### Chapter 70: I'm Immortal
"What would you like to drink? I have Tieguanyin, Coke, and boiled water," Su Yu said, turning his back to Xue Wenli as he prepared a drink for his uninvited guest.
"No, I don't need anything," Xue Wenli replied, sitting upright on the sofa. Her arms were crossed over her slender thighs as she scrutinized the layout of Su Yu's room.
"Well, this seems like the home of an ordinary otaku," she concluded quickly. However, as she observed, three things felt distinctly off:
First, a set of gaming helmets was neatly arranged on the bed. These were from the new holographic simulation game "Evolution," worth an astonishing 30,000 yuan—something most people wouldn't dream of purchasing.
Second, the wall opposite the bed displayed scorch marks and peeling paint, evidence of what looked like electric welding. Yet, there were no welding tools in sight.
Third, the man himself appeared far too calm. An ordinary person would surely panic and tremble at the sight of her identification.
Xue Wenli focused intently on Su Yu's back, the seriousness in her gaze deepening.
Su Yu approached her with two cups of boiled water, placing one on the coffee table in front of her. "Now, tell me what brings you here."
Xue Wenli rolled her eyes and pulled out a small red book from her satchel, laying it on the table. "Mr. Su Yu, this is the real estate certificate for this house. We have transferred it to your name as a gift."
"Oh? Is this a bribe?" Su Yu took a sip of the boiled water, contemplating the small one-bedroom apartment of just over fifty square meters.
Am I losing out here? I should've rented a mansion if I knew the authorities were so generous. But at least I won't have to worry about rent anymore.
"Acquisition is only part of the matter. We simply hope Mr. Su Yu will answer a few questions for us in light of this real estate certificate," Xue Wenli continued.
She then pulled out an enlarged photo from her satchel and placed it in front of Su Yu.
In the photo, he was captured mid-air, having broken a window and leaped from the 19th floor of the Muyun Building.
"Ah! So it's true!" Su Yu sighed inwardly. He had suspected that the girl who snapped the picture might bring trouble, and now here they were.
"Is the person in the photo you?" Xue Wenli demanded, her eyes narrowed.
"It's me," he admitted, knowing denial was futile. The photo's resemblance was too striking.
"Can you explain why you jumped from the 19th floor and emerged unscathed?" she pressed.
"Because I am immortal," Su Yu responded matter-of-factly.
"Immortal body?" Xue Wenli echoed, skepticism lining her voice.
"Yes, I've lived for 23 years without dying. Therefore, I'm immortal," Su Yu stated seriously.
Xue Wenli stared at him, taken aback.
"Is this a joke?" she thought, feeling she had been misled.
But, seasoned in her profession, Xue Wenli managed to suppress her rising frustration, though the veins on her forehead pulsed slightly.
"Then could you explain how you acquired this 'immortal body'? Was it a gift at birth, or…"
Her gaze drifted to the game equipment on the bed, and her eyes narrowed thoughtfully. Remembering Zhong Feng's comments from Senior Zhang Jiao, she considered that reaching level 50 in the game could potentially bring abilities into reality. Could Su Yu's strength be derived from the game?
Noticing her attention fixating on the helmets, Su Yu decided to be forthright. "Yes, my strength comes from the game 'Evolution.' I can manifest some of my game abilities in reality."
He raised his right hand, fingertips crackling with arcs of electricity, containing a [Lightning Arrow] yet to be unleashed.
"What the—?" Xue Wenli's pupils widened in surprise.
Senior Zhang Jiao hadn't misled them; this young man was indeed a confirmation of the game's potential!
"If Zhong Feng saw this, he might faint from excitement!"
"You're level 50?!" she blurted out.
"No, it's a special talent that allows me to manifest my strength ahead of time," Su Yu clarified.
"Is that so?"
Xue Wenli studied his face, a sense of urgency in her expression. This was significant news! The realization that "Evolution" could manifest superpowers was groundbreaking. The attention from Guo Jia would skyrocket!
Judging by Su Yu's abilities, she pondered how much stronger humans might become post-level 50.
Seeing Xue Wenli lost in thought, Su Yu glanced at the photo again. "As for what happened this morning, I can explain that as well."
"I didn't visit the top floor intentionally; my curiosity piqued due to my resignation," he began.
"While at the president's office door, someone inside suddenly yanked me in and attacked! Startled, I retaliated with a bolt of lightning, but the man forced a mask on me and threw me out of the building. I barely survived by redirecting my lightning to hit the wall. That's all I know."
"Hmm," Xue Wenli nodded thoughtfully.
She had already interrogated Wang Chongyang, head of the Finance Department at Muyun Company, who confirmed that Su Yu expressed an interest in exploring the building. Yet, several questions remained unanswered.
For instance, the cleaning lady claimed she hadn't seen Su Yu; the door lock of the president's office bore signs of damage from lightning, similar to the injuries on Su Yu's hands; and the wall-piercing weapons of the Skrulls remained unaccounted for.
Xue Wenli sensed that Su Yu was withholding certain details.
But that wasn't the crux of the matter. The real focus was on Su Yu's abilities derived from the game—knowledge that could change everything for their department, Guo Jia, and the world at large!
Standing up, she gazed into Su Yu's eyes and stated seriously, "Would you consider joining our department as a 'special advisor'?"
Su Yu frowned at the proposal, prompting Xue Wenli to quickly add, "You wouldn't need to report to the department. You could stay home and play games while I contact you on a need-to-know basis. You'd enjoy the benefits of a department-level position!"
The department's founding purpose was to unite all available forces to combat the invaders together. Sticking to this mission, she offered Su Yu an olive branch rather than opting for forceful arrest.
"We can cooperate," Su Yu responded cautiously.
Collaboration with the relevant departments was inevitable. In-game, after establishing the mage tower, he would need numerous people to gather materials. In the real world, he sought to expand his experience in extracting information from the ghosts.
However, he felt the need to express a concern.
"My current strength is still too low. I lack confidence if my abilities don't improve quickly." Su Yu sighed internally.
