Luan looked at the guard he was following with a hint of wonder.
They had been walking for more than five minutes, but the guard seemed to have not noticed the people tailing them.
He just seems to uphold his image of the dutiful policeman as he walked on the streets seemingly without any vigilance.
The group of cloaked men closed in as Luan and the guard neared a passage between two particularly high buildings which also seemed to be inns not too dissimilar to the one he had lodged into earlier.
Once they stepped into the alley, which was a bit dark, the haughty demeanor of the guard in front of Luan changed and became something more cold and icy.
He looked at Luan, scrutinizing the latter up and down before he finally spoke.
"You have two choices, join the government or die."
Luan tilted his head. "Huh?"
The guard didn't speak anymore. Instead, the air seemed to become colder as a layer of frost started gathering around the man.
