Chapter 2 - THE HATRED

Right after Florie completed preparing lunch, the doorbell rang to indicate that someone had just arrived. As she approached the door and open it, Mrs. Zion was there standing elegantly.

With a gentle smile, Florie greeted her, "Mrs. Zion, pleasure to meet you again." unfortunately Mrs. Zion simply looked around the house as Florie invited her in

"Where is my son?" Mrs. Zion asked with an icy tone that sent chills down the spine

Florie bite her lower lip in nervousness before responding to the question, "Arlon went out because of some company matters," Florie Watched Mrs. Zion who sat down on the sofa, hoping she won't ask any further

Mrs. Zion just sat down, not believing what Florie was saying as she just let out a heavy sigh "I know my son really well Florie, so stop covering his own excuses"

Florie just chuckled awkwardly before she handed Mrs. Zion a cup of tea, "I tried to stop Arlon from leaving the house, but he didn't listen. He just told me that he had some business to attend to."

Mrs. Zion sip her tea and said, "I understand that my son can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but don't give up on him. He will soon return the love to you."

Florie was just standing and listening to Mrs. Zion. Though it was true that Florie had been hoping to receive the love she need from Arlon, she then realized in her heart that even if Arlon returned the love, it was not going to be enough because she never actually love him from the first place... or Does she?

"Mrs. Zion, here are the information you asked me" A guy wearing a suit went inside the office.

Mrs. Zion was sitting on her office chair as she watched the bodyguard put the files at her desk before dismissing the bodyguard. Her hand reached out to the file and opened it to see the information about the young girl she saw yesterday.

"Florie Evelan... what a nice name for a nice girl," she mutters to herself in satisfaction as she read the information about the girl.

The door suddenly swung open, revealing a grown man who's wearing a business suit, his face was all in range as he faced the woman who's not even bothered by his presence.

"How could you hand those flowers to my fiancé?!" The man shouted at his own mother, but her mother just glanced up at him with nothing but hatred.

"Well, good morning to you too, Arlon," his mother said with disdain in her tone. "If only you could choose a much better woman to marry, then I won't have any problem with it," the mother said before turning her attention back at the file.

"I don't care about your opinions, mother! But you have no rights to say harsh words or even threaten my fiancé like that!" Arlon yelled at her mother while slamming his fist against the table, but her mother showed no fear and just stared at her son with disdain.

"Don't worry, my son. I know you can't leave that woman, but I already planned something nice for you," Mrs. Zion said while standing up as she walked toward Arlon.

"What do you mean?" Arlon asked with confusion written on his face as he looked at his mother, surely he wasn't expecting anything nice from his mother.

"What I mean is... Break up with your fiancé now before it's too late," Mrs. Zion explained while she circled around her son.

"What? There's no way I'll break up with her!" Arlon disagreed while watching his mother in anger.

"We both know that Kaitlyn was nothing but a gold digger, so I'm telling you to break up with her now," Mrs. Zion demanded while standing straight in front of her son.

"There's no way Kaitlyn was a gold digger! Stop making lies about her, and if you really hate her that much, then just leave us alone!" Arlon yelled, only to receive a loud smack at his face. Her mother just slapped his face so hard that he couldn't believe it.

"Yell at me one more time. I swear to disown you! Now break your ties with her or I'll make sure to cut my shares to your company!" Mrs. Zion threatened her son as she looked at him with fury in her eyes

Arlon rubbed his swollen cheek, looking at his mother in disbelief, he couldn't believe what her mother was forcing him to do. Arlon just stared at Mrs. Zion as he tried to find the right word but nothing came out, who is he even to go against his mother?

"Fine... I'll do what you ask for, but don't regret what I'll do," Arlon warned before walking out of his mother's office and slamming the door behind him.

The woman just stood there with satisfaction written on her face; she watched her son walk out of her office full of hatred and against her decision, but she knew full well that her son would never be able to go against her.

(NEXT DAY)

The morning comes and Mrs. Zion was already there at the flower shop waiting for Florie to arrived but to her disappointment, Florie didn't showed up and with that she decided to head straight to Florie house.

Florie was inside her house and wasn't able to come at the flower shop since her parents was no where too be found, and they clearly left Florie there to watch after her ill grandmother.

Mrs. Zion arrived in front of Florie house as she take in the sight of the nearby garden full of beautiful flowers and a small house where Florie lived. Mrs. Zion knock at the door and wait for a response, after waiting the door opened and was she greeted by Florie.

"How may I help you ma'am?" Florie asked while she lead the woman inside the living room

"I'm sorry for coming here unexpected, I was waiting for you at the flower shop but you didn't showed up so I thought I could visit you here" The woman said while looking around the furniture inside the living room

"Oh I didn't know you will go back there, a-anyways how did you know where I lived?" Florie asked as she went inside the kitchen to grab a glass of juice

"Well I just learned that there was a house here at the top of the mountain and thought that you live here so I check it" The woman lied, yet Florie was too naive to notice so she just hand the glass of juice to Mrs. Zion

"I see, then is there something you need?" Florie ask while sitting on the opposite couch as she wait patiently for a respond

"Well, I realized how kind and calm you are" Mrs. Zion said before putting down the glass at the table "I just decided, why don't I gave you an offer?"

"O-Offer?" Florie suddenly ask, a bit confused and taken back, not knowing if this conversation was a good idea or not

"Yes, an offer for your kindness that you've shown me" Mrs. Zion declared while handing an envelope with contract paper inside "I can see that your grandmother was suffering from illness" Mrs. Zion said while watching Florie took the envelop and open it

"And it means you need a large amount of money for your grandmother medication" Mrs. Zion continued, taking note on how focus Florie was reading the contract

"But don't worry, I'll give you a large amount of money and even more. But in exchange..." Mrs. Zion said with a serious tone as she stood up while looking straight at Florie eyes who was now looking back at her in disbelief as soon as she finished reading the contract "Marry my son..."
