Chapter 1 - Life Alone

"Get up you little shit."A burly looking boy stomped his leg on another boy who layed on the ground covered in bruises. The boy tried protecting his face by bringing his hands around his face.

But the burly looking boy just stomped his leg harder.

"Useless piece of shit."The burly boy said in distain, pulling his leg back then bringing it back with full force directly onto the stomach of the boy laying on the ground.

"Arg..."The boy lying on the ground groan in pain.

Seeing the boys reaction the burly boy had a satisfactory smile on his face."Next time remember who you mess with."

"Let's go."The burly boy said to his friends who were standing around enjoying the show as they turned and left.

The boy lying on the ground seeing them leave spread himself on the ground looking into the sky. He was already used to this, every now and then those 3 boys came looking for a reason to beat him up.

Initially he wouldn't mind their taunts but when his mother was brought into it, he would try fighting the other party.

But with a weak fragile body like his,he only got beaten up all the time. Silver wouldn't take it easy on anyone who dare insult his dead mother.

Even if he couldn't beat the other party he would still charge upto them.

"Well that sucks."Silver said pulling himself from the ground and dusting his clothes. He looked towards the direction of the the burly boy and his friends.

With a clinched fist, he headed the other way. Not long he came upon a old house that looked like it was going to break down with the slightest touch.

This was his home. Him and his mother used to live here but she died a year ago so, Silver lived all by himself. He looked at the house with complicated emotions, even though the house looked old and worn out this was were he grew up.

The house was a bit far from the Town. It was stationed in the hills which was surrounded by trees. Silver and his mother had encountered snakes and scorpions a few times either inside the house or outside.

Entering the house, he jumped into his bed and stared blankly at the ceiling.

~growl~

Silver felt his stomach release a soft growling sound. Yeah, he hadn't eaten yet. He went to the kitchen and opened a barrel which contained his rations.

Looking inside, he realized there was only one piece of bread left. Holding the bread, one could see how terribly baked the bread was.

Silver looked at the bread then took a bite. It was hard and had no taste to it. He devour all the bread then drank a mouthful of water from another barrel.

Even though the food wasn't good, at least it quilted his hunger. He went back and fell on his bed. That was the last portion of food he had just ate.

He had no money and even if he worked for some of the town people, he will only get this hard and tasteless bread. He was tired of eating this bread.

He had to find away to earn money and buy food or else he might just die of hunger.

After wrapping his head around for a while, he got an idea of how to earn money. He realised this was the season were red eared rabbits mostly start mating.

Red Eared Rabbits meat was very delicious and very rare to come by. If he could hunt some of them, he would sell it to the butchers.

Silver's face flicked with joy. Even though Red Eared Rabbits were very hard to hunt due to their swiftness and high sensitivity to their environment. He had learnt how to use a bow and was quite good at using it.

Hunting the rabbits won't be an issue as long as he was able to locate them and had done some few preparations.

With everything planned out, he went to take out his old bow which he found hidden in a hole at the corner of the room. Even though the bow looked old, it was in good condition.

He had a bow but no arrows. Well he could just make some, he smiled to himself.

With everything planned out, Silver sat down at the entrance of the house staring into the distance of the setting sun.

After sitting there for a while, he got up and entered the house locking the door and windows. He made sure none of them was left open.

He then went and layed on his bed. The room was gradually getting dark, he couldn't be bothered to light a lamp and just closed his eyes.

.....

The sun's rays shone through the gap of the windows onto Silver's face, and coupled with the sounds of chirping birds. It woke Silver up.

30 minutes later...

Silver was done with his preparations and headed into the forest. Since his house was situated very close by, he just took a way at the back.

He walked bit deep into the forest. Carrying on his back was the bundle of arrows he made which were in a sack.

He knew for sure that it wasn't going to be easy, and it prove to be so. After looking around his current area with no success, he decided to head a bit deeper.

Since it was their mating season, Red Eared Rabbits will definitely be in groups rather than moving alone. Mostly they love to feed on Violet flowers, so if he were to find an area growing with Violet Flowers, he'd be definitely in luck.

The reason why they love to feed on Violet Flowers was because of its roots. A matured Violet Flowers roots contained a very sweet and nutritious liquid which made them more attractive. It made their white fur a lot brighter, increased their body size and their sensitivity to the environment while deeping the colour of their red ears. Which in fact made their attraction towards the opposite sex a lot more.

