Chapter 2: Building a Deathtrap… Sort Of

Summoning the Dungeon Interface in his mind, Ryo scanned his limited options. At Core Level 1, his abilities were pitiful. He could summon Tier 1 monsters, like slimes, or create a few basic traps—spike pits, loose rocks, or slippery floors. Not exactly a deathtrap, but it was a start.

"Alright, think! She's a noob, so she'll fall for something simple, right?"

With his mana reserves at only 100 points, he couldn't afford to go all out. He needed to place smart traps and one or two slimes to trip her up.

Dungeon Construction: Initial Layout

1. Room 1: Entrance (Plain Room)

2. Room 2: Narrow Hallway with Slippery Floor (10 Mana)

3. Room 3: Treasure Room (Empty Chest)

4. Summon Monster: 1 Slime (20 Mana)

"Okay, it's not much, but it'll have to do."

Ryo used the last of his mana to place the slime in the hallway. The small, gelatinous creature wobbled to life, its gooey form shifting lazily.

"C'mon, little guy. All you gotta do is slow her down!"

Just as Ryo finished placing the traps, the adventurer entered the narrow hallway. Her boots clicked against the stone floor as she carefully advanced, her sword drawn. When she hit the slippery section, her feet shot out from under her with a yelp.

"Yes!" Ryo cheered mentally. "Score one for me!"

The adventurer crashed to the ground, but she wasn't done yet. Gritting her teeth, she pushed herself up—only to come face-to-face with the slime.

The little monster let out a bubbly gurgle and lunged.

"Go, slime! Get her!"

The adventurer shrieked, swinging her wooden sword wildly. The slime splattered across the walls, knocked out in a single hit.

"Oh, come on!" Ryo groaned. "How useless are you?"

The adventurer stumbled to her feet, panting. She looked annoyed but determined as she moved toward the final room—where Ryo's core awaited.

End of Chapter 2 Tease

Ryo only had a few minutes to come up with another plan. His dungeon was weak, his resources limited, and a determined adventurer was already closing in on his core. But if there was one thing Ryo knew from all his years of gaming, it was this:

There's always a way to win—if you think outside the box.

What Comes Next?

Will Ryo level up his dungeon and unlock stronger monsters? Can he fend off waves of adventurers and expand his domain? And what happens when rival dungeons and sentient monsters show up, threatening his existence?

This is just the beginning of Ryo's journey as a dungeon core. With creativity, cunning, and a little luck, he just might turn this dungeon into the deadliest lair the world has ever seen—or die trying.
