsabers.

I raised my hand, reaching out with force, the lightsabers from inside their robes flew out, levitating in front of me.

"What are those?"

I hummed, grabbing one and pressing a button at the top of the handle.

A green glace hummed to life, for a few seconds, getting an awed "Woah" from Ezra, before it flickered out of existence.

I sighed, letting the lightsaber float back with the rest. A pulse from the force and the lightsabers started to unfold, screws coming loose and parts separating.

The kyber crystals floated in a circle in front of me, along with the seemingly useful parts of the lightsaber hilts.

Returning the crystals back to their owners, I floated the parts into Ezra's backpack, which he seemed rather fond of carrying around.

"Isn't that... wrong?"

I looked at Ezra for a moment, he was looking at me with doubtful eyes, unsure of the moral correctness of what I just did.

I nodded in response.

"It wasn't right, but they won't need them, we might."

He nodded hesitantly and followed me as I walked deeper into the temple, the door closing behind us as we did. On the other side, after a short walk, we came to another room with four doors that led to different paths.

"So, what now?"

I hummed at the question, sending out a pulse of force through the doors, only to receive nothing in response. It was like the force was preventing me from interracting with it fully.

"We'll just go though each one, I guess..."
