**Chapter 118: Using Scrolls**
Aboard the battleship, Su Yu looked out across the deck at the familiar figures of their foes, his eyes narrowing in recognition:
"Duke Landilus, Turalyon, Antonidas, and Walnut."
These were some of the most powerful figures in the game world.
Turalyon and Antonidas hailed from the western Lion Empire, both serving as generals under the Lion Emperor. Walnut, in turn, came from the Pandaren Empire in the east, where he led the Rebirth Taoist Hall. (Despite the name, the Pandaren Empire was a mix of many races, though mostly pandaren.)
With the Gorse Empire on the brink of collapse, these foreign powers had wasted no time in stepping in.
Su Yu gave them only a brief glance before looking away. This clash of titans was not his concern; he had a different mission. His job was to protect the princess and ensure they cleared this level successfully.
After General Shuk had left, the command of the fleet had been handed to his second-in-command, Shuke, a fifth-order archer. Shuke activated his [Eagle Eye Technique] to scan the enemy's four warships.
The fleet continued forward. When they were within 200 meters of the enemy ships, Shuke gave the command:
"Turn the ships, drop anchor, and fire the magic crystal cannons!"
Following Shuke's order, the three warships gradually slowed, pivoted 90 degrees in the river, and dropped anchor, positioning themselves to face the enemy fleet head-on.
The black muzzles of the magic crystal cannons extended from the hulls and unleashed a barrage of fire on the opposing fleet.
*Boom! Boom! Boom!*
Amidst the deafening booms, colorful magic crystal shells soared through the air toward the enemy ships.
The enemy's warships responded by deploying vibrant magical shields around their vessels, absorbing the incoming shells with flashes of light and bursts of arcane energy. Each impact set off a brilliant explosion, yet the shields flickered resiliently, holding against the barrage.
For the next ten minutes, the queen's fleet hammered the enemy ships with magic crystal shells. The duke's forces took the blows passively, their shields holding firm.
However, the magic crystal cannons began to slow, and the enemy's magical shields seemed to wane slightly. The water battle had devolved into a test of endurance—a war of attrition to see who would run out of resources first.
Meanwhile, the six powerhouse figures hovering in the sky hadn't made a move. They remained locked in a tense standoff, knowing full well that the real deciding factor lay elsewhere—the queen's daughter, Princess Elijah, who was aboard one of the queen's warships. She was the key to this battle.
---
On the deck, Su Yu quietly approached Shuke. "General Shuke, how long do you estimate it will take to break through the enemy's magic shield?"
Shuke, eyes narrowed in concentration, continued observing through his [Eagle Eye Technique]. He was about to brush Su Yu off but, remembering the young man's importance to the princess, he replied, though slightly impatiently, "Five to eight minutes. Just be patient."
"Understood." Su Yu nodded and stepped aside.
Just then, a private message flashed onto Su Yu's interface. It was from Snow Leopard, one of his allies at the rear: "Senior, the water ghosts' fleet is catching up from behind! And this time, they've brought over 30 ships!"
"How long until they reach us?" Su Yu asked.
"Three to four minutes."
"What a coincidence…" Su Yu thought, eyebrows furrowing.
Without hesitating further, he decided it was time to use his trump card—the [Tier 6 Temporary Experience Scroll] he'd been holding onto, now nearly expired. This campaign felt particularly challenging, and in his experience, holding back on resources now would only complicate the mission.
---
Experience scrolls were classified by rarity and could be enhanced with his [Pointing Star Hand].
Su Yu hadn't used it yet because he'd been debating whether to gild it using [Tina's Blood]. The higher the quality, the more difficult it was to apply the gilding, after all.
But since he'd decided to use it immediately, Su Yu saw no reason not to upgrade it first.
He activated [Pointing Star Hand], and a system prompt appeared:
"Ding! Do you wish to spend 770 psionic coins to enhance the [Tier 6 Temporary Experience Scroll (Normal)]?"
"Yes."
"Ding! The quality of the [Tier 6 Temporary Experience Scroll (Normal)] has been upgraded to [Tier 6 Temporary Experience Scroll (Excellent)], granting the options 'specify one fixed profession' and 'charging time reduced by one minute.' Note: Only one profession can be activated at a time."
Previously, the scroll would assign a random profession and required five minutes of magic input to activate. After the enhancement, he could now choose a profession, and the activation time was reduced.
"Ding! Do you wish to spend 7,700 psionic coins?"
"Ding! Do you wish to spend 77,700 psionic coins?"
After two more upgrades, the scroll reached *Epic* quality.
With this level, he could now choose from three fixed professions, and the activation time was shortened to two minutes. Other attributes remained unchanged.
Further enhancement would have cost a staggering 770,000 psionic coins, and it would only grant an additional fixed profession. Su Yu decided that was unnecessary.
With the enhancements completed, Su Yu activated the experience scroll in his hand.
"General Shuke, stop the shelling and have the fleet charge the enemy!" he called out.
"Do not give orders!" Shuke snapped, irritated.
Unfazed, Su Yu held up the scroll for Shuke to see.
The moment he spotted it, Shuke's reprimand turned into stunned silence. "Is that…a sixth-order transformation scroll?!"
"That's right."
"Well, well! You lucky dog! How many incredible gifts has Her Highness bestowed upon you?" Shuke's eyes gleamed with envy. Even at his level, a treasure of this caliber was invaluable.
Shuke turned back to the fleet, shouting, "All ships, pull anchor and charge straight at the enemy lines!"
His order was promptly relayed across the fleet.
The three warships raised their anchors, pivoted, and began speeding down the river toward the enemy formation.
While activating the experience scroll, Su Yu switched to a first-person perspective and started recording a video.
In his previous battles, he'd avoided using the first-person view, as it would expose many of his skills and secrets. However, with the transformation scroll in play, he didn't mind—viewers would only see what happened *after* the transformation.
Su Yu planned to upload the footage online later. This clip would show players the strength of a sanctuary powerhouse and the thrill of aerial combat, inspiring them to push their levels higher.
At the same time, Su Yu messaged Snow Leopard privately. "Turn on your recording and point it at me."
"Why?"
"I'm about to use a scroll to transform into a sixth-order powerhouse. This will show you firsthand what a sanctuary powerhouse is capable of in the game. You can report the results."
Snow Leopard's reply came instantly. "Wait—a sixth-order powerhouse?"
"Of course," Su Yu replied smoothly. "When you see it, you'll understand."
Snow Leopard was speechless, his surprise apparent in his message. "My god! You have something like that and you're using it *here*? Isn't that a bit extravagant?"
He sighed, resigned. The scroll wasn't his, and Su Yu could use it however he wanted.
All Snow Leopard could do was follow along, slightly awed and a touch regretful, as he prepared his own recording.
