***EARLIER TODAY...
The day was exhausting, Makayla got home and prepped dinner, she was tired from all the activities.
She was enjoying the evening when her uncle came with three strangers.
In shock, she covers her nightie with a Bantu fabric glances at them and retreats to her chamber.
She types a number on her phone and dials it.
Her call is answered, without wasting time she starts complaining about what had just happened.
"Uncle John... Uncle brought a woman home, she was accompanied by two young ladies." Makayla explained angrily on the phone.
" Hmm, and it's bad because...?" Uncle John enquired.
"I don't have money to care for them." Makayla retorted.
"Who said you'd have to care for the guests." Uncle John laughed at Makayla he thought she was a true comedian.
"Why the hell would uncle bring these people here. I already dislike the eldest daughter, she thinks she is tough ." Makayla spoke in disdain.
"Makayla, be a good girl. No one told you to care for them. Furthermore, don't judge people based on your preconceptions.
Paulo knows why they're there. Don't cause trouble." Disciplined uncle John.
"~~But~~ ..."
"No buts, mind your own but and let your uncle be for once." Uncle John spoke as he ended the call.
Makayla groans in annoyance, her dear uncle John scolded her because of these lowlife people.
She knew she would come to dislike them.
***PRESENT TIME...
"Here you go." Uncle Paulo handed me a sack that contained a kebab and a bottle of orange juice.
"Thank you Sir." I was grateful, although he evoked a mysterious aura, he was decent to shelter and feed us.
Just saying, ain't meaning I am on his services now.
"Sir? You can call me Dad." He smiled.
When mom saw that I wouldn't call him Dad , she hurriedly asked him about something irrelevant, to ease the atmosphere.
Alana glanced at me with a 'This guy is sick in the head' kinda glance.
I gestured to her not to be rude to the person who has opened his home for us.
"Such a bore," Alana spoke audible enough for the elders to hear.
"Excuse me?" Enquired uncle Paulo.
Mom gazed at Alana with disdain, she seemed rather nervous than angered.
"My headache, I feel feverish." Alana lied.
"Oh, there are some tablets in the kitchen for headaches." He instructed.
"Maria, you can give some remedies to the girls for rest.". He smiled.
Mom nodded as she smiled beatifically.
'Argh π' I thought.
"Uncle Paulo? Who is the young lady from earlier." I was shocked by Alana's boldness. She dared ask him who that chick was.
"My niece, Makayla." He said fatly.
"She's quite rude." I joined the conversation.
"Indeed," Uncle Paulo nodded as he agreed to my point of view. "Don't mind her my dear, she will grow accustomed to your presence with the passing of time.
"Hopefully." Mom muttered.
"You need to get some rest now, your hemoglobin appears to be low. " He said as firmly stared at me.
'So he is a health expert.' I guessed.
"Really, it might be from all the scenarios from Angola." Mom added.
Time seemed to fly by , I was finding it hard to be happy, a lot of people wanted to be where I was.
I would've been happy had the circumstances been different.
***TWO HOURS LATER....
Uncle Paulo had already left the house, my mom thoroughly scanned her suitcase in search of her skincare products....
Alana is enjoying the android TV. 'We hadn't had one back in Angola.'
Surprisingly, someone knocked on the sitting room's door.
It was that bitch they called Makayla.
"Hi." She greeted.
Alana smiled and replied with a nod. I simply ignored her and carried on watching TV.
"Hi, how are you dear." My mom courtesies.
"I'm well thanks, I am Elizabeth Makayla by the way." She introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you Makayla." Alana smiled.
"These are both your daughters?" She asked smiling.
"Yeah, Ylva and Alana." Mom gestured us according to the names.
"Cool." Makayla nodded.
"Feel welcomed here, if you need something I'm in the chamber. It's cold here I've turned up the heater." Makayla explained.
Mom nodded in response.
"Cool." Added Alana.
"Super, so... I'll see y'all tomorrow, have a good night." Makayla waved at us before retreating to her chamber.
"This girl will end up being a pain in the ass." Mom sighed
"Hypocrite." Alana beamed.
