Chapter 0

"SKY!? Sky where are you!"

Cried out Ryan as he was running through the halls of the facility. Based on her vision's latest activity, she was supposed to be around he thought. He was sure he'd looked everywhere but couldn't find her

"Goddamnit if those abominations get to her, I'll go insane".

Now there was but one place left on the floor he had checked from across the hall.

"Maybe" he thought as he sprinted right to the locked steel door.

"Could you run a little slower lad? It's almost impossible to keep up with my age" Sarge said as he approached where Ryan was, grabbing his knees, panting desperately for for air on Lunaris.

"Apologies Sarge. I just can't keep a level head until Sky's safe. This is the only room left on this floor but how do we get in?" Ryan asked.

"Just leave it to me"

Sarge aimed at the door with his arm and with an explosion, a cannonball got lodged into their only obstacle. The door still stood but barely as it lost grip of its frames. Ryan burst through it to see in front of him the girl he was searching for lying unconsciously still on an armchair with marks, scratches and blood all over, a gun in hand. An immobile stalker beneath her. Sarge went in after him and

"What happened here?"

studied the room they were in, the horrid stench finally catching Ryan's attention. At the back of the room were piles of dead bodies, some human, others resembling the stalker, weapons scattered all over the floor as well as blood which painted the walls red and purple. There had been a gruesome battle.

"To think mere rank one beasts caused all of this"

Sarge almost couldn't believe what his own eyes were showing him. Ryan shifted his focus from the bloody mess to the girl in front of him.

"Was I too late?"

He asked no one in particular feared that she might be in a similar condition.

"Found her?"Sarge asked from the back of the room.

"Yeah but in a bad state" He held out his hand, grasped a pistol which materialized from nothingness and inched forward cautiously. The lifeless body oozed out purple from its holes all over. His vision screen displayed to him;

NAME; Stalker

RANK; 1

LEVEL; 23

STATE; Deceased

DESCRIPTION; The lowest ranking alien creature with a high level. Normal, lacking any special attacks and skills

ABILITIES; None

He aimed at the stalker and kicked it lightly to make sure it was as dead as it looked. Once convinced, he went over to the girl and shook her vigorously until she slowly opened her eyes.

"Ryan? Where'd you come from?" She asked.

"A few floors up. I just got here" replied Ryan, relieved she was still breathing.

"Lass, you doing ok?" Sarge cried out from across the room were he sat crouched over the carcass.

"Sarge too? How'd you guys find me?" She asked

"That doesn't matter right now all that does is that you're safe" Ryan hugged her doing a horrible job of holding back his tears while he did.

"Are you alright?" He asked with all the worry on the moon.

"Barely. This demon spawn slashed me multiple times. That damned thing chased me all the way down here after I escaped from the sprinter's insides. Had to exhaust a full mag just to kill this and it's even a high level but hey no stalker's good enough to kill me".

She took a deep breath to confirm she was still alive.

"Gimme a sec", she opened up her inventory and scanned her items.

"I'll let you do your thing" Ryan got up and went over beside Sarge.

"Connor, Rosevelt, Selvet. It's truly saddens me to see you all go out like this but you all died heroes."

"You okay Sarge?" Ryan asked.

"There's no use crying over spilled milk especially at a time like this so yes I should be. You see these bullet holes in their skull? They must've killed themselves rather than give their lives to the rodents."

"That's awful" Ryan said in a sorrowful tone.

Sarge got up and went over to Sky with Ryan trailing. "How ya doing missy?"

"I should be okay after patching myself up", Sky replied disinfecting her wounds with the tools from her inventory.

"Well it's rather fortunate it was only a rank one if you got this bloodied up"

Sarge said as he walked over to a large book shelf that sat at the wall behind Sky "and you did end up in the armory room that's fortune number two. Lad come help me with this shelf would ya?."

Together, the two carried it aside to reveal a huge vault door. Sky, bandaging her wounds, kicked the ground for the chair to rotate, facing their direction.

"Is that the fabled 'Rainbow vault'?" She asked as she got up to them.

"Your thoughts exactly. Straight from the fairy tales" Sarge swiped the keycards in hand at the door. "Thanks for holding it for us Selvet."

The door scanned the key cards and beeped.

"Need a hand?" asked Ryan "No no I've got it"Sky replied. "So Why is it called rainbow vault?" He asked.

The huge heavy door, with clanks and whirls, slowly opened before them revealing its contents. "Oh that's why"

A vast variety of weapons, armor and gear which ranged from Soldier, Elite and Warden ranks made the room as colorful as a freshly painted rainbow.

"Gear up you two. It's about time we got a few upgrades."

Sarge told them. Ryan couldn't look away from the arsenal he could only thought to exist in imagination, smiling broadly like a kid having new toys to play with. Having wrapped around enough, Sky bit off the bandage from her hand

"Understood."
