After hearing Reiki's words, Hatake Sakumo remained silent for a moment.
"Is this Konoha's medical ninja? You must be quite skilled to see the issues with my body, correct?" Maitreya said with a gentle smile as she looked at Reiki.
"Hello, Lady Maitreya. My name is Reiki, and my teacher is Tsunade," Reiki introduced himself briefly. In the ninja world, there was no greater credential for a medical ninja than being a disciple of Tsunade.
"Tsunade? Tsunade-sama of the Senju clan, known as Konoha's medical sage?" Maitreya's eyes lit up. "It seems I am fortunate today."
She stepped closer to Reiki, extending her hand. Although Maitreya looked fair and elegant, Reiki knew that this was due to her fragile physical state, a result of prolonged exposure to the monster's chakra.
"Uncle Sakumo, Shisui, Nozuki, please go and wait for me at the residence. This may take some time," Reiki said as he touched Maitreya's arm, his face growing serious.
"Understood," Sakumo replied, exchanging glances with Shisui and Nozuki. They nodded in agreement and bid Maitreya farewell. It was the first time they had seen Reiki with such a serious expression during treatment, so they asked no questions and left, knowing they could not assist.
"Reiki, I know how long my body can endure. After this sealing, I will likely not survive," Maitreya said, her tone calm despite the situation.
"Are you pregnant?" Reiki asked, his curiosity piqued as he studied her.
"Yes," Maitreya responded softly. "If possible, please try to save her. The legacy of the miko must not end here," she said with a bittersweet smile. She knew that her child's birth was not a blessing; it was a fateful burden.
"I understand. I'll do my best. Lady Maitreya, please lie down," Reiki instructed, taking a deep breath. He was nervous. While he had treated a fetus before, Maitreya's case was different. Both the fetus and Maitreya's own body were in critical condition.
Reiki placed his hands on her and immediately felt the oppressive force of the monster's energy. It enveloped him, resisting his attempts at healing. If he increased the intensity, it could harm the child.
What should he do?
"If it's too difficult, it's okay. Perhaps this is fate," Maitreya said softly, a tear slipping down her cheek. It was a look of helplessness.
"Please trust me, Lady Maitreya. I may use some unconventional methods. No matter what happens, please do not resist. If you do, I might not be able to treat you," Reiki said, withdrawing momentarily. The chakra he had expended in just a few moments was staggering. The monster's chakra was formidable.
"If there's even the slightest chance, I am willing to fight for it," Maitreya replied, nodding. She felt an inexplicable trust in Reiki, an intuition of the miko's that told her he meant no harm.
"Alright. Wait a moment while I recover," Reiki said, drinking a potion to replenish his energy. He also reached out to the chakras of Chongming and Kurama within him, seeking their assistance.
After regaining some strength, Reiki raised his hand. "ROOM Scalpel!" He activated his abilities and targeted the crucial parts of Maitreya's body. Maitreya's initial reaction was fear, but she calmed when she saw the determined look in Reiki's eyes.
"Trust me," he said again, and she nodded.
With Maitreya's trust, Reiki resumed, releasing his healing energy. The monster's chakra lashed out like a wild beast, trying to invade his own body.
"You're nothing but a beast. How dare you defy me?!" Reiki shouted, unleashing his full power. "Healing Spirit, descend!"
The energy in his hands flared with an intense glow.
"What kind of technique is he using?" Chongming murmured, stunned.
"I don't know, but his chakra consumption is immense!" Kurama replied, equally astonished. Normally, Reiki never relied on their chakra during treatment, but now he was drawing it at an alarming rate.
From the void, a giant hand materialized and captured the demon's will, crushing it in an instant.
A muffled noise echoed as the ominous presence vanished.
Reiki exhaled deeply, dropping the now-empty potion bottles to the floor. With the demon's will subdued, the remaining task was to cleanse Maitreya's body of residual energy. This process took until late at night, leaving Reiki exhausted as he collapsed.
"Lady Maitreya, it's done. I'll need to rest," he muttered, using the last of his strength to reset the fetus. "ROOM," he said as he completed the procedure, then fell into a deep sleep. The system had confirmed the successful treatment, and he chose to recover naturally.
Maitreya, now standing, felt the changes within her. Relief flooded her as she gently lifted Reiki and laid him on the bed, a warm smile crossing her face, now filled with hope and newfound confidence.
"Thank you, Reiki," she whispered, covering him with a blanket before leaving the room. The physical battle had been won, but now it was time to face the true threat.
Meanwhile, deep within the seal, a purple-black form stirred, agitated. The demon had sensed the power that had erased its will and now realized that such a force might be capable of truly destroying it.
The monster's chakra began to riot, preparing for the coming conflict.
