Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Elijah's POV

"Calm down, Elijah, I can't find your wife."

"What?"l

"Dorothy isn't here. I think she left the party. Weirdly, she isn't here, because there is no way that she will leave without you. Do you think she saw us?"

'Did she see us? If she did, she would have made a scene but she didn't. However, I can't use that to determine if she saw us or not.'

Fuck! Why did the hell did she leave the party?

I couldn't come up with an excuse for her so I picked up my phone and dialed my driver's number. He answered at the first ring.

"Hello sir," he said in reverence. I could imagine him bowing his head as he always does.

"Are you with my wife? Did you drive her home?" I asked, ignoring Lilly whose face changed to a frown the moment I mentioned my wife.

'She keeps getting on my nerves with her attitude.' I thought.

"No sir, but I think I saw her leaving in another car." He replied, after some moment.

"Leaving in another car? Are you sure of what you are saying?"

"I think so, but... I... might be wrong," he stammered and I hung up immediately.

I dialed her number. It rang many times and she didn't answer. I chuckled and tried again but it was the same.

"What is wrong? Do you think she found out?" Lilly asked, impatiently.

"I'm not sure, but I will find out soon."

"Dorothy left without me, in another car. How dare she? Who the hell took her out of the party without permission? She is so annoying." I wondered.

"I will have to deal with and get rid of anything that might become a problem to our marriage," I concluded.

Dorothy's POV

Warm hands were wrapped around my waist so protectively. I could hear someone breathing so heavily. I was on a bed, and I could tell I was naked. 'How did I end up here? Who am I here with? Elijah? No that's not possible!'

My whole head hurt and I could tell that I was having a hangover, but I was hesitant to open my eyes because I was scared of who I might see on the bed with me. I tried moving away, but his strong hand didn't let me go.

"Dorothy, time to face the truth," I lectured as I opened my eyes. The first thing that caught my eye was the sunlight. It made my head hurt more. I turned my body to look at the person sleeping on the bed with me, which made the bedsheets on my body loosen and so did his grip.

I was welcomed with the most beautiful view ever. His brown hair was down as few strands covered his face and his eyelashes were so long and beautiful just like that of a woman, and his lips... his lips... I trail off as I remember last night. "Then take me. Show me you mean it by having sex with me." My very own words...

"Ah!" I winced and sat on the bed. Thankfully he didn't wake up. The reality of last night hit me. Did I say that? Asked him to take me. I had sex with Marcelo and cheated on my husband... I did that. I couldn't remember anything else apart from asking him to take me.

I was not thinking and the alcohol made me stupid. "I have to get out of here. I can't possibly be here when he wakes up." I said trying to gather my thoughts.

"Then where would I go to? To Elijah? No, I won't, maybe it's high time things ended between us. We never loved each other and we won't. I'm not going to do this anymore, but first I have to get out of here," I continued as I removed his big arm from my lap and stepped out of the bed.

I picked my gown from the floor and went out of his hotel room. I encountered some staff but they didn't pay much attention to me, so, I was able to get out of the hotel without any drama.

I hailed a cab, entered, and directed him to take me to my family estate.

The cab finally arrived at my family's house and I got down and paid for the cab. I was greeted by the maid and the family butler as he led me inside.

The house was an old British noble house. There were many rooms and a small hallway that led to the room in the house. There was a small lodge at the back where the workers stayed, a big kitchen inside the room, and a dining room next to the kitchen- That was the only place our family got to see each other.

The moment I entered the house, I saw everyone apart from my father, already waiting for me at the stairs. 'The securities must have informed them of my arrival.' I thought nervously.

"What are you doing here?" My grandmother asked immediately while I gulped down in fear.

My grandmother was never pleased with whatever I did. She was a strict and calculating woman. If you aren't useful to the family, she will never hesitate to get rid of you, and that is why I always tried to satisfy her and Landon.

Landon, my older brother was just like her. He was a strict and cunning man. You can't get too smart with him and at that moment, I knew all he wanted was for me to go. It was so obvious that they weren't pleased to see me.

It had been years since I got married to Elijah and left the family house, yet no one cared about that. 'I understand I'm not their favorite person, but can't they be a little kind? If Landon can't do it, can't Kol and Brad be welcoming?'

My brothers were the real definition of striking triplets. Even though they were born together, Landon was older at the age of 32, followed by Brad at 28, and Kol at 22. They were my grandmother's beloved grandsons.

I always wondered if maybe it was because they took after my dad. Perhaps, that was why she loved them so much. They had my father's blonde hair, his green sleepy eyes, his pointed nose shape, his heart-shaped lips, his tallness, and some of his behavior.

Meanwhile, I looked so much like my mother. I had her black hair, her brown eyes, and everything about her. People always mistook us for the same people, and that had been haunting my family every time, so I could not blame them for pushing me away. I caused her death after all.

"Greetings to you, Grandmother. I would like to have a conversation with you." I answered too badly.

"Go ahead. I'm all ears," She responded quickly. They wouldn't even allow me to go inside my old room or their room, not to talk of dining with them.

"I think it will be better if we talk privately, I....." I started to say before Kol cut me off.

"Just tell her whatever she needs to know. Who knows what you might do to her if you are alone with her," Kol called out while I clenched my fist, suppressing my anger.

I understood their pain. I missed her too. 'But do they have to be this rude?' I wondered as I looked at Landon and Brad for help, but they stared back at me coldly.

"Fine. If they want me to say it here, I will." I concluded.

"I'm divorcing Elijah," I dropped the bomb and the expressions on their face remained unchanged. My Grandmother looked pissed at me.

"And why is that?"

"He is cheating on me. He has been doing that for the past four years of our marriage, so I want a divorce."

I expected them to be shocked or confused, even angry for my sake, but the reactions on their face didn't change. They were not shaken by my words, not that I expected much from them, but at least, I expected some sort of reaction from one of them. At that moment, it became clear to me.

"You guys knew?" I gasped as I covered my mouth.

'There is no way they will know that he is cheating on me and still wants me to continue the marriage, right?' I questioned myself.

"You are right. We know and… you can't divorce your husband."
