The night was alive with terror, the quiet street now echoing with the sounds of our frantic footsteps and the pounding of our hearts. My voice broke through the heavy silence, urgent and raw.
"RUN!"
Without hesitation, I scooped Aoi into my arms, her small body trembling against me as I held her close. Her arms wrapped tightly around my neck, and I could feel her face press against my chest, muffling her frightened cries.
Aiko, equally quick to act, did the same with Arakan, cradling him protectively as she took off beside me. His silver hair spilled over her shoulder, and his small hands clung desperately to her shirt.
"Onii-chan… Aoi's scared!" Aoi's muffled voice broke, trembling with fear.
"Onee-chan… I'm scared too," Arakan whimpered, his face buried in Aiko's chest.
