Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

Jayden glanced at his gold Rolex wristwatch for the nth time since he stepped his foot into the fine establishment. He sighed heavily, frustration rolling off in waves from him. He shifted on the comfy cushion that donned the seat exuding a sign of restlessness.

A waiter wakes up to him donned in a pale gold long-sleeved shirt and black trousers over black shoes, with a gold crest pin-up on the left breast pocket depicting the signature symbol of their restaurant, which was a tea cup with wisps of vapor above it .

He gave a slight bow to Jayden and putting on a professional smile ,greeted him "good afternoon sir. Welcome to Gems and paradise restaurant", he materialized a small black notebook from god-knows-where ,and uncorking his pen in a smooth fluid manner , a gesture deeply ingrained in him, he proceeded to write his order, "may I have your order".

" No need, I am actually waiting for someone. Should be here any minute" he politely rejected,no expression on his stoic face as he cast a glance at huge double glass doors at the entrance.

"Okay then" the blond haired waiter sighed, a tinge of disappointment evident in his voice, "but will you like any desserts first before the person arrives?", he tried again.

"Ermmm", Jayden seemed to think about it, "sure anything" he gave in.

"I will be sure to bring our specialty cafe lattè" the waiter beamed a smile at him, before corking his pen and tucking his small notebook into his back pocket where he obviously got it from, as he left to get the drink.

Gems and Paradise restaurant was the largest building on the Street, with chains of restaurants in other parts of England and the world. It mostly housed the elite class. It was famous for its special coffee and cake recipes that leave a wonderful taste on the buds of their clients, causing them to come back for more.

It had three large floors, each floor had booths at its end for clients that wanted privacy, that was one the places that Jayden had settled into waiting for his partner.

The aroma of the food permeating the air from the kitchen, a testament to the expertise of the chefs, mingled with the scent of the tulips gave a homely feel to the restaurant. It's see-through floor to ceiling windows that give an appealing view to the flower garden and cherry blossom trees outside. The petals falling repeatedly from the tree ,creating a pool of pink at the foot of the tree, the sun rays passing the leaves at the top of the trees, through the windows causing very faint illusions of rainbows in circles added to the magical atmosphere in the place. A very relaxing spot indeed.

The waiter came back with the cup of coffee and some chocolate biscuits and placed them on the table. "Thank you", Jayden murmured as the waiter bowed slightly before turning on his heels.

Jayden was left again to continue the loop of checking his watch , sipping his coffee and looking around. A light cough from behind broke him out from his reverie , accompanied by the click-clack of a six inch stiletto, followed by a creamy pants suit before the face of a beautiful woman came into his peripheral view.

Her auburn hair rolled down her shoulders in waves ,held loosely by a fancy hair band. A few strands framing her oval face, adorned by deep brown irises, a cute nose and plump lips that stretched out into a smile.

"Have you been waiting long?" she asked as she snatched a chocolate biscuit from his plate and munched on it, despite knowing the answer to that question.

He feigned annoyance at her lackadaisical attitude, he did not reply and chose to continue sipping his tea.

When she attempted to steal another biscuit, he beat her to it and slapped her hands away lightly. She withdrew it and cradled it as though it was scalded by hot water.

"Ouch", she pouted, "I'm sorry okay" she stretched out her hands to touch his arms rubbing smooth circles on his biceps hidden under the black suit he wore, in an attempt to quell his faux anger.

"I was so caught up with the new designs for the new dresses with my new fashion designer and lost track of time. She explained, her lips forming a pout ,her face looking every inch like a pampered cat that had been wronged by its master.

One look at that face thawed the icy expression on his face, as he couldn't bear to be the reason behind the sulky expression on his childhood sweetheart's face.

"No need to be sad, I'm not angry anymore", Jayden managed a small smile , he was definitely terrible at comforting people ,he avoided meeting her eyes.

"Really?" ,the twenty five year old lady was back to her bubbly nature, "yes" Jayden tried to match her enthusiasm but failed to broach the bridge.

"Aah", she poked his arm with her newly manicured nails, "if you're not angry with me anymore, you have to prove it unless I won't forgive myself" she stated.

"How?", Jayden quirked his brow as he downed the remaining contents of his coffee.

"You refused to look me in the eye, that means you are still mad at me" she pointed out.

"Alright Chloe", he raised his hands in mock surrender "I'm looking at you now ,are you happy?"

She giggled, "that's the spirit" she picked up the menu, flipping through it,she asked "have you decided what you want to order?"

"No not yet, I was waiting for you" he replied honestly as his eyes skimmed the menu.

Chloe's heart warmed at that reply, "aww that's so sweet. Here let's order no. 19 and 20" she pointed at the dishes on the menu to which Jayden nodded and beckoned the blind haired waiter to come over.

He approached them and took their orders. After a few minutes , he returned with their dishes which after setting them down, wished them a hearty meal and sauntered off to attend to other customers.

They picked their cutleries and started digging into their foods in an elegant manner befitting of people of their class. When Chloe was sure not one was looking at them ,she trailed her left foot up Jayden's legs in a sensual manner, eliciting a pause from him. He looked up abruptly at her, but Chloe feigned innocence as she kept eating her food and savoring the taste with an exaggerated expression.

"It's so good,Jay you should try this braised pork meat" she said as she lifted the meat in his direction.

He opened his mouth, and she shoved it into his mouth. "Thank you?" He said as he chewed on the meat , dismissing the earlier encounter as his brain messing with him.

He proceeded to continue eating his own food ,Chloe continued her shenanigans and trailed her legs higher up his legs , causing him to choke.

Chloe immediately handed the glass of water to him, which he downed hastily.

"Chloe"he gritted through clenched teeth, Chloe replied with a mischievous grin, "yes" she drawled.

"I'm so done with you" ,he said as he tried to hide a small smile.

"Please don't be mad. You are going to Los Angeles tomorrow, right?" She asked the question that has been spinning on her mind since he told her last week.

"So that was what this whole drama was about ?" , he raised a brow at her antics.

"Nooo"she drew," well not really. The drama was so you could loosen up a bit , you have been stiff for a while now. So you won't go home and Mrs Coleman would say I have been taking care of you well ,and call off our engagement" Chloe smiled at him.

He shook his head, "it's not you and you know Mom loves you a lot, so that's not even possible. It's just that I need to go and set things right in my headquarters. A lot has been going on down there , I need to dig up the dirty deeds of those I left my companies in their hands." he massaged his temples as he explained.

"Oh" Chloe took his hands in her small ones and squeezed them gently. "Well ,go ahead then , I will be coming back soon , so we can finalize the agreement for the collaboration of our companies," she said.

"Sure, I will also draft the form and we will commence the promotion," Jayden replied. He placed a fleeting kiss on the back of her hands ,after which he rubbed circles on it with his thumb. The temperature of Chloe's face flared up , causing to look like a tomato and it didn't go down for a while even as they continued with their eating.
