Obito's face twisted with a mix of sympathy and uncertainty as he looked at the unconscious forms of Chiyue and Binghuo. They were used to being pushed to their limits during training with Reiki, but seeing it applied to their enemies left Obito uneasy.
"Boss Reiki, what are we going to do with these two now? Should we... just kill them?" Obito suggested, his voice soft, as if seeking reassurance.
Reiki raised an eyebrow at the contradiction in Obito's tone. "How do you sound so sympathetic while saying something so cold?" he said, half-amused, half-disgusted.
Chiyue and Binghuo's eyes fluttered open, a glimmer of hope in them. The children seemed soft-hearted, easily manipulated after showing enough defeat and surrender. They made a mental note to strike back the moment they got the chance.
"Well, if we're not going to kill them, are we going to continue training with them?" Rin questioned, her brows knit in confusion.
"If we keep training against them like this, the effect will diminish," she added. "And when Sensei finishes his fight, we won't have time for this."
Reiki nodded. "Don't worry, I'll take care of it," he said, before turning to lift the barrier. Without warning, he disappeared with Chiyue and Binghuo.
Obito watched him go, curiosity gleaming in his eyes. "Want to follow him?" he whispered to Kakashi.
Kakashi's calm voice cut through the tension. "I'd advise against it. If Reiki's chosen to handle this alone, there's probably a reason we shouldn't know about. Let's wait."
Kakashi sat down, reflecting on the fight. "Think about what you learned. Our individual strength still falls short of Jonin-level. Reiki's likely at that level himself. And don't forget, we have another mission on this trip."
Obito sighed, joining Kakashi and Rin as they sat to evaluate their battles.
Meanwhile, Reiki brought the two mercenaries to an isolated clearing.
"Alright, this is far enough," he said, unrolling a scroll.
Binghuo forced a smile. "Thank you, we promise we won't attack Konoha shinobi again. You truly are kind-hearted."
Chi Yue nodded, playing along. "Reiki, you are indeed a compassionate healer. Even sparing us after our failed attack—remarkable. One day, you'll be the most powerful medic in the ninja world."
Reiki's brow twitched slightly. "I don't know where you got the idea that I'd let you go," he said flatly. "But I have no intention of doing that."
Before the stunned mercenaries could react, Reiki released his chakra, and a white mist emerged, revealing a monstrous snake.
"Don't worry," Reiki said with a twisted kind smile. "I'm kind. I'll first strip you of your consciousness before you're swallowed."
With a swift motion, he pulled their souls, erasing their memories and leaving their lifeless bodies in place. The serpentine creature lunged, devouring them before vanishing in another puff of smoke.
This was one of Orochimaru's gifts to Reiki: a summoning scroll for Ryūchi Cave's purple serpent, Zidian, known for its docile but deadly nature.
Reiki tucked away the scroll, satisfied, and returned to where the others were waiting.
Kakashi, Obito, and Rin were still deep in thought when he arrived. The surrounding area remained silent, but Namikaze Minato's distant fight was still raging, holding back four attackers.
"Ready to go help Brother Minato?" Reiki's voice cut through their focus.
"Sensei? Is he in trouble?" Rin asked, eyes wide.
"Can we go and fight again?" Obito's eyes sparked with excitement.
"Let's go see," Reiki said, leading the way.
The four reached Minato's position just as one of the enemy ninjas, a tall woman with a piercing voice, sneered at the sight of them. "Konoha's so-called Yellow Flash made a mistake, bringing along deadweight like you."
With a swift move, she lunged, her long blade aimed at the newcomers.
Before they could react, Obito felt a stinging pain as her blade nicked his shoulder.
"Watch out! Her blade is unusual!" Rin called, alarmed.
Minato, who was trying to push forward to assist, was blocked by a lithe figure wielding a child-sized sword. "Better worry about yourself, Namikaze Minato," the man said, a grin splitting his face. "Today, you become history. *Dance of Spring Breeze!*"
A flurry of blades spun around Minato, trapping him momentarily. He hoped that Reiki and the others could hold their ground until he managed to deal with these skilled opponents.
