As Reiki treated Asuma, his system notifications continued to chime:
>[Ding, congratulations to the host, you have completed the debridement process and obtained medical points...]
>[Ding, congratulations to the host, you have completed the fracture treatment and obtained medical points...]
Reiki's grin widened. Asuma, despite his protests, had become an ideal practice partner, allowing Reiki to rack up valuable experience and points with every treatment.
Finally, the session ended, and Asuma sat up, rubbing his healed injuries. "Reiki, I thought you'd take it easy on me…"
Obito chuckled, "Asuma, this is the real training. We've all been through it. Don't worry; you'll catch up."
Asuma brightened, his competitive spirit reignited. "Alright then. I'll beat you all next time."
As the group wrapped up training, Reiki headed off to the hospital for his day's work, jumping straight into rounds without a moment's break.

Three days later, outside the intermediate ward…
"You know, Tsunade-sama's disciple is really something," a medical ninja remarked, watching Reiki's non-stop work.
"He's treated more patients in the past few days than most of us in a month," another agreed. "And he's not even taking the tasks for himself!"
A small group of med-nins huddled outside, debating whether to approach Reiki. Though they admired him, his tireless work left them feeling sidelined. Finally, they were spared the decision when Tsunade appeared.
"Roy, step out for a moment," Tsunade called.
The other medical ninjas instantly parted, standing at attention. During this time, Tsunade-sama's temper had been particularly sharp, and no one wanted to test it.
"Teacher?" Reiki asked, puzzled.
"Come with me," she ordered. After instructing Shizune to finish up the remaining cases, Tsunade led Reiki to her office. Once inside, she fixed him with a stern look.
"From now on," she said, "you are to take on assignments formally, no more freelancing treatments. And, unless it's an emergency, leave at least ten tasks on the list for others."
"But, Teacher, I—"
"No buts," Tsunade cut him off. "You're a Chunin now, Reiki, and it's time to handle your responsibilities appropriately. Next year, I want you aiming to become a recognized leader in the medical team, ready to manage work in the advanced ward."
Reiki nodded sheepishly, realizing he might have overstepped. "I understand, Teacher."
Tsunade softened, sensing his disappointment. "Reiki, I know you're trying to help me with… certain things, but don't forget to take care of yourself, too."
She placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm leaving the village for a while. Don't go looking into those matters without my permission."
Before he could reply, she disappeared, leaving him alone in the office. He let out a sigh of relief. *At least I'm not getting in trouble.*
Sitting back, he mulled over her words. *Maybe she's right. Ordinary means won't get me the answers I need. But… what about those with special access?*
---
The next afternoon, after a day of working alongside senior medical ninjas and learning their techniques, Reiki left the hospital. The change in his approach quickly won over his colleagues, who appreciated his diligence and respectful attitude.
As he left with Shizune, a few of the other med-nins invited him to join them for dinner, offering suggestions from Ichiraku Ramen to a new barbeque place.
After politely declining, he and Shizune headed home. They had barely finished dinner when a faint chakra presence rippled through the courtyard.
"Reiki, Medical Ninja, Hokage-sama requests your presence," announced an ANBU in a lynx mask, appearing out of the shadows.
