Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Arguments

Gabrielle walked down the hallway, following the sounds of a yelling woman's voice.

"You are a disgrace to this castle," The woman yelled, her voice filled with anger.

Gabrielle paused, seeing Hattie, Nylah, and Jospehine standing a few feet away from her, none of them noticing Gabrielle standing there.

"Look how disgusting she looks," Nylah mocked, tossing her hair over her shoulder.

"A disgusting cow," Hattie added, turning her nose up.

Jospehine looked down, gritting her teeth.

"Look at her cower, it's disgusting. You should've known better than to walk around the castle looking the way you do," Hattie scolded, pressing her finger into Jospehine's shoulder.

"I was going to change, air head," Jospehine muttered.

"You think you can talk to me any way. Forget it! You're nothing more than a slave and you need to know your place," Hattie scolded as she continuously pressed her finger into Jospehine's chest.

"Teach her a lesson," Nylah laughed, covering her smile with her fingers.

Flashbacks ran through Gabrielle's mind as she watched Hattie raise her hand getting ready to strike Jospehine.

Gabrielle ran in front of Jospehine, grabbing onto Hattie's wrist, preventing her from striking.

Adrenaline ran through Gabrielle's body as she shouted, "What do you think you're doing?"

"What am I doing? What are you doing? How dare you concern yourself in matters that don't concern you," Hattie snapped, ripping her hand away from Gabrielle.

Gabrielle turned away from Hattie, facing Jospehine. "Are you alright," Gabrielle asked.

"I'm okay Milady," Jospehine responded, giving a relieving sigh.

"Hey I'm talking to you," Hattie huffed, slapping the side of her leg.

Gabrielle rolled her eyes, turning around to face Hattie.

"I know you're talking, I just don't care to listen," Gabrielle scoffed.

"You have no manners," Nylah shouted, "You're as disgusting as Jospehine."

"No manners huh? You say that as if your, 'Master,' wasn't about to hit someone for no reason," Gabrielle retorted, "As a child you learn to keep your hands to yourself and be kind to others but I see you guys don't stick to those values."

"As a noble you learn that the servants aren't people and that they are beneath you. So why don't you mind your own business while I take care of my slave," Hattie ranted, balling up her fists.

"Your slave," Gabrielle chuckled, raising an eyebrow, "Last time I checked this castle belongs to Ansel and he doesn't own any slaves."

"How dare you call His Majesty by his first name. I'm Lady of The Castle but you wouldn't know that because you're a newcomer," Hattie raged, shaking from anger.

Nylah walked up to Gabrielle, pressing her finger into the side of Gabrielle's temple. "You should be so lucky that Lady Hattie doesn't have you imprisoned for the disrespect that you've displayed," Nylah lashed, pushing the side of Gabrielle's head with her finger.

"What do you think you're doing," A man shouted.

They all looked down the hallway seeing Cobsworth rush towards them.

Nylah snatched her hand, putting it down at her side, as Cobsworth stood in front of Gabrielle facing Hattie and Nylah.

"I was teaching a slave a lesson, and then the newcomer butted in where she didn't belong," Hattie seethed, folding her arms.

"Did you not hear His Majesty's command that Lady Gabrielle is to be addressed as Milady and is to be treated as an extension of His Majesty," Cobsworth scolded.

"Why does she get special treatment? I'm Lady of The Castle! She should not be in my business nor should she be interfering with my affairs," Hattie lashed, slapping the side of her leg with her hand.

"You were not given that title. The highest title you have is Lady Hattie because you're the daughter of a Marquis. You are not Lady of The Castle nor will you ever be," Cobsworth scolded, coldness filling his face.

"You think you can bully me Cobsworth but you can't. You maybe Majordomo now but just wait until I tell His Majesty how you've been treating me, then you're finished," Hattie threatened.

"Yeah tell me how that goes," Cobsworth muttered, turning away from Hattie to face Gabrielle.

"Are you alright Milady," Cobsworth asked.

"I'm alright, thank you," Gabrielle responded, relief filling her eyes.

"Please Milady if you would follow me to the dining room, lunch is ready for you," Cobsworth said.

"Josephine please accompany me," Gabrielle said, grabbing onto Jospehine's wrist.

"Yes Milady," Jospehine replied, following Gabrielle and Cobsworth to the dining room.

Hattie and Nylah stood, watching Gabrielle and Jospehine.

"How dare she, they both will pay heavily," Hattie muttered.
