Negut and Meika were, of course, oblivious to what was happening outside the room.
Meika clung tightly to Negut; she wept like she wanted to forget everything and use her tears to wash away all the pain.
After a while, they sat side by side in the corner of the room. Negut sat still while Meika rested her head on his shoulder.
They sat motionless like statues, neither of them speaking, only the sound of their breathing echoing clearly in the quiet space.
"Negut…" Meika suddenly spoke. "You… knew everything, didn't you?"
Negut: "..."
'Know what? I don't know anything!'
'Wait a minute! What the hell? Does she know everything already? Does she know I tricked her?'
'No, more accurately…that my subordinates tricked her.'
He remained silent, unsure how to respond. After all, everything had been arranged by his subordinates; he had merely reaped the benefits.
"That…" he stammered.
