James sat in a crouched position, elbows resting on his knees, surrounded by the aftermath of his training. The mirror dimension stretched endlessly around him, a landscape of shattered reflections and fractured fragments of places and moments—his apartment, Tech Haven, the streets of New York—now nothing more than jagged illusions broken by the strain of their battles.
The air shimmered with remnants of the mystical energy Elaria had wielded, energy that felt vast and ancient, yet foreign in her hands. He wiped the sweat from his brow, his head hanging low. Despite everything, his heart felt heavy, and uncertainty gnawed at him.
Elaria stood beside him, her slender figure radiating calm. She had been patient with him during his training, guiding him with a quiet wisdom that made her seem both ancient and youthful at the same time. Now, she gazed down at him with a warm, knowing smile.
"You've done well, James," Elaria said softly. "The Council's power has chosen you for a reason. You hold within you the Six Virtues—strength, stamina, speed, power, wisdom, and courage. Each one is already a part of you."
James let out a slow breath, brushing his hands through his hair in frustration. "Yeah, sure. I've got all these godly powers, but let's be real, Elaria. I work at a tech store. Last time I fought Kain, he beat the crap out of me. And now I'm supposed to go back out there and stop him?" He shook his head. "I'm just… me. I'm not a soldier or a hero. I don't know how to do this."
Elaria knelt beside him, resting a gentle hand on his shoulder. "James, courage isn't about knowing you'll win every fight. It's about standing up, even when you think you might lose. You've already fought Kain once, and you survived. That's courage. It's in you. Everything you need to win is already there."
James glanced at her, his expression a mix of doubt and gratitude. "I wish I could believe that."
Elaria smiled warmly and clapped her hands. A ripple spread through the air, and the world around them shattered like glass, pulling them out of the mirror dimension.
The swirling reflections gave way to solid stone, and they found themselves back in the cave, standing within the ancient sanctuary where it had all begun. The statues of the Council loomed silently in the distance, and the air hummed faintly with energy.
Elaria stretched her arms as if relieved to return. "You don't have to see your powers as a burden, James. They are a gift—one only you can wield."
James nodded absentmindedly, her words barely registering. He crouched again, brushing dust from the stone floor. Something had caught his eye—a small object lying just where he had dropped it the second time he had stumbled into the cave.
His phone.
His heart skipped a beat as he reached for it, the cracked screen lighting up at his touch. Notifications flooded in—missed calls, messages, voicemails. The names of his closed ones flashed across the screen: Marcus. Rebecca.
James's heart sank. He scrolled through the list of texts until a recent one from Marcus caught his attention. He was about to swipe it away when Elaria spoke, her voice curious but gentle.
"Maybe you should see what it says."
James hesitated, but curiosity got the better of him. He opened the message.
A video began to play. The shaky footage showed the carnival, overrun by shadowy creatures—the Furies—prowling through terrified crowds. Screams echoed from all directions. Children cried, parents shouted for help, and officers struggled to hold the line. Then, a figure appeared on the screen—Elias Kain, standing at the heart of the chaos, waiting.
Marcus's voice accompanied the video, calm but weighted with urgency. "The world's falling apart, James. We need you, man. I know you can do this. Don't leave us hanging."
James sat frozen, the phone heavy in his hands. His breath came in slow, deliberate pulls as the reality of the situation sank in.
Elaria knelt beside him again, watching him with her deep, knowing eyes. "The choice is yours," she said softly. "You don't have to return. If Kain steals your powers, he'll use them to reshape the world—and not in ways you would like. But if you stay here, you'll remain safe. No one will blame you for protecting yourself."
For a moment, silence stretched between them, heavy and unbroken. James stared down at the glowing screen in his hand, his thoughts swirling in a storm of fear and uncertainty.
And then, slowly, something shifted within him.
He clenched his jaw and shook his head.
"Nah," he whispered, the weight in his voice lifting slightly. "It's my mess. I've gotta clear it up."
Elaria's expression brightened, a grin tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Good," she said with a hint of amusement. "I thought you'd say that."
James pushed himself to his feet, the phone still in his hand. He took one last look around the ancient cave, the place where his journey had begun. This time, the fear in his chest didn't control him.
He wasn't ready. He wasn't perfect. But he was done running.
"Let's get this over with," he muttered, a small but determined spark glinting in his eyes.
Elaria gave him an approving nod. "Then let's not keep the world waiting."
And with that, the champion of Shazam stepped forward, ready to face whatever came next.

