Chereads / Chaotic Era - Heavenly Destined Villain / Chapter 34 - I… will protect you

Chapter 34 - I… will protect you

"Impossible!" Alec roared: "You're lying to me. You're definitely lying to me."

"I only committed an ordinary crime; I just need to pay a little bail and I can be released. How can I be imprisoned here for many years?"

"Hahahaha... this brat, are you dreaming?" One inmate laughed loudly: "I've been here for over a year; do you think I'm stupid enough not to distinguish between a serious crime and a minor one?"

"I killed a Survivor, so I'm imprisoned here for 10 years. This is the second year, these two idiots also committed major crimes, this brat trafficked drugs, and this brat trafficked human organs."

"Kid, do you think this place is for people who commit crimes that can be released just by paying money?"

Alec opened his mouth wide, his face full of disbelief.

Suddenly, he remembered something and immediately muttered: "It must be Negut. That's right, Negut used his power to force me into prison, then falsified my charges."

Alec immediately gripped the bars, shouting: "Negut! Don't let me escape, otherwise, I will definitely kill you, chop you into a hundred pieces, chew your bones, and drink your blood!"

"Negut! Don't think you can crush me with your power. I will escape from here, I will find you, I will... ack!"

Alec didn't finish speaking as the three inmates hit his back, causing him to fall to the ground.

"Tsk! Kid, I've been needing to relieve some stress lately. Luckily you showed up, hahahaha…"

"Alright, hit him, just don't let him die."

"That's right, we'll still need him later. Such a high-quality punching bag, how can we let him die easily?"

The three men used their fists and feet as if venting all their anger and stress onto Alec's body.

Alec opened his eyes wide, staring at the camera as if knowing that Negut was watching him.

Although he was submerged in pain, he didn't scream, on the contrary, his eyes became more ferocious and hateful towards Negut.

Negut, despite seeing the scene through the screen, shuddered at Alec's terrifying gaze.

'What the hell? I didn't do anything; for the past two days I've been trying to increase my friendliness with the protagonist.'

'In the end… the protagonist pours all his hatred on me. Where is the fairness? Where is the justice?'

Negut wondered inwardly, he didn't know why every time the protagonist encountered trouble or bad luck, he thought it was all caused by the villain.

If the protagonist gets beaten by other people, it's all because of the villain.

If the protagonist gets tricked by others, it's all because of the villain.

If the protagonist has a bad meal and gets constipated, it's all because of… alright, the villain isn't human, trash goes in the trash can, and the blame goes on the villain's head.

Negut glanced at Selvia while thinking to himself: 'Seeing Alec beaten like this, she must be heartbroken.'

'After all, she and Alec are childhood friends. Seeing a friend get beaten would make me angry, and this is the man she likes who is being beaten like this, she must be even angrier.'

In reality, Selvia couldn't focus on what was being displayed on the tablet screen.

Her mind was currently occupied with enjoying Negut's embrace.

Like a lazy white cat, greedily enjoying her owner's warmth, oblivious to anything else happening.

"AAAA!!"

Suddenly, a horrific scream rang out from the tablet.

Negut frowned as Alec looked like he had gone mad; he screamed shrilly, writhing on the ground like a worm, his hands clutching his head.

Negut's eyes stared at the screen, then glanced at the system notification panel.

Time until the Death Event: only three minutes.

It must be known that currently Alec was bound by the 'Equality Chains', so all the special powers and talents of a Survivor had disappeared.

At this moment, Alec was no different from an ordinary person.

Negut had even arranged for Alec to be placed in an extremely secure prison cell.

To escape, it was feared that even a level 30 Survivor couldn't do it. Therefore, someone bound by the 'Equality Chains' certainly couldn't escape that prison.

Why didn't Negut kill Alec in prison?

Negut had also thought about that.

After learning that Billy had set a huge trap to put the protagonist in jail, he had also considered it.

Could he use other survivors or any means to kill Alec while he was imprisoned?

The answer was probably no.

Too many variables could occur.

It must be known that he was facing the protagonist, not an ordinary person.

If it were an ordinary person, with just a wave of Negut's hand, countless people would die.

