Chapter 36 - Life is so unfair

The four bodyguards sighed. In their minds, Selvia was like Negut's woman, and they worried that if they didn't do as she pleased, she would get angry.

However, the Young Master's orders were completely different. He had just given the command that if danger arose, they were not to let Selvia near him.

Fortunately, Selvia wasn't causing them any trouble. Otherwise, being caught between the Young Master's woman and the Young Master himself, they wouldn't know what to do.

Selvia followed closely behind the guards, but her thoughts weren't on escaping.

"I can't understand you, what the hell are you doing, Selvia?!" Ivy's voice rang out in Selvia's head.

Selvia didn't answer, her gaze distant as if she were contemplating something.

"AAA!!!" Ivy yelled impatiently, "You humans are so confusing, I can't understand what you're thinking!"

Selvia suddenly stopped, as if she sensed something, her eyes looking off into the distance.

Immediately after, she retreated, separating from the four bodyguards and running in a different direction.

"Miss!"

"Wait!"

"Damn it! What should we do now?"

"Hurry up! Follow her."

"Tsk! I hope she doesn't cause trouble, otherwise, tomorrow the Young Master will definitely throw us into a void rift."

The four bodyguards ran after Selvia, but they didn't dare touch her.

They could only run alongside her, constantly advising her not to run around.

"Miss, please don't make things difficult for us. We're just following orders."

"That's right, the void rifts are appearing erratically now, you should prioritise your own safety, Miss."

"Miss!"

Selvia didn't seem to hear them; she continued running forward. Her long white hair flowed in the wind, becoming incredibly dazzling in the night, making her look like a beautiful spirit.

BAM!

Another loud explosion echoed from the room where the void rift had appeared.

At this moment, the void rift resembled a black hole, as it began to suck everything into it.

The walls of the villa, though built incredibly sturdy, now resembled a sponge, disintegrating into countless tiny dust particles that flew into the void rift.

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Innumerable shrill whistling sounds filled the air as gusts of wind, carrying minute dust particles, swirled into a whirlwind that blanketed the space above the villa.

Rebecca, standing less than twenty meters from the villa, frowned at the scene.

"Strange…" she murmured. "How could a void rift appear here?"

Rumble! Rumble!

The ground trembled, the villa collapsing like a house of cards, then disintegrating into countless tiny dust particles, swept up into the sky by the void winds.

Rebecca realised something and immediately swung her hand out, grasping the space in front of her.

The space she gripped twisted and distorted like fabric.

No, more accurately… she was grasping the darkness in front of her.

The darkness seemed to transform into a cloth, following the movement of Rebecca's hand, enveloping her entire body within.

The void rift, initially about three meters tall and one meter wide, was shaped like a diamond.

However, now it had reached a height of over five meters and a width of over two meters. Furthermore, the matter being sucked inside was slowly compressed into a small sphere.

The space around the void rift vibrated violently, creating countless small shockwaves that continuously spread outwards.

Like a balloon inflated to its bursting point.

The void rift was the same.

Less than ten seconds later, a terrifying explosion rang out.

BAM!

The horrifying sound was accompanied by a shockwave like a furious hurricane, carrying the particles of matter it had sucked in, blasting them outwards.

The shockwave, centered on the void rift, spread out at a terrifying speed.

Wherever it swept through, trees and earth were plowed up, and everything was overturned. Even trees over twenty meters tall were blown high into the air like leaves.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

At this moment, Uncle Wells, carrying Negut as they fled, felt the ground tremble and immediately knew something was wrong.

BAM!

Negut and Uncle Wells were startled by the terrifying explosion. Without hesitation, Uncle Wells set Negut down and stood protectively in front of him.

"Silver Knight - Armament!" Uncle Wells roared.

Immediately afterward, a flash of silver light enveloped Uncle Wells' body.

However, the light appeared and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

As the light vanished, Uncle Wells was clad in silver armor, a heavy shield in his left hand and a greatsword in his right.

