Upon hearing Shisui's voice, Uchiha Fugaku set aside his frustrations and refocused.
"Reiki, the medical ninja, let him come over," Fugaku responded. The Uchiha clan had received treatment from Reiki before, with promising results. Plus, Reiki had taken the initiative to come, and Fugaku didn't want to turn him away.
Shisui quickly found Reiki and led him to Fugaku without mentioning the intense discussion he had just witnessed.
"Hello, Minister Fugaku," Reiki greeted, sitting quietly afterward. He had already observed many of the Uchiha members who could benefit from his treatment, but one look at Fugaku told him that the clan's issues went beyond physical ailments. For now, he decided to hold off on offering treatment.
"Thank you for coming, Reiki," Fugaku said, smiling. "Most of our ninjas have received systematic treatment already, so we may not need additional assistance for now. Apologies for any inconvenience."
"Understood, Minister Fugaku," Reiki replied, standing up to leave. "By the way, isn't your wife close to her due date? Feel free to come to me for a check-up if you'd like. Some things might not be apparent yet."
With that, Reiki turned and left, leaving Shisui and Fugaku a bit bewildered. Usually, if someone came with a purpose, they would at least try to make their case, yet Reiki had only offered a reminder about Mikoto's upcoming birth.
"Shisui, is there some tension between you two?" Fugaku asked, puzzled.
"Uh… no," Shisui stammered, equally confused. He didn't understand why Reiki had left so quickly. Reiki had only come to help—likely because Shisui was a fellow Uchiha. What other reason could he have?
"You should also get some rest, Shisui," Fugaku said after a moment of silence. "You've been through a lot lately."
With that, Fugaku stood and left, returning to his room where Mikoto was resting peacefully.
"Could there be something wrong with the baby?" Fugaku murmured, gazing at her with concern. After thinking it over, he resolved to seek Reiki's help, knowing Reiki had previously detected issues with Mikoto's health.
---
Meanwhile, Shisui caught up with Reiki outside.
"Reiki, why did you leave so quickly?" Shisui asked, confused.
"Do you not understand?" Reiki asked, interrupting him. Shisui had survived a life-and-death battle, but there was still a bit of naïveté about him. "Right now, it's not the right time for me to treat the Uchiha clan."
"Why… not?" Shisui asked, still puzzled.
"Minister Fugaku has only recently taken on the role of clan leader. Right now, stability is what he needs most," Reiki explained. "The Uchiha will need to make some adjustments, and in time, you'll understand why."
Reiki looked at Shisui. "As an Uchiha, you'll be involved in the ongoing tension between your clan and Konoha's leadership. If you ever feel uncertain, you can come to me."
With that, Reiki left, leaving Shisui to reflect.
"Reiki… how do you know so much about our Uchiha clan?" Shisui murmured, lost in thought. After a long silence, he finally turned and left.
---
Later that evening, back home, Reiki covered Shizune with a blanket and focused on refining his chakra. The Uchiha situation was beyond his influence for now. Until Shisui grew stronger, Reiki's best course was to prioritize his own training.
---
The following day, upon arriving at the hospital, Reiki noticed a designated task on his task board.
"Uchiha Fugaku?" Reiki smiled, amused at the prompt response. It seemed his suggestion about Mikoto's health had struck a chord.
"Shizune, let's go," Reiki said. "We're treating a special patient today."
In the intermediate independent ward, Fugaku and Mikoto were already waiting.
"Reiki," Fugaku greeted, standing.
"Hello, Reiki," Mikoto added with a smile, grateful for the help Reiki had offered before.
"Minister Fugaku, Lady Mikoto," Reiki responded. "Minister Fugaku, could you step outside for a moment? I'll call you back in once I've completed the examination."
Fugaku nodded, and Shizune guided him to the waiting area outside.
Once they were alone, Mikoto turned to Reiki, a hint of worry in her eyes. "Reiki, thank you for suggesting this check-up. Is everything alright with my baby?"
"Please don't worry, Lady Mikoto," Reiki reassured her. "I just want to confirm that the previous issue has fully resolved."
After a thorough examination, Reiki was relieved to find that both Mikoto and her unborn child were in good health. "You and the baby are both doing well, Lady Mikoto. Continue to rest and keep a positive outlook. I'm certain your child will grow up to be remarkable."
"Thank you, Reiki," Mikoto said, visibly relieved. "Could I ask you one more favor?"
"Of course, Lady Mikoto," Reiki replied.
Mikoto hesitated but continued. "Fugaku and I discussed it… This child is a miracle we're only able to have because of your help. Would you honor us by choosing a name for him?"
Her request took Reiki by surprise, and Mikoto smiled warmly. "Fugaku agrees as well."
