Chapter 22 - Path of Advancement

Lin Tian's journey in cultivation was always marked by intense focus and relentless pursuit. After securing the mysterious medallion and gathering valuable information about higher realms, he decided to spend a few days practicing, carefully consolidating his new strength. He exchanged all the loot and spirit stones he had collected from the bandit camp, gaining a decent amount of spirit stones. With his spoils converted, he found himself once again at the Myriad Pavilion, this time with a clear purpose in mind.

As he entered, he was greeted with the familiar sight of the grand hall, bustling with warriors, merchants, and servants, all moving with purpose. Lin Tian walked up to the counter, where the attendant instantly recognized him and offered a polite bow.

"How may I assist you today, sir?" the attendant asked.

"I wish to purchase a Qi Condensation Pill, the level 2 variant," Lin Tian replied, his tone calm but focused.

The attendant raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed. "The Qi Condensation Pill of that grade is quite costly, sir. It will be 80,000 low-grade spirit stones."

Lin Tian nodded, already prepared for the price. "I'll take it."

After exchanging the spirit stones, Lin Tian held the Qi Condensation Pill in his hands, admiring its faint glow. This pill would accelerate his progress toward the Qi Refining Realm, but he knew he had nearly depleted his resources. With his remaining spirit stones dwindling, he decided to settle down and focus on his cultivation in the city.

For the next week, Lin Tian practiced tirelessly, cultivating in isolation, his mind entirely focused on breaking through. Finally, when he felt the time was right, he swallowed the Qi Condensation Pill and allowed its potent energy to surge through his meridians. The pill's Qi was warm and expansive, filling his Dantian like a river flowing into a basin. As the energy circulated, he sensed his body nearing a threshold.

Hours passed as he guided the Qi within him, refining and concentrating it, strengthening his foundation. Then, with a sudden burst, Lin Tian felt a powerful breakthrough, and he entered the Qi Refining Realm. His aura expanded as he adjusted to the newfound strength, feeling the subtle yet profound difference.

Just as he stabilized his cultivation, Lin Tian decided to head out and immerse himself in the city's life. He needed to know more about the clans here, especially since his involvement with the bandits could have unintended consequences. As he strolled through the bustling market streets, he caught sight of a young man surrounded by a few followers. The young man's posture was heroic, with a confident smile and a natural charisma that made people turn their heads.

Noticing Lin Tian's gaze, the young man nodded and approached him. "Are you new to the city?" he asked with a friendly smile.

Lin Tian returned the nod. "Yes, I am. And you are?"

"Ah, forgive my lack of introduction. I'm Feng Yuan," the young man said, extending his hand. "I'm from the Feng Clan here in the city. You must be quite capable to be at Qi Refining already."

Lin Tian accepted the handshake, finding Feng Yuan's straightforward nature refreshing. "Lin Tian. I've recently made a breakthrough, actually. It's been a lot of work."

Feng Yuan chuckled, clapping him on the shoulder. "I understand that well. You have the look of someone who's been through a lot." He paused, looking thoughtful. "Since you're new here, why don't you join me for a visit to Fragrance Pavilion? It's one of the city's more... refined places."

Lin Tian raised an eyebrow, curious. "Fragrance Pavilion? Is it a restaurant or...?"

"Not just a restaurant. It's famous for its teas and the special spirit delicacies they serve. It's a favorite among the young masters here," Feng Yuan replied, grinning.

Intrigued, Lin Tian accepted the invitation. Together, they walked through the busy streets, Feng Yuan pointing out various landmarks and recounting bits of the city's history along the way. Lin Tian listened intently, appreciating the insights.

Soon, they arrived at a lavish building adorned with intricate carvings and the scent of exotic spices in the air. Inside, the Fragrance Pavilion was even more exquisite, with gentle music playing in the background and servers dressed in elegant attire. The atmosphere was serene, with hints of mystery woven into every corner.

As they settled into a comfortable booth, Feng Yuan ordered a specialty tea and a few dishes. "So, Lin Tian, what brings you to our city?"

Lin Tian considered his words carefully. "Just exploring, hoping to find opportunities for growth. The world is vast, and there's always something new to learn."

Feng Yuan nodded, his expression turning serious. "That's true. Many come to this city seeking power or knowledge, but it's not always easy. The clans here are quite competitive. Even my own Feng Clan is no exception."

Lin Tian noticed a slight tension in Feng Yuan's words. "Sounds like there's some rivalry?"

Feng Yuan shrugged. "Rivalry, conflict, competition...it's all part of life here. Sometimes it's friendly, and sometimes it's...less so. But enough of that!" His face brightened as the server arrived with their tea and dishes.

They ate in companionable silence for a few moments, enjoying the rich flavors. Lin Tian felt a slight surge of Qi with each bite, clearly enhanced by the spirit ingredients.

Feng Yuan raised his cup in a toast. "To new friendships and stronger cultivation!"

Lin Tian clinked his cup with Feng Yuan's, feeling a rare moment of relaxation and camaraderie. However, his thoughts drifted to the medallion he had recently acquired. He wondered if he could trust Feng Yuan enough to seek his advice on it, or if he should keep it a secret.

Breaking his thoughts, Feng Yuan leaned in. "If you ever need guidance on the city's dynamics or just some friendly advice, let me know," he said sincerely.

"Thank you, Feng Yuan. I'll keep that in mind," Lin Tian replied, giving him a grateful nod.

After a few more hours of pleasant conversation and exchanging stories, Lin Tian and Feng Yuan parted ways. As he walked back through the city streets, Lin Tian's mind raced with new plans and ideas. He'd gained valuable knowledge about the city and its clans, and he now had a reliable ally in Feng Yuan. The city held many mysteries and challenges, but he felt more prepared than ever.
