Chapter 1 - 1. Accept The Mission

The world was destroyed.

People say I should be grateful because at least I'm still alive. But for what? Every morning is filled with insults and beatings.

"Lift the material properly, you weakling!" Gon's voice screeched in my ears, sadistically tearing away what was left of my pride.

All I could do was submit, biting down on my own anger. How could I be strong when the world treated weaklings like me like garbage?

"Hey... don't you have eyes? Why are you looking down? Pick up that monster material properly!"

Ah, damn. It's early in the morning and I've already been scolded more than ten times. "W-well," I said in a stuttering voice.

That squeaking voice haunted me every morning, making my world even smaller and more meaningless.

"Hahaha... take it easy, Gon. He's just a boy. He'll cry so loud if you scold him like that." Said Ren, a co-worker who was close to Gon.

"N-not nothing ..."

Damn, why do I sound so pathetic? No wonder they laughed at me. I looked down with an angry expression on my face, trying hard to swallow all the emotions that could make a mess.

"You idiot! You're making me look like a grump!"

Not only are you grumpy, you're crazy bastard. I said nothing as I heard them laughing at me and talking about various bad things about me in the background.

I dragged the sack of monster meat that had been cut into small pieces with great difficulty out of the dark dungeon and into one of the dungeons.

The dungeon I just entered was a level D dungeon. It contained several trolls as well as a rather skilled red-eyed hunting rat. The dungeon had just been conquered 1 hour ago. After making sure it was safe, dungeon hunters like me went in.

"Are you okay, Eron? Relax, I'm sure your strength will increase someday," said an old man near the truck as he lifted the sack I'd tied in one fell swoop. Fren. "See, you'll live as easy as I do, hahaha..."

"You're only 15 years old! You still have a lot of time."

I just remained silent. I tried hard to hold back my emotions that piled up every day. So what if I'm just a player H?! Don't they know the reason why I'm still an H?!

They're all assholes. Bastards who live like they are the rulers of the world when they are just workers like me. Just watch, when my strength increases later, I'll finish them all off. With an expressionless face, I stared at the screen of my system that was displayed in the air.

[God Group Board Opens (4/4)]

God of Envy burst out laughing, then frowned : "Look at this little boy, he always cursing and trying everyday, even though nothing has changed at all. It's so funny. Damn, I'm so jealous."

God of Sloth shook his head in surprise : "Yeah, it's like he doesn't realize how small he is. Just fighting for coins, he's already overwhelmed. As for me, I'd rather sleep."

God of Greed was surprised by the human's determination : "He thinks he can become a hero by killing one person. It's a waste of time. I'd rather watch other humans."

God of Mercy waved his hand, smiled, and gave me 1 coin : "He's pretty funny. I'll give him some encouragement. You'll definitely rise!"

God of Envy glared: "You are alone here. Why are you making so much noise and encouraging them? Damn it... you're making me jealous!"

God of Sloth yawned lazily.

God of Greed smiled dismissively. "A coin won't change anything for him. He's still stupid and weak! He'll never level up."

God of Mercy chuckled : "No one knows the time of his death. That's why we are here."

God of envy glared in annoyance : "Don't make me jealous by encouraging them. Just leave this group! I don't like you."

God of Mercy just waved his hand at me, not listening.

God of Envy felt angry and trying to kick out the God of Mercy

Their continued bickering caused me to immediately close the comment section of the group so that it would no longer be noisy.

I sat down under the roots of a large tree and wiped away my sweat. I wanted to use this short break to sleep, but not long after, Fren caught up with me. He sat down next to me and forced me to wake up from my short nap.

"Hey Eron, here's your lunch. " He handed me a package of bread, some water, and a level E restorative potion. "We're moving to the west dungeon near Hotel C. Want to come? The pay is $100 an hour. Not bad, right?" said Fren, the old man who carried my luggage earlier.

"Thank you," I replied briefly. I still felt strange with his every gesture of treating me like his son. His kind gesture even made me wary, for there was no such thing as pure kindness in this era of world destruction.