However, this was the protagonist.

The protagonist's aura was incredibly terrifying and couldn't be explained with normal logic.

What if Alec could use his aura to turn the person sent to assassinate him into his friend?

Or what if, while fighting the assassin, Alec suddenly awakened a hidden skill or someone came to rescue him?

Remember… Alec is the protagonist, not an ordinary person.

Normal logic couldn't be used.

Therefore, Negut decided to prepare everything, then wait and see what Alec could actually do.

After all, the system told him that... 'if' he could overcome the 'Death Event', he could receive a reward.

That had two meanings.

The first meaning, the 'Death Event', if it occurred, Negut still had a chance of surviving successfully.

The second meaning, the 'Death Event' would continuously appear. It was like an event in a game, allowing the player to level up or gain many things.

There was one more thing that Negut suspected, however, he needed to overcome this 'Death Event' first to prove his suspicion.

Back to the present, Alec screamed miserably. It must be known that as he was beaten by the three inmates, he didn't make any sound.

However, now he was writhing like a worm, screaming tragically, and making the three inmates feel scared.

"Re… re… re…"

"What?!" Negut was startled as the signal connecting to the camera was suddenly cut off: "Uncle Wells."

As soon as Negut spoke, Uncle Wells appeared beside him.

"Uncle Wells, you…" Negut was about to say something but immediately fell silent when he saw Uncle Wells holding a tray with two plates of pastries.

Uncle Wells gently placed a plate of pastries on the table in front of Selvia and said: "Miss Selvia, this is the highest quality pastry, please try it."

Selvia blushed, nodding slightly.

Seeing this scene, Uncle Wells smiled with satisfaction, as if he had nothing left to regret if he died right now.

Negut: "..."

"Oy! Uncle Wells, why did you…"

"Young Master, you just signaled me with your eyes, and I immediately knew what you wanted." Uncle Wells replied with a smile: "You were afraid Miss Selvia was hungry, so you wanted me to prepare pastries for her, right?"

"Actually, pastries go very well with tea, bringing us a flavor…"

"Wait a minute! You… you…" Negut interrupted Uncle Wells, stammering, however, he didn't know what to say.

'What the hell? Prepare pastries for what?'

'A last meal for me before I die?'

Finally, Negut sighed and said: "Uncle Wells, check the situation at the police station. The connection has been interrupted."

Hearing this, Uncle Wells's face became slightly serious: "Impossible! The connection between us and the police station is private. Even the cameras there are special types, they can't be destroyed."

"There's only one type of energy that can destroy the cameras there, that is... void energy."

Just as Uncle Wells said, after all, the police station was a place to detain survivors and civilians who committed crimes.

On Earth, criminals were already very dangerous, in this world, survivors were thousands of times more dangerous than ordinary people.

Therefore, the equipment used for detention and observation in the prisons of this world had also been specially designed.

However, void energy was still something incredibly mysterious and banned, humanity until now still couldn't decipher that kind of energy.

Therefore, although the electronic devices at the police station could withstand the power of survivors, they couldn't resist void energy.

Hearing Uncle Wells's words, a sense of unease arose in Negut's heart.

"Uncle Wells, contact all my bodyguards, tell them to be on high alert, and don't allow anyone to approach this villa." Negut immediately shouted.

Uncle Wells was also startled upon hearing this, however, looking at Negut's serious and worried face, he knew Negut wasn't joking.

"Rebecca, stop watching the movie too!"

"Heh?!" Rebecca frowned: "You…"

"Shut up! You have to protect me now, focus on me, understand?" Negut immediately interrupted Rebecca.

Seeing Negut transform into a different person, Rebecca also knew that something seemed wrong.

Negut then released Selvia and said: "You should leave here. I don't know if you're my ally or my enemy. However, I don't want you to stay here."

Selvia flinched at the loss of the warmth from Negut's arms, she turned to look at him with a puzzled expression.

"I… don't want to leave here," she said softly.

"Suit yourself," Negut replied irritably, not paying attention to Selvia. "If you're in danger, I won't protect you."

"It's okay…" Selvia shook her head: "I… will protect you."
