Chapter 78 - Chapter 78: Jokes and such.

The sun came in softly through the window, illuminating the room peacefully. Emily and Matthew were awake, but still snuggled between the sheets, relaxing after a peaceful night. Matthew, with a mischievous smile on his face, looked at Emily and joked: "Look at us, we almost look like a husband and wife, don't we? Waking up together, all that's missing is breakfast in bed."

Emily laughed, fixing her messy hair, and, with a playful look, turned to him. "Hmm, so when are you going to ask for my hand in marriage, huh?" She smiled, letting the question flow like a joke, but with a touch of curiosity.

Matthew, with his eyes shining with amusement, made a face as if he was thinking about the answer. "Well, for that, I would need to leave my current one. But are you willing to accept me like this?" He spoke in a joking tone, as if it were something completely unthinkable.

Emily looked at him with an indignant expression, unable to hold back her smile, and, on impulse, began to hit him, playing with her closed fists. "I'll show you if I'm willing!" She continued with the light slaps, but there was evident amusement in her voice.

Matthew, laughing at Emily's attitude, pulled her closer, immobilizing her gently. "See? You've got me good, now there's no escape," he said, his voice full of affection. He kissed her delicately, a light and affectionate kiss. Then, with a mischievous touch, he gave a little slap on her butt, causing Emily to giggle.

Without losing his rhythm, he lifted her out of nowhere, making her cling to his waist. Emily, surprised, wrapped her legs around him, laughing and feeling the joy of that game. "You're getting strong, huh?" She joked, and, with her eyes shining with pleasure, asked: "Now carry me to the bathroom, go on. I need to brush my teeth."

Matthew held her tightly, his sweet, honeyed smile never leaving his face. "Of course, my love. I would do anything to spoil you," he said, his voice soft and full of tenderness. "I'll carry you wherever you want."

And so, with Emily still in his arms, laughing and feeling her heart warm, Matthew carried her to the bathroom, with both of them completely immersed in the magic of the moment and the affection between them.

The smell of fresh coffee filled the air of the kitchen, as Emily sat at the table, watching Matthew carefully. He was in front of the mirror, getting ready, adjusting his tie and putting on his perfectly tailored suit. His muscles were on display, his shoulders broad, and his posture imposing, as he adjusted every detail of his look. Emily couldn't take her eyes off him, enchanted by Matthew's impeccable physique. His every move was elegant, and the confidence with which he dressed made her admire the man before her even more.

Matthew noticed Emily's gaze and, with a satisfied smile, teased: "Are you drooling, my love? Better wipe that drool off before I completely melt." He looked at her with a mischievous look, his eyes shining with amusement.

Emily, embarrassed, blushed and stood up quickly, going to him. "You have to stop leaving me like this... It's hard not to admire what's in front of me." She helped him adjust his tie, her fingers sliding gently over the fabric, feeling the heat of his skin beneath his suit. She was so close that she could feel his heartbeat, his body in perfect harmony with hers.

When she was done, Emily stood up on tiptoe and, with a mischievous smile, placed a soft kiss on his lips. "My husband is perfect... what would I do if some bitch stole you? I think it's best if you stay home today. I'll support you from now on," she said, her tone mixing amusement and desire.

Matthew, laughing loudly, held her face tenderly, his fingers caressing her soft skin. "You're right, love. Staying home today seems like a good idea. I don't want to risk being 'robbed'." He laughed again, but this time it was soft, passionate, and he kissed her deeply, with a touch of intimacy that reflected the intensity of what they were building together.

Emily felt completely absorbed by that moment, feeling desired, loved and protected, while Matthew wrapped his arms around her, as if there was nothing else around her but the two of them.

Emily got into the car, the engine humming softly as she drove through the streets of M-City on her way to the film set. The sun was still low on the horizon, and she breathed a sigh of relief, feeling calmer after her morning with Matthew. However, something on her mind was still bothering her – Arthur Mars's behavior in the last few days.

When she arrived at the set, parked and got out of the car, she was greeted by the crew with greetings and laughter. But as she took a few steps towards the dressing room, her eyes met Arthur, who was standing near the entrance, visibly pale and nervous. When he noticed Emily, he seemed to panic, his eyes widened and he quickly looked away, turning his back to her.

Emily felt a mix of curiosity and amusement. Arthur was completely disconcerted, clearly avoiding her gaze. She didn't know exactly what was happening, but his behavior had become so noticeable that she couldn't ignore it. She continued on her way, but throughout the day, she kept seeing him avoid looking at her, hiding behind anything he could find, as if her presence was something to be feared.

During lunch break, Emily couldn't help but laugh to herself. The tension in the air was palpable, and Arthur was so out of it that he seemed like a child being caught red-handed. But at the same time, something in his attitude brought her a certain relief. It seemed that he finally understood the message, or at least was more aware of the limits he should respect.

On the set, the crew began to focus on filming, and Emily, despite the distractions in her mind, managed to concentrate on her work. The cameras rolled, the lights adjusted, and she threw herself into her role with renewed dedication. The tension of the previous day seemed to disappear as she immersed herself in the scenes, playing her character with the talent that had taken her so far.

By the end of the afternoon, she was already feeling much better. The discomfort from before had dissipated, and she felt more at peace, focusing only on what really mattered: her work. She knew that there would always be obstacles, but she felt that she was in a safe place, surrounded by people who respected her limits, and, finally, Artur seemed to have understood that.
