It was a Sunday afternoon, the warm rays of the sun filtering into the windows illuminated the entire room. Avery sat on the chair panting after doing the last thing on her to-do list which was disposing the trash. She ticked it off with her ball point pen.
As she sat recovering from a day of tedious work, she heard a loud knock on the door and the person without waiting for a reply ,turned the doorknob, swung it open and bathed into the house.
Tania skipped all the way to Avery's living room and they bumped into each other . "Ouch!"Avery exclaimed, "Tania watch where you're going" she mumbles rubbing her forehead. That did not detr her friend's happiness as Tania shook her vigorously, "so what are we doing today?".
Avery stared at her incredulously, "have you finally lost it?" She replied with a question. '"No!"Tania gaped, "maybe" she shrugged in a small voice.
"But you should be glad I came to see you. So we can hang out this Sunday together and relax before another week filled with work."she explained as she twirled herself to a chair in the sitting room and settled on it, before continuing in a low voice, "you know how it is on the set"
Avery following behind her, "so what's the reason behind your bubbly nature this morning?" She asked eyeing her suspiciously.
"Darling,it's afternoon already, what's the suspicious glare for?" Tania defended.
"Wait ,it's afternoon already?" Avery squeaked as she scrambled for her phone to check the time.
" What's wrong with that one?", Tania muttered to herself as she ushered herself into the kitchen. "Have you eaten anything, Avery?" She rummaged through her fridge and then went over to the cupboard. Avery was still powering on her phone as she placed back and forth in the sitting room. "No, not yet" Avery answered.
"Okay, I'll whip up some pancakes for us. How's that?" Tania suggested and without waiting for her reply went on to do the pancakes coupled with scrambled eggs. She put them in two plates and took out an orange juice carton form the fridge and poured it into two cups.
As she took up a piece of scrambled egg with her fork bringing it to her mouth, Avery's scream reverberated through the apartment causing her to flinch and throw the eggs.
"You have finally lost it" Tania berated her as she disposed off the piece of scrambled egg that fell down.
"Avery have you forgotten that you are not the only one who lives in this building?" A man shrieked from the balcony of the room above hers. He was in his late 60s, he flailed his walking stick in the air as he shouted .
"Sorry ,Mr Mulroney" Avery screamed back.
" Ah, you g children nowadays" he sighed as he went back into his room.
"That oughta serve you right," Tania snickered. "It's 2:30pm" Avery said to Tania. "So?" Tania raised a brow at her friend as she put a slice of pancake into her mouth. Avery stared at her with a ridiculous expression, "and you're still eating?" Avery questioned back. Tania shrugged, before she knew it Avery was by her side at the kitchen island dragging her out of the house not before snatching her hand bag from the table. " Avery, my pancakes . We didn't even get to cover it" Tania mourned the loss of her pancakes as she was being pulled away by her friend.
Avery flagged a taxi down. "Please take us down the next five streets' Avery hurriedly said as they scrambled into the taxi.
Soon they arrived and they alighted the taxi as Avery paid the driver his fare. They turned to face the building behind them. It wasn't anything conspicuous but Avery knew the worth of hwy was sold in there. "What are we doing here again?" Tania grumbled still not over the loss of her lunch.
"To get an Encase, a wiebetech, hardware and solid state drive analyzer" Avery listed them out without batting an eyelid at Tania.
"Say what!" Tania stared at her incredulously.
