He felt that pang of regret as he recalled the opportunities he had missed. Sitting for a moment, he tried to grasp the extent of the lost chance.
He imagined how much better off he could be if he had a tool like this one, and he almost drooled at the thought of his future life. But he quickly regained his resolve, realizing that there was no use crying over spilled milk.
"Of course, I never thought about designing a game to fit world-hopping after death," he thought bitterly. For Chang Xin, although he considered himself an otaku who believed in the possibility of other worlds, he had never reached this level of obsession.
He still saw himself as a normal person in the end.
He chuckled to himself, realizing that what he was experiencing now far exceeded the expectations of any ordinary person.
"I may be an otaku, but I was definitely not prepared for this!" he thought, smiling to himself before refocusing on the screen.
"This is amazing! It seems there haven't been major changes to the garden. Most of the original functions are still here, with some adjustments suited to its new state."
Chang Xin felt a brief surge of joy as he inspected his farm. Although he couldn't contact the computer host back on Earth through this garden, he could use all its functions at his will.
Suddenly, he stopped looking at the screen and lifted his head in astonishment. A bold idea popped into his mind, a glimmer of hope amid the complexities of his current situation.
"Maybe I can kill those thieves!" he muttered under his breath, his eyes gleaming with renewed determination.
Gripping a sharp knife with a small trembling hand, he felt a rush of adrenaline flow through his veins, sharpening his thoughts.
"I can use the space's features here to plan carefully and take them down." His sense of complete control over this digital space felt like wielding a hidden weapon.
He couldn't help but feel overwhelming joy. Having a cheat-like tool in this world made him realize the scope of the opportunities awaiting him.
However, he whispered to himself cautiously, "Keep a low profile, keep a low profile!" He knew well that excitement could lead to recklessness.
Chang Xin was fully aware of his nature; he had been an ordinary person in his previous life, and possessing a treasure like this fantastical garden wouldn't change his fundamental character.
In his first life, he had lived in a small rented apartment, working as a programmer in a modest company, blending in with the crowd. His life had been characterized by routine and monotony.
Though this fantastical garden could provide him with resources and support, he still needed time to uncover its potential and develop it.
He also understood the need for other resources of equal importance, such as techniques and practice methods.
He knew he didn't possess the strategic skills or combat experience to crush everything before him.
He hadn't possessed such talents in his previous life, nor did he expect to gain them suddenly in this new world.
Despite having a unique opportunity with this fantastical garden, he didn't deceive himself into thinking he would become like the heroes in novels, imagining all his future opponents and enemies to be foolish, and that beautiful fairies would throw themselves at him and become loyal to him after a series of absurd events.
Chang Xin always thought that the novels where heroes claimed they were the children of destiny in their worlds, talking about their ability to control their fate and face stronger enemies and win in the end despite the huge gap in power and background, were pure fantasy.
To him, those stories were ways to justify unrealistic events, and he knew that acting arrogantly and relying on luck or illogical assumptions in an unfamiliar world could lead to disastrous results.
Through reading many fantasy novels before his time travel, Chang Xin learned that consequences could be severe if he wasn't cautious in this world.
And although he possessed a fantastical garden where he could hide, the world was full of powers and dangers that could lead to his death in various ways.
After closing the data screen interface, Chang Xin looked around the house, recalling the information from his memory. Finally, he headed toward the closet.
When he touched the closet, there was no sound or response, so he decided to open it carefully.
Inside, he found three items: a cloth bag, a short staff with a head carved in the shape of an insect, and another with a head carved in the shape of a plant. Upon seeing these items, Chang Xin immediately recognized their functions.
First, he picked up the cloth bag, and a prompt instantly appeared: "Level 1 Spatial Bag, capable of storing items and keeping them in a fixed condition. Current capacity: 1000 square meters."
Chang Xin was momentarily stunned but felt joy nonetheless.
He took a deep breath to calm himself, then picked up the insect-shaped staff beside him, reading its description: "Pest Staff, Level 1, able to release crop-eating pests. Usable fifty times per day and can be taken out of the designated space for use."
Then he looked at the other staff and read, "Weed Staff, Level 1, capable of releasing weeds to compete with crops for nutrients. Usable fifty times per day and can be taken out of the space for use."
Chang Xin smiled and placed the staffs back, contemplating the usefulness of these tools that could be used to annoy or control crops.
After gathering the tools from the closet, Chang Xin took one last look around the house to make sure there was nothing important left to explore. He felt he had exhausted all available options inside, so he decided to step out of the straw hut.
As soon as he stepped out, an expansive area spread out before him, covering about ten acres, divided into carefully organized fields. The fields were neatly planted, with a collection of simple straw buildings beside them.
In addition, he noticed a set of agricultural tools neatly arranged.
In those fields, a new shovel was placed on the edge of one of them, and a bucket filled with water was next to a small well.
Next to the hut, he saw a warehouse and a stable, both constructed from the same natural materials.
Near the field, two bottles caught his attention: one labeled "Pesticide" and the other "Weed Remover." Beside them was a small basket labeled "Harvest." On the right side of the hut, two larger huts with signs reading "Warehouse" and "Stable" were visible.
A thick fog surrounded the area mysteriously, making it difficult to see details, except for the straw-roofed hut and the clear open space in the midst of the fog.
Chang Xin felt as if this new world ended at the edges of his farm, as he couldn't see beyond those misty borders.
He stroked his chin thoughtfully, realizing that this place resembled the space found in games he knew, but it wasn't exactly the same.
Instead, this fantastical garden was designed to better suit his current needs.
For now, the garden was only at Level 1, so many of its advanced functions couldn't be used yet. He hoped that upgrading the garden to higher levels would allow him to add new buildings and continuously expand his land as it was originally created.
In the garden's original upgrade design, players were supposed to gain experience by planting crops, watering them, and eliminating pests.
However, after the transformation he had undergone, Chang Xin wasn't sure if he could upgrade the garden in the same way.
"I can explore this issue later. For now, let's test the functionality of the agricultural field more deeply," Chang Xin thought, then decided to exit the space.
"Does the player want to log out?" came the usual cold voice in his mind, as at the start, accompanied by a prompt appearing before him.
