Warlock Ch 279. Assassination
With a precise slash, she severed the assassin's arm at the elbow before pivoting on her heel and driving her foot into his chest. The force sent him crashing into the nearby wall, where he slumped unconscious, the wound sizzling from the residual magic.
"That's three down," she breathed.
"Yeah, but the last one's being annoying," Damian muttered, eyeing the mage who was still focusing on his formation.
Selena frowned. "He's trying to buy time."
"To do what?"
As if in answer, a sudden pulse of mana erupted from the formation. The air grew heavy, thick with something old, something powerful. Damian's eyes narrowed. "Oh. That."
A summoning.
The assassin wasn't trying to win the fight.
He was calling for backup.
"Well, that's irritating," Damian muttered.
Selena tensed. "Can you stop it?"
Damian hummed in thought. "I could, but where's the fun in that?"
