Before we could say anything else a loud siren went off on all the electric devices. It shocked all of us to the core as I swiftly pulled out my phone from my right leg pocket, my family following my lead pulled out theirs as well. As I read the warning I quickly realized that our city was targeted by the enemy country.
We were at war with a neighboring nation but we never felt like it. The war took place on the other side of the country and did not concern us so it came as a surprise when this happened. "Mom" I said as I looked at her with a face full of fear.
Before we could do anything else I heard a big bang and everything went white. In that split second I could see my blood vessels and bones through my skin, it was like I had X-ray vision, it was terrifying. Shortly after I bagan to feel a burning pain across my entire body along with the shaking of the house my face began to fall of. I was in pain, my eye ball was falling out and my skin was melting; I couldn't help but scream in pain. Along with my screams came the screams of my family members, it was gut wrenching. Soon after the house collapsed on us and I could feel something pierce my abdomen.
The searing pain and the screams of my family was my lullaby as I slowly fell out of consciousness and into the darkness. Within the darkness were five other small lights and I quickly grabbed ahold of them hoping for the after effects of the burns would cool down. To my surprise they seemed to also grab ahold of me holding on tightly not letting go. It was a strange embrace of pain and suffering but a mutual longing for the light.
Before long the pain went away and soon after I felt a gravitational pull towards the endless darkness. I held on tight to the lights as they to strengthened there grip on each other and myself, afraid to let go. We fell with extreme speed and with that I squeeze my eyes shut hoping not to fall to my death, before long we suddenly stoped. I slowly opens my eyes to see a giant white hole floating in front of us. I was mesmerized as inside of it was a lush green forest with animals drinking at a pond.
I had never seen plants so green before, as forest were almost nonexistent back where I came from. Before long I snapped out of my dazed state only to look down and see my hands gradually take form and coloring themselves in. I was shocked and quickly looked around for the white lights I was holding only to find that they too were slowly but surely regaining their human forms.
I was shocked as I watched them regain their legs and hands before slowly regaining their body's then face. They were my family, no one was left behind. Tears started falling from my face as I tried to float over to there location. "Mom" I yelled as I crashed into her arms, squeezing her not wanting to let go. I could feel her tears fall on my cheeks as she to squeeze me tight and said "David, kids, come here". I could feel the warmth of her skin and the gradual increase of temperature from my other family members.
I turned and held on to as many of them as possible and we cried together. After some time we gradually stoped and looked at the giant white hole in front of us. Before long we heard a deep and friendly voice say "hallo? …Are you guys ok?". We were startled and quickly looked around trying to find the owner of the voice. "Hallo?" I said nervously as I continued to look around. "We're are you?" I continue before the voice responded "you will not be able to see me as I am not fiscally there." He said with a hint of sadness present in his voice.
I was shocked as I looked at my dad with a nervous expression, he quickly noticed and conferted me by patting me on the back with a smile. "May I know who you are" asked my mother in a questioning tone. "Oh, pardon my rudeness, my name is Daray and I am what you would call a Demi-god." Said the voice with a hint of enthusiasm. I was speechless as I looked at my twin brother in confusion, he too looked at me with the same look in his eyes.
"Uhmm, Daray was it, why did you bring us here?" Said my dad as he continued to look around. I quickly turned my head towards him, looking at his face then also continued to look around. Daray Chuckled then said with even more excitement "well I am giving you an opportunity." Jack quickly responded this time and said with a hint of wariness in his voice "what type of opportunity?"
Daray hummed in surprise before quickly answering the question "I will be giving you new body's and you will go live in another world". Me and my family fell into silence, I looked at Jack who had a dumbfounded expression on his face then I quickly asked "will we be able to stay together?".
Daray was silent for a while making me nervous before a loud laughter echoed through the dark space, he then said "if that is what you want, then it shall be. Anyway you don't have to be a human in this world so make your demands of what features you will want and I will decide the creature for you." He paused then said "I will go out of my way to make you all the same creatures so don't worry too much".
I looked at everyone as they too looked at each other but before we could start talking Elena suddenly said with a timid voice "can we be a creature that can see in the dark?". Everyone paused and looked at Elena, then Daray said in a soft and comforting voice "of course you can, now is there any other request?" Elena smiled brightly as silence filled the space once again before Oliver excitedly said "can we have wings and be able to fly?"
Daray Replied with more enthusiasm "why yes that is possible, if you would like I can even make you big for the creatures spices". Oliver Was elected and swiftly nodded his head. "Me, my turn" said Jack as he raised his hand in the air, "yes and what would you like?" Asked Daray with a hint of curiosity present in his voice.
Jack swiftly answered with excitement and curiosity "can we choose our coloration?". Daray was surprised but quickly said "yes, I will give you the ability to do so". Jack nodded to himself and before anyone else said anything I said "can I have the same colors as Oliver? I'm tired of people saying we look nothing alike and couldn't possibly be twins. And also can we choose them together, I want to change my look too?"
Daray Was swift in answering this time and said with a chuckle "yes, I will link your minds so you can pick together". I was elated and looked at Oliver with a big smile and he chuckled with a small smile in response, I knew this was his sign of approval so I went to hug him. "Daray" Said dad, "yes" said Daray with a hint of expectation. "Can we all be related in our new bodies? And have the same roles we have now, like me being the father and Selene being the mother?" Said dad with a questioning voice.
Daray Once again chuckled and said "yes, that is something I can do" dad was elated and said "I thank you from the bottom of my heart Daray, you have given us a great opportunity and I will be forever thankful to you. If you ever need any assistance, whatever it may be, I will do my utmost to help you. Though you may not need it". I could feel dad's sincerity and I quickly said "me to, if you need my help just tell me" and with that the whole family voiced their agreement to help Daray if he ever needed it.
Daray Was speechless and didn't respond for a while. After a while I thought I had offended the great demy-god but before I could speak Daray said with a voice that was chocked up "thank you, I really appreciate your words" he paused then continued "is that all you want for species customization?"