Chapter: The Champion Returns
Elias Kain stood atop the Carnival's central platform, tapping his finger against the golden face of an old pocket watch. He snapped it shut with a sigh of frustration, his sharp features twisted in annoyance.
He peered around at the chaos below him—terrified civilians huddled under broken rides, cops scrambling to set up barricades, and the eerie stillness of his shadowy Furies stalking the grounds, waiting for his next command.
Still no sign of Shazam.
Kain sighed deeply and adjusted his coat, the Heart of Typhon glowing faintly beneath his sleeve. His patience was wearing thin.
A static hum filled the air as an officer's voice crackled through a megaphone from behind the barricades.
"Kain! We know who you are—Elias Kain, the archaeologist! We've read the reports. You disappeared years ago. You don't have to do this. Let the hostages go, and we can work this out—"
Kain scoffed, waving a hand dismissively. "Idiots." He turned to one of his Furies, a hulking beast of shadow and sinew, and pointed toward the barricades. "Fetch that loud fool."
The Fury hissed in acknowledgment, slithering across the carnival grounds like a predator hunting prey. Moments later, the terrified officer was dragged, struggling, up to the platform, still clutching the megaphone. The Fury shoved the man toward Kain with a cruel snarl.
Kain snatched the megaphone from the officer's trembling hands. With a casual flick of his wrist, he sent the man flying off the platform, landing safely but unceremoniously among his fellow officers.
Kain raised the megaphone to his lips, his voice booming through the air, carried with eerie calm and dark amusement.
"Shazam!" Kain's voice echoed across the carnival. "I know you can hear me. I told you I'd start breaking things if you didn't show up. Well..." He chuckled, the sound low and menacing. "It seems the time has come to make good on my promise."
He glanced at his Furies with a wicked grin. "Bring me a child."
The shadowy creatures slithered toward a nearby group of hostages, causing parents to scream and pull their children close. One Fury ignored the cries and grabbed a small boy, yanking him from his mother's arms. The child struggled, sobbing, as the Fury hauled him toward Kain.
Kain turned back toward the crowd, holding the megaphone with one hand while raising the other, crackling with dark energy. "Now, let's see if Shazam thinks saving one little boy is worth his time."
The Fury handed the child to Kain, who held him aloft by the collar of his jacket. "Don't cry, little one," Kain whispered mockingly. "You'll only feel it for a moment."
Just as Kain raised his hand, ready to unleash his power on the terrified child—
BOOOOM!
A deafening crack split the sky, as if the very heavens were being torn apart. The ground trembled beneath Kain's feet, and all eyes turned upward to the stormy skies above the carnival.
From the swirling clouds, a brilliant flash of light erupted, followed by the deafening roar of thunder. Lightning arced down toward the ground in a blinding streak—
And in came Shazam.
He hit the ground with earth-shaking force, sending a shockwave through the carnival. The impact knocked back several Furies and shook the nearby rides. For a moment, the entire carnival was silent, as if the world held its breath.
James stood at the center of the crater he had created, his red suit gleaming, the lightning bolt on his chest crackling with raw energy. His cape billowed behind him, and his eyes were alight with determination.
Without hesitation, he raised his hand to the Fury holding the child—
"I don't think the boy likes you."
A bolt of lightning shot from his fingertips, vaporizing the shadowy creature in an instant. The child tumbled through the air, but before he could hit the ground, Shazam darted forward with inhuman speed, catching him and cradling him safely in his arms.
"Gotcha, kid." Shazam gave the boy a reassuring grin before gently setting him down near the barricades, where officers quickly ushered him to safety.
Kain watched the display with a slow, amused grin spreading across his face. He could feel the raw, unfiltered power radiating from Shazam like a beacon. It was stronger than before—sharper, more refined.
"There you are," Kain whispered, almost to himself.
Shazam turned, his eyes locking onto Kain. Thunder rumbled overhead as they stared each other down, two forces of immense power standing at the center of the storm.
"Let's end this," James growled, lightning crackling along his arms.
Kain grinned wickedly, the Heart of Typhon glowing brighter beneath his coat. "Yes," he whispered, raising his hands. "Let's finish what we started."

Hey, Dear Readers.
So, the first Arc is going to reach its climax. Finally. How did you like this chapter? I think the training part was cut short, but for some reason, I like it that way.
I am trying to turn it into a montage of scenes, where James's life appears like a movie. This fight will shake the world of MCU, and many things will come into play.
Anyways, after this, the story will progress with the canon. Thor(2011) will happen, and James will be a part of it, whether he likes it or not.
Peace.
