Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Small achievements

____After that night, Phantom is in a more tense situation with Dahad and his gang. Originally, many orphans who were delinquents often found opportunities to bully Phantom. Now that Phantom is given the chance to attend St. Maria's School, they don't get along like oil and water.

____Although most children dare not hurt Phantom like before because Phantom is always being watched by the priests in the church these days, if Phantom is found to be bullied and hurt again, the naughty children may be punished or expelled from the church.

____But it wasn't like the orphans were willing to break up with Phantom . Dahad and his gang of delinquents still found opportunities to steal Phantom's food or to look down on him whenever the priests weren't around. The disagreements between Phantom and the other orphans made the orphans' living together seem gloomy and dangerous at all times.

____Although Dahad still dared not to openly attack Phantom like before, Phantom did not take it lightly. He knew that this should be the calm before the storm. Therefore, if possible, Phantom would try to place himself in a place where the priests were at all times.

____The priests and sisters seemed to know this, and they began to show more importance to Phantom, even allowing him to stay close to them to watch the magic being used while the priests worked, which was more beneficial to Phantom than anyone could have imagined.

____After several nights, Phantom secretly returned to the library. He brought back books to read and practiced more basic magic. However, since Phantom had already received a painful lesson from his first experiment with earth element magic, he had learned to be even more careful when using magic.

____The dark night and the quiet of the library provided an excellent environment for studying. Phantom felt that night allowed him to think extraordinarily well. First , Phantom thought about the phenomena from his experiments with earth element magic, and what had happened when he had rushed back to the orphanage dormitory in a panic.

____The first was using earth magic. Although Phantom had used all his mana to experiment with earth magic, he thought that it shouldn't have such a large and widespread impact. This was something he didn't understand. Judging by the results recorded in the earth magic book, the effect of that magic shouldn't be more than causing the dust in the library to fly. This puzzled Phantom, but after he thought about it for a while, he came up with a hypothesis.

____At that time, Phantom imagined the entire universe. He used his basic knowledge of science to experiment with the earth element spell for the first time. If this was really something that could make a difference, then the power of imagination combined with science could shake the entire universe. Just thinking about it scared Phantom. Phantom was no longer sure what his magic could do in the future. But even so, it didn't stop Phantom from giving up.

____It is said that people who have been bitten by snakes will be afraid of ropes afterwards. Phantom himself is no different. The experience of experimenting with earth element magic still haunts him.

____This time, Phantom limited his imagination to a narrow space , two palms. Phantom raised both of his small hands to his chest, as if he was holding an invisible ball in mid-air. Phantom imagined that the air spaces inside his hands were once again filled with tiny particles and molecules, and within those molecules were tiny water droplets. The particles of wind and electricity had induced and held them, keeping them floating in mid-air gently. Some of those enormous water droplets became positively charged, some became negatively charged, and they were all attracted to each other.

____"Aquim," Phantom uttered a water-elemental spell.

____Suddenly, a blue water ball suddenly glowed brightly in front of Phantom . The water ball was as small as a golf ball, but it was glowing blue. Its shimmering light illuminated Phantom's small body, making it stand out in the dark and desolate library. It was as if the young man had a special blue aura that could dispel the darkness.

____"I did it ! " This was another time when Phantom felt happy about himself.

____Who would have thought that his scientific imagination, when combined with the magic of this world, would become such an incredible miracle? This achievement almost made Phantom cry.

____He couldn't help but think about the nearly five years he had spent practicing and experimenting with magic. Originally, Phantom had thought that he had no talent for magic, and that if it were anyone else, he might have given up. However, Phantom had nothing to lose. Being a child had given Phantom a lot of free time, and that was why he had finally succeeded today.

____Now that he has summoned the water elemental magic, Phantom immediately goes to his next experiment. He tries to control the water to change shape and float in the direction Phantom wishes, but suddenly the bubble bursts with a loud bang.

____"Ah ! It's not easy," Phantom exclaimed in surprise.

____After he tried to control the water ball to change its shape as he wanted, it suddenly lost control. The water droplets quickly disintegrated into mist, some falling to the ground, while some evaporated into moisture in the air as they had always been.

____But Phantom was no longer worried about this. He knew that since he had successfully used water element magic once, the next time would definitely be easier.

____After that, Phantom took out a new magic book and opened it, which was a book on the theory of magic, the awakening of magic. Phantom thought back to the night when the library shook and became chaotic in the middle of the night. The strange magic that Phantom used instinctively after the shaking was something that Phantom had always wondered about.

____He was certain that he had not cast any spells at that time. However, as far as Phantom could remember, he had been extremely shocked by the situation at that time. All he could think about at that time was that he wanted everything to go back to the way it was and he could get back into bed as soon as possible as if he had never gotten out of bed before.

____Phantom 's panic at that moment was far greater than Phantom could have imagined. In the moments afterwards, when facing Bishop Vanessa and Dahad , he was constantly feeling tense. Phantom had no time to reminisce about what had happened before with his magic.

____But when it was all over, Phantom would often think back to that night, and he would wonder excitedly how he had managed to cast a spell without casting it. Even when Phantom tried to cast a spell without casting it, he was never able to do so again. Phantom guessed that what was happening must have been what magic books often called a magical awakening.

____In fact, tonight when Phantom began to practice magic again, the first magic book Phantom searched for was not the Water Elemental Magic Theory and the Awakening of Magic, but a magic book about casting spells without speaking.

____But unfortunately, it seemed that only basic magic books were kept in the library of St. Maria's Church, and no higher-level magic books were kept. Phantom had to put that aside for now and focus on practicing his basic four element magic more firmly.

____Phantom 's enthusiasm and effort in learning and practicing magic were enormous, but it seemed that this dark magic world was not kind to him.

.....Phantom often spends all his free time improving the strength of the four elemental magic, as well as finely controlling magic. However, it seems that he is only best at Wind magic. The other elemental magic tends to consume a great deal of his mana. If Phantom practices any of the three non-Wind magic, his mana will quickly run out, making it almost impossible to practice magic as he wishes.
