Chapter 14 - Where is my granddaughter-in-law?

"What!"

Both the old man and the younger man were shocked to find out that Sebastian was in his study room, yet they had to wait for close to a minute before the butler decided to spill the beans.

"Old Master, Master, the boss gave clear instructions that no one was supposed to disturb him in…" Before the butler could finish his sentence, the younger of the two visitors stared him down once more.

"Go and get that brat here right now!" That said, the butler rushed away from the two people who were scaring him out of his wits. The place soon returned to silence as the guests waited for Sebastian to emerge. However, it took them five whole minutes before a haggard-looking heartthrob appeared in their line of sight.

"What! You regret everything you did, now that she's dead, right?" The older man asked in a bellow, and the silence that returned to the place seemed merely like the calm before the storm.

"What did you say? Who is dead?" Sebastian questioned in shock. However, everyone remained silent once more, each with their own thoughts.

"Dad, Grandpa, who died?" Sebastian had a bad premonition, and needed them to tell him that his thoughts were too wild. He wanted the two people to assure him that he was mistaken, and that his grandfather was referring to someone totally unrelated to his wife.

Then again, the only person who could get Sebastian's granfather so worked up at the moment was Roxanne. She was the only reason he would barge into Sebastian's house and try to tear his face to shreds.

Sebastian's heart beat wildly against his ribcage, threatening to burst at any moment. It felt as if a huge lump had formed in his throat, and he was scared of what the next response would be.

On the other hand, his father and grandfather were rather shocked about his reaction. If he didn't know about Roxanne's death, then why was Sebastian looking so haggard? His father couldn't help wondering if there was another bad news they were yet to hear about.

Noticing that no one would respond to his boss' query, the butler presented his phone to Sebastian, who reluctantly took it but suddenly swayed at his spot. Before the butler could understand what was happening, his phone hit the floor harshly. The screen cracked, and nothing else could be spotted on it. He felt his heart plummet to the bottom of his stomach, but could only pick it up and leave silently. No one asked for his phone in the first place.

"Impossible! This is impossible!" Sebastian mouthed the words so many times, unsure of whether he was dreaming or not. Taking in the expressions of his father and grandfather, he rushed up the flight of stairs that he just descended.

"Sebastian, where is your wife?" His grandfather bellowed at the top of his lungs, and soon began a coughing fit. The old man exerted too much force into that shout. However, it was as if Sebastian didn't hear anything, as he kept rushing up the stairs without responding.

Sebastian looked so flustered that his father could only hope he wouldn't hit his head on those stairs. He noticed how he swayed on his feet a few seconds ago, and the memory was still fresh in his head.

Everyone in the Sinclair family knew how Sebastian doted on his wife, so his father was suddenly conflicted about what to feel. He didn't understand what sort of misunderstanding could cause him to walk out on his dying wife in the manner he did.

Sebastian's father didn't like Roxanne, because he was well informed about how she treated his son like crap. However, she was still Sebastian's wife, after all, and he felt conflicted at the turn of events and Sebastian's dilemma.

Soon enough, Sebastian re-emerged and joined them, his phone in hand. As he watched the screen come to life, Sebastian's jaw dropped at the numerous missed calls and text messages. Even the voicemails were uncountable.

Sebastian wasn't too shocked to see a few messages, missed calls, or voicemails on his phone. He switched the device off for the same reason, after all. However, there were not just a few, but numerous ones. He would have been confused as to which to return, but since the situation concerned Roxanne, he decided to reach out to her driver and assistant.

Sebastian dialled Mason's contact countless times, but there was no connection. "The number you have dialled cannot be reached at this moment…"

As if that was not enough, he dialled Erin's number next. "The number you have dialed is out of coverage. Please call again…" The automated message sounded in his ears once again, and Sebastian felt like smashing his phone on the floor. However, he decided against doing something so silly. He needed the phone to reach out to his people, anyway.

"Lambert, meet me at the hospital now!" As Sebastian spoke those words, he quickly went up the stairs and grabbed his car keys. He then moved towards the door without saying anything to his father and grandfather.

"Where do you think you're going?" Sebastian's grandfather tried to scream once again, but he quickly reverted to a calmer tone.

"Calm down, father. He needs to go back to the hospital to find his wife." Sebastian's father tried to reason with his father, even when he knew he was spewing nonsense.

"Locklan, are you calling me daft or senile?" The old man slapped his son's hand away from his shoulder. He could see that his son was trying to help Sebastian escape from him. However, he didn't think the situation should be handled lightly.

Sebastian turned around and impatiently stared into his father's face, hoping he would explain why his grandfather was so worked up about him going to the hospital.

"We already checked the hospital. Roxxy is not there. They don't even have any records of her getting admitted there." The latter part of the sentence was spoken in a voice barely above a whisper.

Sebastian frustratedly ran his hand through his hair for the umpteenth time, wondering what his father was trying to say.

"Maybe you went to the wrong hospital." Sebastian argued, hoping his father would clarify his words.

"Saint City General hospital." Locklan Sinclair declared without mincing words. When he noticed Sebastian's shock, he added, "That's where we're coming from. Roxanne is not there. We left a few men there to investigate the situation."

Absolute silence filled the place, as Sebastian's memory was assaulted by the last memory of his wife. He went to see her after watching the video online. Back then, he was so terrified that he prayed to God and every other deity out there to keep his wife safe.

Upon his arrival, however, the first thing he heard was the doctor's damning words. "She's having an abortion and is losing too much blood…" At that point, Sebastian remembered how he never went beyond stealing a peck or a kiss from Roxanne. Why then would she be pregnant when she swore to him that she didn't sleep with her lover? How did she get pregnant, then? The next thing he realized was storming away without looking back. He dreaded that action being his last encounter with his wife.

'Where is Roxanne?' Sebastian finally realized that he was thinking about the wrong things. 'Where are Mace and Erin? I met them at the hospital earlier, so why can't we find any of them?'

"You brat! Where is your wife? You have no right to stand there looking like a ghost. You couldn't even take care of one woman, yet you call yourself a man? Where is my granddaughter-in-law?"
