After the little incident in the parking lot, Emily and Matthew spent the rest of the morning exploring the Louvre. Each room they entered brought a new discovery, and together they admired the classical sculptures and renowned paintings, especially enchanted by the Mona Lisa and its mysterious aura. Emily, always expressive, commented on each work with enthusiasm, and Matthew, who enjoyed listening to her speak with such a sparkle in her eyes, absorbed every word.
As they strolled through the Egyptian antiquities section, Emily approached a display case with ancient amulets and carved figures. Fascinated, she pointed to a golden necklace with an eye-shaped pendant. "Look, Matt, this is a protective amulet… They used it to ward off bad energy."
Matthew smiled, approaching her. "Maybe I should have worn one of these earlier, it would have protected me from the… unexpected 'friendships'," he joked, winking at her.
Emily laughed and lightly pushed his shoulder. "Very funny. But I'm the only lucky charm you need," she said, her expression amused and affectionate at the same time.
They continued exploring the museum until lunchtime approached. They left the Louvre and found a charming restaurant nearby, where they could relax and enjoy some local cuisine. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, with exposed brick walls and fresh flowers on each table.
While they waited for their meals, Matthew took Emily's hand across the table. "This has been an incredible day. Every moment with you here makes everything seem even more special."
Emily smiled, with a touch of shyness. "I feel that way too. Maybe it's the Paris weather… or maybe it's just because I'm with you."
After lunch, they decided to stroll through the Montmartre neighborhood, known for its charming streets and the iconic Sacré-Cœur Basilica at the top of the hill. The panoramic view of the city was breathtaking, and together they climbed the steps that led up to the basilica, enjoying the scenery and the vibrant atmosphere of the neighborhood.
When they reached the top, Matthew pulled Emily close, his arms around her as they gazed out over the city in the distance. "I could stay here forever with you," he murmured, his voice soft and full of sincerity.
She looked up at him, her heart beating fast. "Me too... Sometimes I think we never experienced anything like this because we were waiting for each other."
He smiled, and their eyes met. It was one of those rare moments where words were not necessary, and they both understood what the other was feeling.
It was late afternoon when they returned to the hotel, their legs tired, but their hearts full of precious memories. After a relaxing bath and a brief rest break, Matthew suggested a special dinner to end the day.
He had booked a table at one of the city's most sophisticated restaurants, located at the top of a building overlooking the Eiffel Tower. When they arrived, Emily was amazed by the exquisite ambiance and the stunning view of the tower lit up against the night sky.
As they ate, the soft glow of the Paris lights in the background made the moment even more romantic. Matthew took advantage of the setting to toast Emily, raising his glass of wine. "To us and all the adventures we'll share yet."
She raised her glass excitedly. "To us."
When dinner was over, they walked back to the hotel, enjoying the fresh Parisian night air. Back in their suite, Matthew and Emily sat on the sofa in the living room, laughing about the day's little stories and sharing their expectations for the days ahead.
In the comfortable silence that followed, he pulled her into a hug and whispered in her ear: "Thank you for being here with me. I don't know what I did to deserve someone like you, but I'll do my best to make you happy."
Emily, touched by his sincerity, closed her eyes, resting her head on his chest. "You already do. More than you know."
The next morning, Emily woke up feeling a little uncomfortable, with a slight pain in her abdomen that made her frown. Realizing the situation, she sighed, wondering how it had come at such an inopportune time. Matthew, still asleep beside her, noticed her movement and slowly opened his eyes.
"Good morning, dear," he murmured, still sleepy. However, when he noticed her expression, his gaze became concerned. "Is everything okay?"
Emily hesitated, but smiled slightly, trying not to show too much discomfort. "It's just... well, my period has arrived."
Matthew was silent for a moment, processing, but soon nodded in understanding. "I see... well, can I help you with something? Do you need medicine or... tampons?"
She laughed softly, a little embarrassed, but pleased with his willingness to help. "Pads, please, and... maybe chocolate, if you don't mind?"
He smiled, already getting out of bed. "Sure! I'll take care of that for you."
A short time later, Matthew walked into a pharmacy near the hotel. Even though he was used to solving challenges in the business world, he felt a little out of place at that moment. He approached the feminine hygiene products shelf, but was briefly stunned by the number of different options.
"Winged, wingless… ultra, regular, long…" he mumbled, reading the labels and trying to decide. Beside him, a saleswoman noticed his discomfort and approached with a friendly smile.
"Can I help you, sir?" she asked.
Matthew, a little embarrassed, nodded. "Yes, it's for my girlfriend… I just wanted something that was comfortable and… well, effective."
She gave him an understanding smile and selected an option for him, explaining some basic differences, which helped ease his discomfort. Satisfied with his purchase, he headed to the chocolate section, remembering Emily's request. He chose a few bars of her favorite chocolate and even added a small box of truffles.
Back at the hotel, he found Emily wrapped in the blanket, looking tired, but smiling when she saw him enter. He handed her the bag of tampons and chocolates, and her smile grew even brighter.
"You really bought everything," she said in awe. "And you even brought my favorite chocolate! You're amazing, Matt."
Matthew sat down next to her, pleased to see her happy. "Anything for you," he said, placing a light kiss on her forehead. "I know you're a little uncomfortable, so I thought I'd do whatever I could to make you feel better."
Emily opened one of the chocolate bars and took a bite, sighing contentedly. "Thank you, Matt. Really. You really make me feel loved and cared for."
He hugged her sideways, resting her head on his shoulder. "That's what I'm here for, honey. Now, how about a day off? We can cancel today's outing and just sit here and watch movies, just the two of us."
She smiled, nodding. "I'd love to."
And so, the day passed in a peaceful and cozy way. Between movies, laughter and lots of chocolate, Emily was able to relax and enjoy Matthew's company. Even with the small inconvenience, his care made her feel safe and loved, showing that their love was capable of transforming any moment into something special.
