Min Yul arrives at school 7:45am and goes to his class, Class 2-4. Since it was very early in the morning, only a few students were in his class, who are chatting and gossiping about 'only God knows what'. He decides to take a walk in the school's garden before the lecture starts by 8:00am. As he walks around, he spots a cat under some flower bushes. He squats in front of the cat and strokes it gently on its back.
"Hey, kitty. What are you doing here?" Min Yul asks with a faint smile.
"Meow, meow, meow." The cat looks around and spots an apple tree and nods towards it.
"Oh you're hungry" he gets up and takes an apple from the tree and brings out a pen knife from his pocket and cuts the apple into pieces and drops it for the cat and it eats happily.
He was so focused on the cat that he didn't know a girl was behind him. The girl squats beside him.
"Thanks for feeding him. He's never accepted anyone at first sight. "
"He's cute and a good boy" to the cat. "Aren't you a good boy?" Yul says, stroking the cat's fur. It purrs softly.
"I think he likes you," she says with a smile.
Min Yul checks the time, and it's 8:05am.
'I've got to get to class, um..."
"I'm sorry. Shikimori. What's yours?" Stretches out her hand for a handshake.
"Min Yul." He didn't see her hand and runs to class.
Takes back her hand, disappointed. "It's really him. I've missed him, " sighs."He doesn't remember me, " disappointed.
Shikimori bids the cat bye and heads to class. Min Yul enters the class and meets the English teacher about to start the lecture. Students begin to murmur.
"I'm sorry for being late for class," He says with a bow.
"It's okay. You've never missed or came late to class, so I'll pardon you, " Miss Hae-Ryung smiles. "You can have your seat."
"Thank you," he goes to his seat.
"Okay, that's enough, everyone. Back to the business of today, " she writes a topic on the board: 'Phrase'. "Does anyone have an idea of what the topic is about?" Everyone remains silent. "Why don't you tell us, Yul?"
Min Yul stands up. "A phrase is a small group of words without a finite verb, and when put together, it has a particular meaning and firm part of a sentence." Takes his seat.
"You've all heard it class that's what a phrase is. Now Sujin, can you give us some examples?"
She stands. "The green car, on a Friday morning, Black Friday, and so on," she takes her seat.
Sua, who was at the back of the class listening to music, didn't hear what Sujin said was called by the teacher to repeat what Sujin had just said.
"Sua, Sua, Sua" Miss Hae-ryung calls.
"..."
"Kang Sua!"
Sua jumps to her feet and takes off her earpiece. "Ma'am!" Some students laugh.
"Repeat what Sujin just said," she says with a stern look.
"Umm... Umm... Roses are red, violets are blue, and everything is better with you?" She says with a nervous look. Students laugh again.
"Do you think this is a joke? Give me that MP3 player!"
"Miss Hae-Ryung, please don't take away my MP3 player. I'm really sorry. It won't happen again, " She says, pleading with an apologetic tone and look.
She exhales softly. "Fine. I'll let you go on one condition."
"What condition?" She asks nervously.
"Give me any example of a phrase."
Sua panicks. "Umm... umm... A man, no, umm..."
Sua's seat partner whispers to her.
"One certain time," Jihoon whispers.
"Umm... One certain time, " She says to Miss Hae-Ryung.
"That's correct. You can have your seat and put that away."
"Thank you, Miss Hae-Ryung!" She says bowing and takes her seat. Sua looks at Jihoon and thanks him for saving her. "Thank you so much, Jihoon. I would have lost my MP 3 player if you didn't help me." She says with a smile.
"It's alright. Just try to pay attention in class" He says with a smile.
