After a brief examination of Tamu's body, Reiki's expression grew serious.
At first, Tamu thought this was a new type of interrogation tactic. But when he saw Reiki's intense expression, a wave of unease washed over him.
He was a member of the Root Organization. He knew well enough what Reiki's reputation was in Konoha—the youngest and most talented medical ninja, with potential even greater than Lady Tsunade's. Seeing that look on Reiki's face made Tamu anxious.
Was there truly something wrong with him?
"Reiki, Medical Ninja, is there something wrong with me?"
Being scrutinized by a renowned medical prodigy in this context was unsettling, so Tamu couldn't help but ask.
"It's not a major issue."
"But the quality of the food in your organization is terrible!"
"And you don't seem to use my potions regularly, do you?"
"Your body and mind are in a poor state."
"Look around—there isn't a single Chunin in Konoha who would go on missions with a body in this condition."
"Anyway, let's get you back to a healthier state first. We'll proceed with the formal interrogation afterward."
Reiki said, pulling out bottles of potions. Under Iga Tsuna's astonished gaze, Reiki began administering the potions to Tamu.
Almost immediately, Tamu's dull appearance started to brighten up, his condition visibly improving.
"Tamu, now comes the last part of my preparation."
"Open your mouth."
Reiki said with a smile.
"What are you going to do?"
Tamu asked, suspicion creeping into his voice. This interrogation was unlike anything he had expected—it felt more like being treated with special care for some great service rendered.
The oddity of it all made Tamu more nervous.
"I'm just a medical ninja, and still a kid at that."
"What ill intentions could I possibly have?"
"I'm here to help you remove the curse seal."
Reiki said nonchalantly.
"What?"
"What!?"
Not only was Tamu stunned, but Iga Tsuna, who had been silently taking notes, jumped up from his seat.
Every member of the Root Organization bore a curse seal known as the *Seal of the Tongue's Deterrence*. This seal prevented them from speaking about Danzo or disclosing sensitive information. If they tried, it would paralyze them or even kill them remotely. Only Danzo himself could remove this seal, and any attempt by someone else would activate it.
Iga Tsuna, as the head of the Interrogation Department, knew all about this. Tamu, of course, was even more aware.
"Are you trying to kill me?"
Tamu's voice was filled with dread.
"Trust me; you won't die."
"And, as I mentioned, the quality of the food at Root is terrible."
"I'm just setting you up in a place where you'll get better meals and solving some historical issues while I'm at it..."
Reiki said, placing his glowing blue hands on Tamu's face. The calming chakra technique he used immediately soothed Tamu, sending him into a deep, restorative sleep.
Now came the crucial part.
The curse seal, a formidable mark in most circumstances, was no match for Reiki's mastery. With both hands, he meticulously worked on breaking the seal without triggering it.
The reason Reiki hadn't used this technique with the Hyuga clan was simple—it was their internal matter, and he had no place interfering. But the dealings of Danzo, combined with their history, made this a different story.
Iga Tsuna leaned in, eyes wide with disbelief. The removal of a curse seal set by Danzo was unprecedented.
After ten minutes, Reiki withdrew his hands, a soft beep from the system confirming the success. A smile tugged at his lips.
Tamu's soul was gently stimulated, bringing him back to consciousness.
"The curse seal has been lifted."
"Now we can move on to the formal interrogation."
"Our main focus today is to determine whether the Root Organization has conducted activities contrary to the village's values and undermined the Will of Fire."
"Special Jonin Tamu, please speak honestly if you know anything."
"I do have special methods for extracting memories, but I'd rather not use them. It's too exhausting."
Reiki said with a warm smile.
"I'm just a low-ranking member of Root; I don't have access to critical information."
"Our tasks are usually pursuit and retrieval missions sanctioned by documents."
Tamu's voice wavered with hesitation. The curse was indeed gone, but the implications of revealing certain details were daunting. The relationship between Danzo and Sarutobi Hiruzen was complex, full of shadows that no one dared to illuminate.
Without Reiki present, even if he confessed to Iga Tsuna, the head of the Interrogation Department wouldn't dare publicize it. But Reiki was Tsunade's disciple. If he knew, Tsunade would know, and Tsunade wouldn't hesitate to disrupt Konoha's fragile balance.
"Don't worry, my teacher won't hear about this directly."
"And I won't tell her."
"The results of this interrogation will be handed over to the Hokage's office promptly."
"And if you're looking to break free from Root's influence, I think I can help with that."
Reiki said, maintaining his friendly demeanor.
Tamu froze at Reiki's words. He'd heard whispers about Reiki's ability to read minds but thought it was a myth.
Everything he'd just considered had been seen through!
Meanwhile, Iga Tsuna sat there, thinking: *Who am I? Where am I? What am I witnessing?*
Reiki's interrogation method was baffling even as he watched it unfold.
"I'll talk."
"But I don't know much."
"In the past, there were cases where ninjas who refused to join Root were given 'pursuit' missions the next day."
"And a jonin who saved up to open a shop... Root agents were in charge of laundering dirty money through that place..."
...
Tamu started recounting everything he knew. If this information hadn't come directly from a Root member, Iga Tsuna might have dismissed it as slander. These incidents could be minor or significant, depending on how they were interpreted. And while Tamu's knowledge was limited, there were other members who had been closer to Root's inner circle and would hold more damning evidence.
Iga Tsuna glanced at Reiki, concern etched on his face. This was highly sensitive information that could set Konoha on fire.