"Young Master, get behind me."

Negut obeyed Uncle Wells without hesitation.

Uncle Wells quickly raised his heavy shield in front of him. Divine silver light radiated from the shield, forming an invisible protective dome.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

Hidden behind Uncle Wells, Negut witnessed a scene he thought he'd only see in science fiction films.

A shockwave, carrying countless black dust particles, rushed towards them at a terrifying speed.

The sturdy granite-paved road was plowed up by the shockwave, the stones blown away like leaves.

However, no one dared underestimate these 'leaves'. Propelled by the terrifying speed of the shockwave, the granite stones had transformed into projectiles with devastating power.

"Silver Fortress!" Uncle Wells shouted.

The silver light enveloping Wells and Negut shone even brighter.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

The shockwave swept over them, countless granite stones colliding with the dome of light, producing ear splitting impacts.

However, Negut now realized… just how different a survivor was from an ordinary person.

A survivor's power could easily allow them to escape this disaster.

In fact, sheltered within the dome of light, Negut couldn't even feel how violently the outside world was shaking.

Inside the dome of light, Negut still did not feel any wind while inside the protective dome.

Almost a minute passed, and Negut saw that the outside was filled with dust, obscuring everything around them.

Combined with the fact that it was past 10 pm, Negut couldn't see anything but blackness.

"Silver Vanguard!" Uncle Wells suddenly shouted, the silver light radiating from his shield intensifying.

Immediately afterward, a whirlwind erupted from Uncle Wells, blowing outwards.

WHOOSH!!!

The wind howled, the gale clearing away all the surrounding dust, revealing a scene of devastation as if a massive tornado had just swept through.

"Young Master, be careful," Uncle Wells immediately warned. "Something is very strange; it seems that Void Rift wasn't F Rank."

"With a disaster this powerful, it's probably reached Rank D or even D+."

Negut took a deep breath, anxiety rising in his chest as he understood the implication of Uncle Wells' words.

If the void rift had been only Rank F, the monsters emerging from it would be at most level 20.

With the strength of his security team, Uncle Wells, and Rebecca, he was confident they could easily destroy those monsters.

But if the void rift was Rank D or even D+, things were not so simple.

The void monsters emerging from that rift could very well have surpassed level 20, perhaps even reaching level 30.

Although Uncle Wells possessed the level 49 "Silver Knight" class, facing a horde of level 30 void monsters would put his life at risk.

It was a known fact that if a Survivor and a void monster were of equal level, the void monster would almost certainly win.

Why?

Because human stamina and magical power were finite, while void monsters could fight endlessly without tiring.

Furthermore, the physical strength of void monsters was also a notch above humans.

Therefore, unless a human had a higher level than the monster and was part of a group with diverse classes supporting each other, they shouldn't face them alone.

"Young Master, you go ahead, I'll hold them off here," Uncle Wells said with a frown.

Negut: "..."

"Uncle Wells, I'm more likely to encounter danger if I run alone," Negut sighed. "At least by your side, if danger arises, I have you to protect me."

Uncle Wells considered this and nodded. "Then… if I can't hold back the monsters, Young Master, you must run."

"Understood!" Negut nodded.

He didn't want to play the hero, and he wasn't capable of it either.

He just wanted to complete this trial quickly.

Near the villa, the curtain of darkness enveloping Rebecca slowly dissipated.

She stood still on the ground; her body was void of injuries.

At this moment, countless dark figures rushed out from the void rift.

Looking closely, one could see they were monsters. Their forms were bizarre, like black smoke encased in fragments of armor.

The void monsters charged towards Rebecca, but she wasn't afraid. Instead, a hint of annoyance flashed in her eyes: "D Rank? Tsk! Looks like… I'll have to work a little overtime today."

"Ah! While others are out on dates, I'm stuck working overtime. Life is so unfair."
