### Chapter 68: Senior Scholar Assessment
As Su Yu entered the room, the old man stepped inside, activating a magic device mounted on the wall.
With a gentle hum, light blue beams of magic illuminated the space.
"This is the [Magic Imager]. It records the entire assessment, ensuring fairness and preventing favoritism. Do you mind?" the old man inquired, his gaze fixed on Su Yu.
"Of course, I don't mind," Su Yu replied, taking a deep breath to center himself. He recalled the questions he had memorized from his previous life, preparing thoroughly for the challenge ahead.
Seeing the confidence radiating from Su Yu, the old man's eyes glimmered with admiration. "When shall we start?"
"Anytime."
"Alright, let's begin now. I'll explain the assessment rules," the old man said, placing his hands behind his back and adopting a serious demeanor. "There are 30 questions in the Senior Scholar Assessment. You need to answer at least 21 correctly to pass. It's as straightforward as that."
"Twenty-one?" Su Yu's expression flickered with surprise.
"Is something wrong?" the old man asked, noticing the change.
"No, no problem at all. Please go ahead," Su Yu assured him, masking his astonishment. In his previous experience, the "Advanced Scholar Assessment" required answering 24 questions correctly, but this earlier version only required 21.
"The first ten questions will be a written test. Due to the hurried organization of this assessment, we will change the format to a question-and-answer style. It's essentially the same," the old man continued.
"Now, listen carefully to the first question: Where are the primary origins of 'Silver Moon Grass'?"
Su Yu thought for a moment before answering confidently, "The main origins of Silver Moon Grass are: the Yongshuang River Valley in Ratchet City of the Lane Empire, the Tauren Plantation in Rhode Island, the Spring Song Forest, and the Snowflake Woodland in Gorse City."
"Okay, three origins are sufficient," the old man interrupted, recognizing Su Yu's thorough knowledge.
The old man saw from the first question that Su Yu possessed real talent; no wonder he had the confidence to tackle the assessment.
"Second question: What is the function of the raw material chrysanthemum in the Tier 6 potion, [Eternal Rage]?"
"Once stimulated by energy surges, chrysanthemum will shatter and release a significant amount of energy. The addition of heliotrope in [Eternal Rage] allows for the rapid release of its medicinal power."
"Exactly! Now, onto the third question: What is the theoretical framework of the Markmond configuration?"
With each question, Su Yu maintained his focus, answering the ten quiz questions quickly. He scored perfectly on nine, with the exception of one question about "Bow and Arrow Wind Resistance Calculation," which he struggled with.
The old man was clearly pleased with Su Yu's performance. The [Scholar's Temple] could only produce a senior scholar every two to three years, and most candidates could only answer six or seven questions correctly in the written test. Few achieved eight correct answers, let alone nine.
"It seems we may have some fresh blood to add to the temple," the old man thought to himself, impressed by Su Yu's capabilities.
"The next part is the drawing section, consisting of five drawing questions. You will need to outline what I describe using magic," the old man instructed.
"Not a problem," Su Yu replied confidently.
"First, draw a pterosaur on the left, and fel energy on your right."
Under the old man's guidance, the drawing session commenced. This part of the assessment was often regarded as an easier segment, as the subjects were standard references found in the "Continental Encyclopedia."
Su Yu completed all five drawings with ease, successfully passing this segment of the assessment.
With only 15 questions remaining, he needed to answer just seven correctly to pass the Senior Scholar Exam.
"Little brother, you performed remarkably. May I ask who your teacher is?" the old man inquired with admiration.
"Sorry, I acquired this knowledge from books. I don't have a teacher," Su Yu replied with a smile.
The old man appeared skeptical. "If you choose not to disclose it, I won't press further."
Waving his hand, he produced a dazzling staff from his space ring. "Let's continue with the remaining assessment. I hope you pass smoothly."
"Thank you," Su Yu nodded, concentrating on the upcoming questions.
The remaining 15 questions included seven magic image analysis questions. For these, the old man would display seven scenes, and Su Yu would need to identify the era and significant events depicted.
With a wave of his wand, the old man summoned a magical image that projected onto the pristine white wall.
"Kill!"
The air filled with shouts and the sounds of clashing swords.
The scene depicted heroic human warriors engaged in battle against towering enemies, including orcs, trolls, and tauren.
Su Yu immediately recognized the scene. "This is the third Human-Beast War, and it took place on the Jersey Plains."
The old man continued the image, asking, "How can you tell it was the third Human-Beast War and not the first or second?"
"It's straightforward. The soldier in the image is wearing shoulder armor bearing the emblem of the Franken family, which emerged after the Second Human-Beast War," Su Yu explained confidently.
"Excellent! Your answer is spot on!" the old man responded with satisfaction.
Waving his wand again, he brought forth a second magical image.
However, this image was particularly strange and difficult to describe.
As Su Yu studied the image, he felt transported back to a late-night study session where he secretly accessed forbidden materials.
"Ahem, the figure in the image appears to be the emperor of the Plantagenet Empire. The fine linings are crafted from premium silk produced by the Pandaren Empire. As for the content, this seems to be an exotic martial arts demonstration for the princesses," Su Yu remarked, stroking his chin, surprised by the emperor's age and vigor.
The old man's previously stoic expression faltered, his discomfort evident. He quickly dismissed the magical image, "Cough, little brother, this was simply an unfortunate mistake. I don't know who slipped that into the video library. You can consider this question passed."
He waved his wand again, revealing the next magical image.
Following the seven image analysis questions, the assessment proceeded to the object identification segment.
The old man retrieved various precious minerals, herbs, monster hides, and other items from the temple's warehouse for Su Yu to identify based on their origin and use.
Su Yu maintained his composure, successfully identifying six out of eight items.
Having answered all 30 questions, the senior scholar assessment was concluded.
The old man transmitted the magic image recordings to his colleagues for review.
Ultimately, the temple's top management unanimously confirmed that Su Yu had answered 26 questions correctly, successfully passing the Senior Scholar Assessment!
