Leaves begin to yellow
Cut off from the life of the tree
Life draining their color now all mellow
Suddenly unable to breathe like a spondee
Exiled from their lifeline of friends
One by one turned orange then brown
The chapter of happy ends
As the gravity of memories weighs them down
Crushed by the wind of time
Frozen and in a hopeless asylum
Trying to fight the cold and climb
As the trees go on without them
As the morass suffocates them into the ground
Wanting nothing more than to be their old self again
The caterwaul of sobbing fading as they drown
Unable to be heard forever and right then
Their friendships decayed away
Right when things were right anew
The sky turned all grey
No one knowing what the leaf has gone through