"Hah, you really are a cold kid. Do you still not like to make friends? Even though the world has changed since the monster attack ten years ago, you should make friends with others. You can't live alone," He said as he took a bite of bread. "We are still social creatures who depend on each other."

I laughed silently and didn't say anything, not wanting to offend him. Perhaps the old man's conservative thinking was because he had never experienced the cruel betrayal of his fellow man. Remembering things from the past made me even more angry and disapproved of his thoughts of depending on or trusting others with my life.

Depend on each other? No, I don't. In this day and age, people are no longer weak and needy social creatures. They have become like animals, showing off their strength and limiting their territory. They enslave other humans under the pretext of protecting them and then trample on them at will.

I don't trust humans. I looked up at the reddish sky and saw the dungeon getting smaller and smaller after the conquest a day ago. People were rushing to clean the dungeon as fast as they could.

Dungeons, mysterious caves filled with creatures and gifts, began appearing ten years ago. The first dungeons appeared in Australia, then spread across the world. Most of the human population was wiped out by monsters that killed blindly. They were mindless, merciless, and bloodthirsty.

Then the Player appeared - people with supernatural powers who had no idea where they came from. The Player has a level system like in the game.

It took a long time to adjust to the big change. The world was in complete chaos, drowning in darkness, busy running from monsters.

Two years after the destruction of the world, Kairo appeared - the first human with an SSS level, who created new rules and shaped the current world.

He became a respected and feared president because he successfully controlled the powerful players. But of course, that only applies to high-level players. H-level players like me, whose strength is almost equal to that of ordinary people, are ignored.

We, the low-level players, make our living by transporting hunted monsters or working like ordinary people. It was very sad.

"Hey, Fren. Why are you talking to her? You're going to stutter. Be careful, hahaha..."

"Right, right, that guy seems to be not only mute, but he will be deaf soon. Stop wasting your time on people like that!"

The two men burst out laughing as they found their remarks very funny. They are Gon and Ren.

Fren glared angrily. "You impertinent brat!" He stood up and prepared to pick up a large wooden beam. "I'm going to teach you a lesson today!"

I held Fren's hand and shook my head. I forbade her to hit him, even though I really wanted to.

"They made fun of you too often. I can't take it anymore!" He said angrily.

"I-I'm fine..."

"No! I won't listen to you this time. You've gone too far!" he said, still wanting to beat her up.

I shook my head again. I was embarrassed to speak. Fren sat down again, scowling and cursing silently. I just stayed silent and watched the two guys laughing at me and sharing their mockery with people.

Four o'clock in the afternoon. A good time to get home from work. I hurried to clean up and get ready to go home. I stood up and finished locking my locker when suddenly, Gon appeared.

"Look around, you crazy kid!"

I stared at him in silence didn't talk back and i really dont care about him. I just focus on my self. The work time is over so i shouldn't be afraid of him.

Bug!

"You bastard! You pissed me off." Gon threw me into my locker and kicked me a few times. "Shit! Damn kid!"

I curled up and shielded my face as much as possible from the D-player's kicks with my hands. Although it was probably useless because my body still felt a lot of pain.

"Hey, Gon! What are you doing?!" Ren appeared from behind the door. "Why are you so upset to see him?"

"I just don't like seeing that fucking kid around. He reminds me of my asshole brother! Shit!" He kicked me again with his powerful foot.

I whimpered silently. It hurt. But there wasn't much I could do for now. I can't derail the plan I've been planning for a month. The revenge plan I've been looking forward to for a long time, because this is the highlight.

"Never mind, just forget about that boy. We have to act quickly. They've already called us," Ren continued.

Gon snorted. "Sucks!" he said before he kicked me one last time. He left the changing room with Ren.

Ding!

The message reappeared. The annoying message that had been making me cringe for the past half year. But fuck it! I've had enough of this. I'll do it, I'll accept this mission.

[Do you accept this mission?]

-Yes

-No

I pressed the Yes button with a flat face. The sound of shouting could be heard loudly from outside the room. I smiled a little when I realized what had happened.

My plan worked.
