"You think you're safe now, Aria?" Logan's voice cut through the silence like a knife. His tone was smooth, yet filled with an underlying malice.
Aria froze, her fingers gripping the edge of the desk as she turned to face him. Her heart was pounding, but she refused to let him see how his presence still unnerved her. It had been days since she'd last seen Logan, but she could feel the darkness in him lingering, stalking her every step.
"What are you doing here, Logan?" Her voice was steady, though inside, her blood boiled with rage. She hadn't asked for any of this. All she wanted was to be free—free of him, free of the life he had stolen from her.
"I was just… checking on you," Logan replied, his lips curling into a sickening smile. "I wanted to make sure you remember who you really belong to."
Aria's eyes narrowed, but she didn't back down. "I belong to no one," she spat. "Not to you, and certainly not to anyone else."
