"Sorry." All I could see was the womans face, tears welled in her eyes yet they never seemed to come. Was waiting for them to fall going to help me in some way? Was this some kind of salvation? I couldn't move. My limbs were locked together and my gaze was looked into her eyes. I couldn't look away, I was trapped here.
"I'm so sorry," her voice was shaking and it seemed to change tone. It was almost like she knew me, like she did something. Why are you apologizing? I tried moving my lips, not a sound came out.
"I had no choice, I didn't know what to do.. I didn't want to ask for help, so I tried talking to my friends.. but no one seemed to listen! So I just went back into the cycle and.." Her words were racing, and her movements jittery. She was so unstable, her emotions flickering throughout her face and I could hear if in the tone of her voice. Even through all of that she didn't dare to break our soul to soul connection. I could see the black dot in her eyes, I've only now noticed it. That hole that allows her to see. Her eyes were glassy like a doll.
She stopped talking.
Is she done? She was still looking at me. Those eyes... those voids, there were no sparkle, no sincerity.
"It'll be alright" Finally.. I spoke. My eyes were awake, my soul was free at last. I took a step and...