But eating it once didn't mean it will bring about such changes, it will have to be done on regular basis.

Silver who was sweating profusely had been in the forest for a few hours now, but there didn't seem to be any sign of a Red Eared Rabbit or a Violet Flower.

He was quite bothered at this point, not to mention not finding anything. He was now deep inside the forest which was quite dangerous to someone like him.

At this point meeting any Savage Beast will mean his death. Savage Beast as the name suggests were animals that had lost rationality and will attack any human at first sight.

After another 30 minutes, Silver was contemplating on leaving and trying the next day. But right now he was hungry and hadn't eaten since morning. He had eaten the last of his food the day before and if he went back with no success meant he had to sleep on an empty stomach.

But if he did that he'd be weak due to the fact that he hadn't eaten which will decrease his range of hunting. And if he were to encounter any danger his chances of survival will be zero.

Right when Silver was in deep thought, he noticed what seemed to be two red perk up ears in a bunch of bushes a bit far from him.

His face brightened up as he pulled out one of the arrows and placed it in the bow. He made sure to be quiet as possible to make sure the animal didn't notice his presence.

What jumped out of the bushes was as he expected, it was a Red Eared Rabbit. He became a lot more delighted.

Silver didn't immediately take action, he decided to follow the rabbit. While the poor little thing enjoyed itself, it didn't know there was to be a serial killer of his race following behind.

It led Silver through the forest as it enjoyed itself. Seeing it movements, Silver was definitely sure it was heading to were the others were gathered.

He wanted to know were the rest were gathered but wouldn't give the poor guy any chance to join the others. Because if he did that, were they were gathered if he killed one then the rest will definitely run.

And that will ruin his chances of hunting more of them since they'll go into hiding, and trust me when this little guys go into hiding due to the fear of death. It will take quite a long time before they come out.

After following it for a while the little guy stopped and seemed to have gone on high alert as it moved it head around.

Silver hid behind a tree with the arrow ready to be released if it had noticed him. The distance between them was only 20 meters and Silver was sure he wouldn't miss at this range no matter how swift the rabbit was.

The little guy calmed down as it started moving towards another direction. Silver also relaxed his bow and followed behind silently.

A minute later the little guy came to a stop. Suddenly right infront of it jumped out another Red Eared Rabbit. Silver then realised the reason why it had become alert earlier, it seemed to have noticed the other fellow.

The two rabbits sniffed at each other before heading in the same direction. Seeing the other one, Silver became a lot more delighted as he followed behind. It seemed like his earlier assumption was correct.

Silver followed the two rabbits till they came to a stop and he also smelt a fragrance in the air. He instantly knew it was the smell of Violet Flowers during pollination, which also meant the destination of the two rabbits was towards the Violet Flowers.

Which meant apart from this two other Red Eared Rabbits might be heading to the same location or some might actually be there already in the process of mating.

With the smell of the Violet Flowers it wouldn't be hard for Silver to find out were they were clustered at. Since that was the case, he wasn't going to give these two any chance to get there.

He pulled his arrow aimed at the two rabbits. He was planning to take them both out in one go. He was sure to succeed with the two rabbits close together like that.

He inhaled and breathed out calmly. Not realising their situation, the two rabbits just kept gouging on the food they found which made them stop.

Steading himself, Silver pulled on more on the arrow then released it.

-Swisss-

Before the two rabbits knew what was going on,the arrow pierced through the first ones head then directly went through the other one's throat.

It was definitely not a small feat to actually kill two Red Eared Rabbits at the same time.

Silver rushed over to see the two now dead rabbits impaled to the ground by his arrow."Hehe, I actually got the two."

His face brightened seeing that he actually succeeded, he himself wasn't actually sure he would be able to do it. But right infront of him layed the results.

He removed the arrow before cutting a rope branch then tying the two rabbits together before putting them inside the extra sack he brought.

In actual fact Red Eared Rabbits were twice as big as normal rabbits, so holding the sack it looked actually a bit big.

After tying the mouth of the sack, Silver carried it on his shoulders and headed back. But before leaving, he left a few marks for him to be able to find the place easily when he came back.

....

Reaching home, Silver went directly inside the house. He wasn't planning on selling both rabbits, he needed to also enjoy one.

After leaving one of the rabbits in the house and locking the door, he headed for the Town.
