At Konoha Hospital's personnel department…
"Change positions?" Ji Pu looked at Reiki thoughtfully. "Reiki, this assignment was chosen by Lady Tsunade herself. She wants you to focus on getting a strong foundation by handling basic responsibilities. Your talent is undeniable, but remember, you're still young."
"I understand, sir," Reiki replied, nodding. "But I believe my choice is right. I want to be on the front lines. A medical ninja's strength should be dedicated to treatment where it's needed, not confined to the back."
Ji Pu studied him with a smile, impressed by his determination. Next to him, a little girl, about three years old, looked up at Reiki with wide, curious eyes.
"Big brother is right, Dad!" she piped up, chiming in unexpectedly.
"Gunav, this is a conversation between adults," Ji Pu said gently, trying to steer her away.
"Dad, I want to be a medical ninja too, and I want to help the injured with everything I've got!" She stuck her tongue out at him playfully before skipping off to the side.
"Sorry about that, Reiki," Ji Pu chuckled. "Now, regarding your request for reassignment… if you insist on being on the front line, you'd need to consult Tsunade-sama. Otherwise, this office position is the best I can offer."
"That's fine," Reiki said with a grin. "You'll find me climbing the walls if I have to sit in an office all day. I'll speak to her now. Thank you, Ji Pu-sama!"
Just then, a familiar voice cut in. "No need, Reiki. I'm already here."
"Teacher?" Reiki turned, surprised to see Tsunade stepping into the room.
"Well done," she said, beaming at him. "You've chosen your own path, and you're willing to stand by it. This is your way of the ninja, Reiki. Don't ever lose it."
Reiki grinned, proud to have earned her approval. "I'm glad I didn't let you down, Teacher. So, when can I get started?"
"Since you're so eager," Tsunade smirked. "What's this 'extra power' you wanted?"
Reiki straightened, his face serious. "I'd like the right to prioritize the treatment of the injured."
Both Tsunade and Ji Pu exchanged surprised glances.
"Reiki," Tsunade cautioned, "every patient who enters the hospital is in urgent need. You can't let personal practice goals get in the way of patient lives."
"Of course not, Teacher," Reiki reassured her. "I just mean that if I'm certain I can complete the treatment 100%, I'd like to take priority with those cases."
Tsunade considered his request for a moment. "Ji Pu, see to it that he's given this privilege."
"Understood," Ji Pu replied, nodding as Tsunade left.
"Tsunade-sama, you're the best!" Reiki cheered, feeling as though he'd cleared a huge hurdle.
Ji Pu gave Reiki a supportive smile. "Alright, your transfer's approved. But even as Tsunade's disciple, you'll still start with the basic assignments. I'll make sure the department is informed about your special privilege. Now, whenever you're ready, you can begin checking the daily assignments."
"Thank you, Ji Pu-sama!" Reiki grinned, already thinking ahead to his new role.
…
"Brother Reiki!" Shizune ran up to him, clutching his arm excitedly. "You're finally my teacher! You can't keep any secrets from me now!"
"Of course," Reiki laughed. "But remember, in the hospital, we're colleagues. We have to act professionally."
With that, Reiki changed into his hospital attire and led Shizune to the department's task board.
Scanning the assignments, he noted each one was an opportunity to build experience. Some patients were familiar faces from his previous rotations, and he knew many of the treatments well.
"Shizune, which case would you choose?" Reiki asked, wanting to involve her in the decision-making.
"I'd pick this external trauma case," Shizune replied confidently. "It's quick and straightforward, and since it's a surface wound, I can assist!"
Reiki smiled, watching her enthusiasm. Together, they stepped into the beginning of what promised to be a day filled with practical experience and growth.
