I frown thoughtfully as I watches the Borg children in their alcoves. Seven walk up and give me a nod as I ask "How are they doing?"
"They are...adapting. They are adolescent drones, they should be able to adjust fully."
My ability to affect the outcome of the encounter was very limited. The cube was a lower threat with the armor plating, but other than that I was hardly that relevant.
At least things ended up as well as in OT with only one casualty.
And now we are stuck with four adolescent drones. Another four children.
I nod slowly "We should plan on getting them their own quarters as soon as they are able to handle the seclusion long enough. It should help in their adaptation. Besides, its more comfortable than sharing a cargobay."
Seven nod "Indeed. I will also be regenerating in the cargobay until such time they are ready for that step."
"I would join you but I require a bed...and I think that came out wrong." I answer before facepalming.
"I wouldn't...mind it if you joined me some other time." she say before walking over to step into her alcove "Sweet dreams."
I'm left standing there, blinking.
A few weeks later the Fair Haven holoprogram malfunctioned and suddenly the VI characters could detect the 'abilities' of the Voyager crew. When I heard they had captured Tom and Harry(of course) I simply raised my eyebrown before walking to the nearest weapon locker only to be almost tackled by B'Elanna.
"Oh no! NOT again. I am not rebuilding the entire powergrid on that deck again!"
"Well, we got to do something! Just shutting the thing down dont help so i'm pulling the plug." I say as I turn to face her and she nod
"Agreed, but not with a damn phaser overload again. After last time we rebuilt the powergrid I installed a manual bypass in the holodecks powergrid. Go to Jefferies tube 34, subsection 12-A and you can pull the plug. It will however seriously disrupt any program running at the time. We are going to need to rebuild Fair Haven again...I was hoping we wouldnt need to."
Nodding I turn to Janeway "Captain?" and she hesitate before giving me a nod
"Do it."
The Fair Haven program was seriously corrupted by having the power cut. Maybe 20% of the characters could be saved. Luckily Tom managed to rescue the important ones the crew regularly interacted with. Other than that the rest of the town had to be remodeled from scratch.
In another lucky break the Doctors holocamera came to good use. He have a extensive collections of pictures of the town and those could be used to aid in the reconstruction.
As for my missing mechadendrite I lost during the entire blood sport thing...Its back and the entire head of it is redesigned. It now longer only got engineering tools, but also medical instruments just as dermal regenerators and micro scalpels installed.
After almost three years my practical and theoretical knowledge start to match that of someone on the last semester at starfleet academy with my practical skills a bit ahead and my theoretical a bit behind so I'm expanding my studies into medicine. At least basic knowledge for use in a emergency. Serenity can hold a copy of Voyagers medical database as well and can be accessed at all times.
Hope for the best, Plan for the worst.
