"Yes? Can I help you?" he asked however Adam was in no mood for conversation he placed the man under his mind control and after reading his memories, he knew he had found the right person. Wasting no time, he teleported both his and the now unconscious black man back to the base where after controlling the minds of the mutants to pass out, began the process of power absorption. Soon he passed out with the process completed. Waking up eight hours later, after having a quick snack, he teleported back to his car where he entered and drived off. Leaving behind the distraught family of Lucas Bishop who had no idea where their husband/father had disappeared to. Though that was not Adam's concern with him driving off to Nebraska where his next target lay.
Meanwhile within 'The Raft', a large Base hidden deep within the North Pacific Ocean, a meeting was currently being held between various high level officials of America along with some of the Avengers like Tony Stark, Black Widow, Vision and Rhodey/ War Machine. They were currently arguing about how to handle the matter of Adam's threat.
"Does anyone even know who this guy is?" asked one of the leaders wearing a black suit.
"I recognize him." Said Natasha as she gazed with a shocked look at the person being displayed on the main screen "His name is Adam Riley. He is the romantic partner of Wanda Maximoff."
"So you knew about him? Why did you never say anything especially when this is a person with various powerful abilities?" question Secretary Ross.
"Because for as long as I have known him, he has never had any powers of any kind. He was as ordinary as a human could get" replied Natasha
"He doesn't look ordinary to me" scoffed Ross as he clicked a button causing the screens to play the footage of what had happened when SHIELD was attacked. They all saw how Adam conjured red psychic energy which he used to crush the agents attacking him to mush as well as the red sphere he conjured to block the attacks of the agents. It was akin to a wolf in a sheep farm. A complete slaughter with no chance of retaliation.
Tony Stark, however, noticed something strange with the red psychic energy being projected "Hey. Don't those red psychic energies look similar to those Wanda makes when she is fighting." His hypothesis brought a round of realization to everyone present as they finally recognized the missing puzzle in their mind.
"But how is that possible?"
"I had hypothesized many theories after seeing Wanda agreeing to be arrested and not fighting back at all given her nature and yet now seeing Adam using powers akin to Wanda's makes my hypothesis quite clear. Wanda no longer has her powers. She had transferred them to Adam, her boyfriend." Said Vision bringing about a round of shock to everyone including the Avengers.
"Is that even possible? To transfer her powers to another?" questioned Rhodey.
"It should be possible. Wanda's powers have always been a mystery to us as we don't known the full extent of their capabilities hence it could be possible that she indeed possesses the ability to give away her powers."
This aroused a round of fierce discussion between the leaders of the world, some of whom began to display looks of greed as they thought about the possibility of whether when they captured Adam, they could transfer Wanda's powers to themselves. The very thought of such incredible power almost made them jump out of their seats.
"We won't know for sure until we hear the truth from the Horse's mouth." said Ross calming the room as he ordered for someone to fetch Wanda. A few minutes later Wanda arrived in the council room. She was dressed in pure grey prison uniform and on her neck and hands were devices meant to limit her powers. She looked haggard and a bit pale as the living conditions and food presented to her had been less than adequate. The Avengers present upon seeing Wanda displayed various looks of guilt and remorse and yet even so they did nothing other than avert their gazes to comfort themselves.
Wanda, upon entering the room had mixed feelings upon seeing the members of her former team, however she was shocked to see her boyfriend on multiple screens.
"Adam?" softly uttered Wanda, her eyes getting teary as her emotions threatened to burst out.
"What's going on?" asked Wanda as she stared at Adam's face on the main screen with longing. Oh how she had missed hearing his calm and at times sarcastic voice and hearing his rare yet pleasant laugh.
"What is going on is that your boyfriend has suddenly displayed powers similar to your own, has killed nearly half of the people in SHIELD headquarters in Washington and is now demanding your return to him lest he kills every single person in Washington DC or so he threatens." Said Ross his eyes fuming with rage.
"Wanda. I've had my suspicions that you may no longer have your powers however I was never really sure but now seeing Adam displaying powers similar to your own I can't help but ask. Did you give Adam your powers?" asked Vision.
The whole room fell silent waiting for an answer.
"I did" finally answered Wanda, her chest falling free as if a heavy weight had been lifted from her. With the cat out of the bag and Adam demanding her return, she could finally tell the truth to everyone.
The entire room was engulfed in an uproar as various leaders asked multiple questions which all blended into noise while Wanda herself remained silent. Finally Ross managed to calm everyone down.
"The most important question to ask is: How were you able to give away your powers?" asked Ross causing all eyes to turn to Wanda. Wanda, seeing the greedy faces on some of the people present suddenly understood why they brought her here.
