Chapter 38 - Black Lightning

OC detected a sudden surge in Asic's parameters:

[Alert: Master's Asra power has increased by 100%. Physical strength up by 50%. Lightning element efficiency up by 200%. Heart rate elevated by 36%. Cognitive processing up by 20%. Reflexes and sensory response heightened by 120%. Bloodlust increased by 100%. Would you like to suppress this state?]

"No need," Asic muttered, stepping forward. With a single swing of his katana, charged with condensed purple lightning and vibrations, he cleaved through a ten-centimeter-thick steel door as if slicing a cake. His figure, cloaked in black, walked through the severed entrance to find himself face-to-face with armed security robots and drones, all weapons trained on him.

[You are in a restricted area. Unauthorized access detected. Property damage recorded. Initiating suppression...] A robotic voice declared, scanning Asic with its sensors. Moments later, commands from the factory's central computer altered its directives.

[Recalculating... Threat level of intruder deemed extreme. Switching from suppression to termination protocol.]

Gunfire erupted as over a hundred machine guns unloaded on Asic simultaneously. The hailstorm of bullets transformed into slow-moving images in Asic's perception as he activated the time compression technique.

*Timefold Technique: Two Seconds*

Asic unleashed a massive burst of Asra power, pushing his cognitive and physical limits. Black lightning surged around him, the roar of a dragon resonating from beneath his black coat. The shadow of a black dragon unfurled its wings and soared.

*Blue Dragon School Technique: Woojin Template—Sky Dragon's Wings*

Infused with Blue Dragon Qi and black lightning, Asic's blade sliced through the air. Each swing unleashed a wave of energy that destroyed swarms of drones mid-flight, sending them plummeting like shot-down birds. The high-end security robots, resistant to electricity at 97.8%, couldn't withstand the precision-controlled lightning. Their signal receivers short-circuited, forcing them to switch to on-board processors, reducing their ability to coordinate.

Asic launched a grappling cable from his wrist, its high-powered magnet latching onto one of the robots. The retraction mechanism yanked him towards the heavy robot, but he severed the connection mid-pull. Mid-air, he swung his katana, slicing cleanly through the robot's circuits. The blade, capable of cutting through steel doors like paper, made short work of these machines.

Moving with unnatural speed, Asic weaved between the robots, his strikes precise and devastating. Without the factory's central computer to relay shared data, the robots struggled to keep up with his movements. Asic's katana dismantled them piece by piece while their bullets either missed or were deflected with ease. His heightened reflexes allowed him to dodge effortlessly, even without fully overclocking.

Within minutes, the expensive security robots lay scattered in pieces, and the once-pristine factory floor was littered with debris. The specialized guards, armed with military-grade weapons, hesitated. Their training hadn't prepared them for an opponent like this—a demon in human form who could avoid over a thousand bullets and dismantle the latest robotic defenses like a seasoned samurai cutting through bamboo.

"Don't get in my way. You're just wasting time," Asic said coldly, his voice devoid of warmth. The black Asra aura around him exuded the presence of a reaper, his high-frequency katana humming ominously as if growling with anticipation.

The guards, though terrified, raised their weapons. Their job was to protect the factory and eliminate intruders. Despite their fear, retreat wasn't an option. Communicating silently through their tactical network, they prepared to surround and eliminate Asic.

"I'll warn you one last time. Surrender now, for your own sake. I can't guarantee what I'll do next if you push me." Asic's voice carried the weight of restrained fury. The katana in his hand, pulsating with power, mirrored his barely-contained bloodlust.

The first sniper bullet rang out, but Asic vanished in a flash of black lightning, timefolding again. Grappling cables shot out in three directions, pulling him into the air. With a twist, he descended on the guards, katana slashing with brutal precision. Blood sprayed as limbs and weapons were severed, yet his strikes avoided major arteries, leaving his victims incapacitated but alive.

"Legis..." Agaret muttered, watching from a control room. The movement patterns, the grappling cable technique—this was reminiscent of Legis, someone he had encountered before. Memories of the man who had mastered this method of movement resurfaced. "Damn mutt. He's related to Legis after all."

Asic's mastery of the grappling technique was the result of OC's adaptation. By analyzing his memories of Legis and integrating data from extreme sports, OC created the program *Three-Dimensional Grappling Mobility* for Asic to use.

With this technique, Asic moved unpredictably, much like Avid's Soaring Hopper. The guards couldn't keep track of him. By the time their guns were aimed, Asic had already changed positions, cutting them down before they could react.

"He's brutal..." Susinna murmured, her jaw dropping as she watched the carnage from a distance.

"This isn't what you described, Ivy! You said he was gentle—he used rubber bullets and didn't kill anyone on that train!"

"He's harsher now, but he hasn't lost his compassion," Ivy replied, her eyes fixed on Asic.

"Compassion? Turning a factory into a bloodbath counts as compassion?"

"If it were me, Susinna, I'd aim for their necks. Asic spares lives. He may be aggressive, but he's still in control." Ivy's expression turned somber. She was deep in thought, observing the shift in Asic's power.

'His strength and speed have nearly doubled. He's adapted techniques from Woojin, Oliver Chang, and even me with 99% accuracy. The Overclock Miner's power is unbelievable—surpassing even superchips implanted in the brain,' Ivy thought. Superchips, developed in 2075, allowed human brains to function like advanced computers. But they had vulnerabilities to electromagnetic interference. Asic's OC lacked such weaknesses, making him far superior.

'You're someone destined to conquer the New World, Asic,' Ivy thought, her expectations for him growing even higher.

Asic walked deeper into the factory, the industrial machinery silent in the night. The absence of workers and guards created an eerie stillness. As he navigated the labyrinthine corridors, a figure descended from a metal staircase on the second floor.

It was Agaret Marr, his bowl-cut hair almost comical, but the predatory aura he emitted was anything but funny. His presence was that of a dangerous beast.

"Looking for me, mutt?" Agaret said, stepping down deliberately. Asic stood still, locking eyes with the man responsible for Ejin's abduction, someone connected to his brother, one way or another.

"I'm here to take someone home. Surrender the kid now, and we can talk. But if I draw my sword, it'll be too late for negotiations," Asic warned, pointing his glowing purple katana at Agaret. Black lightning cracked around the blade as it growled with power, foreshadowing the storm that awaited those who dared defy him.
