Chapter 5 - **CHAPTER 5: A STORY OF THE FOX Part 5

" The goddess looked puzzled and asked, "How do you owe her? When was that?"

He replied, "When that brat wanted to marry you, she knocked some sense into him." The goddess gave him a confused look, and he explained that the girl had urged him to question whether he truly wanted to be with her or not. She understood the whole situation, and he added, "What a good girl,"

The truth of the situation. What a good girl," he added, a mix of admiration and pity in his voice.

"Did those 299 women forgive him for his deeds?" God asked curiosity etched across his features. The goddess nodded slowly, her expression solemn. "Yes, but not for him—rather for a girl burdened by his misdeeds." Her gaze drifted to the past, and she continued with a heavy heart. "This girl is the most pitiful of all. Abandoned by her parents during her childhood, she lost her adopted grandfather, the only person who truly loved her. The one she cherished used her for someone else. In such dire circumstances, anyone could turn to darkness, but she remained pure until her last breath. Unknowingly, I became part of her suffering," she lamented, guilt gnawing at her conscience.

God replied, "We are trying to make it up to her now, to comfort her in her pain." Yet as she prepared for her next reincarnation, he sensed the weight of her sacrifice. "She is destined to be abandoned by her parents once more," he reflected with sorrow. "The one who granted her soul will hurt her deeply, breaking her spirit so completely that she will feel like nothing more than a lifeless doll."

"This is truly heartbreaking," he murmured, "Even for immortals. How can a mortal bear such torment?"

The goddess's eyes filled with determination as she turned to him. "Honey, let's intervene in her fate," she urged, her voice steady despite her anguish.

God shook his head firmly. "No."

With a tremor in her voice, she replied, "I could have prevented the misery of these 300 women with just the truth, but I chose silence. I thought that having one more admirer wouldn't hurt. I am responsible for this girl's endless suffering. Please, let me make amends." Tearfully, she sought solace in his embrace.

After a heavy pause, God sighed and reconsidered. "To make it right, we will help her reincarnate quickly to avert disaster." As the decision settled, he added, almost reluctantly, "As a consequence, we too shall reincarnate." His heart was a tumult of emotions, feeling both the weight of annoyance and the flicker of hope.
