Chapter 7 - Getting Back to the Clan

Lin Tian glanced at Zhou Yin, his expression softened with gratitude. "Thank you for your company, Zhou Yin. It's rare to have someone to rely on out here," he said earnestly. The journey had been challenging, filled with dangers and unforeseen twists, yet he had gained more than just physical strength.

Zhou Yin gave a small nod, her expression calm though a hint of reluctance flickered in her eyes. Despite her composed demeanor, she found herself hesitating. She'd grown accustomed to Lin Tian's presence and, deep down, admired his tenacity and strength. However, pride wouldn't let her show it. "It's been… interesting, traveling together," she replied with a small smile, her tone casual yet sincere.

They exchanged a final look before parting ways. Lin Tian could sense her unspoken feelings, a warmth hidden beneath her composed exterior. With a respectful nod, he turned and set off, his steps firm yet tinged with a hint of nostalgia for the unexpected bond they had formed.

After a day's travel, Lin Tian arrived home, the familiar landscape stirring a feeling of accomplishment. During his time away, he had not only gathered rare resources but also grown in strength. His battles and the close brushes with death had refined his mind and spirit, and now, as he paused to focus inward, he realized he'd reached the sixth level of Body Refining.

The battles, the dangers, and the companionship had granted him not only valuable experience but also invaluable insights into his techniques and abilities. He felt an inner shift, his body brimming with a newfound power, each movement carrying the weight of his advancement.

As Lin Tian stepped into his father's study, he could feel the steady aura of his father, Lin Wei, resonating within the room. The study was filled with rows of ancient texts, each containing powerful techniques and the wisdom of countless cultivators. At the center, Lin Wei sat behind a wooden desk, his eyes trained on his son the moment he entered.

Lin Wei's gaze was calm but piercing, as though he could see right through Lin Tian. "You've improved," Lin Wei noted, his tone filled with a trace of pride. "You've broken through to Level 6 of Body Refining."

Lin Tian nodded, hiding a smile. His father, at the mid-Spirit Condensation Realm, could indeed sense these things at a glance. "I was fortunate," he replied humbly. "The forest provided me with plenty of chances to hone my skills."

Lin Wei raised a brow, studying his son with deeper interest. "There will be more chances to grow your skills, but under far more favorable conditions than those dangerous forests. In fact, I've summoned you here because of a rare opportunity. Three first-rate forces will soon be holding their disciple acceptance ceremonies," he said, his voice steady yet infused with a sense of importance.

Lin Tian's eyes sparkled with curiosity. First-rate forces were rare, prestigious sects with resources and experts who could elevate a disciple's cultivation to new heights. "Which ones, Father?"

Lin Wei leaned back, folding his hands thoughtfully. "The Heavenly Radiance Sect, the Azure Sky Sect, and the Celestial Blade Pavilion."

Lin Tian's expression grew more focused as he absorbed the information. Each of these sects had an established reputation, producing cultivators whose skills far exceeded those of ordinary warriors.

Lin Wei continued, "The Heavenly Radiance Sect is known for its remarkable cultivation techniques and the wisdom of elders who have reached the Transformation Realm. Those accepted into the sect can train under elders with the rare Heavenly Radiance Sword Art, a technique revered throughout the region. But only those with an affinity for cultivation and swordsmanship make it through their tests."

Lin Tian nodded, already feeling the weight of the decision he might have to make. "The Azure Sky Sect?"

"Azure Sky is famed for its mastery of elemental techniques, especially in fire and wind. They have methods for nurturing talented disciples in these areas, providing elemental-based techniques that can bring devastating power to those who master them," Lin Wei explained, his voice carrying a hint of respect for the sect's specialized training. "This sect would be a good match for anyone inclined toward elemental mastery and offensive techniques."

Lin Tian pondered. He had always been interested in elemental techniques and how they integrated with martial arts. The Azure Sky Sect's offerings sounded tempting.

"And the Celestial Blade Pavilion," Lin Wei said, pausing slightly as if to measure his words. "They emphasize weapon mastery. Unlike the other two sects, who might balance weapon arts with spiritual techniques, the Celestial Blade Pavilion dedicates itself solely to cultivating supreme weapon users. Their disciples are known for wielding blade techniques that resonate with profound energy, techniques that can cleave through even the toughest defenses."

Lin Tian felt a shiver of excitement. Each sect had its allure, yet they all possessed Transformation Realm experts who could impart rare insights to disciples, guiding them toward incredible heights.

"But," Lin Wei's gaze became more serious, "you must meet the eligibility criteria. They only accept those under nineteen years old, with a cultivation level of Body Refining Level 5 or higher. You meet the requirements, but you'll still have to prove yourself."

Lin Tian exhaled, his resolve hardening. "Father, do you think I'd stand a chance?"

Lin Wei nodded, a glimmer of pride in his eyes. "You have potential, Lin Tian. But potential alone is not enough. Each of these sects will put you through rigorous tests, and only those who demonstrate true aptitude, resilience, and adaptability will make it through."

As Lin Wei's words sank in, Lin Tian realized that this opportunity was indeed a rare one, a chance to shape his path under the guidance of legendary sects that could provide knowledge far beyond what he had access to in his clan.

"Additionally," Lin Wei added, "it would be wise to think about which of these paths aligns most closely with your strengths and goals. You have always been talented with the sword and have shown promise in refining your body. But cultivation is a lifelong journey. Aligning with the right mentors can make the difference between mediocrity and greatness."

Lin Tian listened intently, weighing his options. "Father," he began, "I'm drawn to the idea of mastering elemental techniques or perhaps focusing entirely on the sword. I still have a lot to consider, but… I want to be prepared."

Lin Wei stood, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. "Preparation is precisely why I'm telling you this now. You have some time before the ceremonies begin, so continue cultivating diligently. Strengthen yourself as much as you can because every advantage matters."

"Understood, Father," Lin Tian replied, determination blazing in his eyes.

After a pause, Lin Wei spoke again, his voice tinged with caution. "One last thing. These sects have always drawn talented individuals from many clans, but also rivals. When you go to the ceremonies, keep your wits about you and avoid unnecessary conflicts. Strength alone is not always the best weapon; sometimes, restraint and strategy are what keep you alive."

Lin Tian nodded, understanding the implications behind his father's words. Cultivators from rival clans would likely attend as well, meaning old rivalries could rekindle in the competitive environment.

Lin Wei let out a small sigh, his voice softening. "I am proud of you, Lin Tian. You've grown into a promising young man, and I know that whatever path you choose, you will make us proud."

Lin Tian felt a rare warmth spread through him at his father's words. He bowed respectfully, his gratitude evident. "Thank you, Father. I won't let you down."

After a brief moment of silence, Lin Tian rose, his mind buzzing with a newfound sense of purpose. The prospect of joining a first-rate force stirred something in him, a vision of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the most formidable cultivators in the region, perhaps even beyond.

"Tomorrow, I'll continue my training in preparation for the Disciple ceremony," Lin Tian said, his tone filled with resolve.

Lin Wei gave a slight nod of approval. "That is the right attitude. Remember, every challenge you face from now on is an opportunity to hone your skills. Approach each one with caution, but also with confidence."

With one final bow, Lin Tian turned to leave, the weight of his father's words echoing in his mind. His journey was just beginning, and now, with a clear path ahead, he felt ready to pursue the kind of greatness he had long aspired to.
