But no sooner had he placed his phone back on the desk than another call came in—it was Hu Jing.
"Ye Fan, are you busy?" Hu Jing's coquettish laughter came through the phone.
Ye Fan smiled lightly, "Just bored. What's up?"
"Giggle, nothing much, I just finished work and suddenly saw your desk empty. It struck me you've been promoted for a week now." Hu Jing teased playfully, "But, it's already been a week, why haven't I seen you 'return in triumphant splendor' to revisit your old haunts and check in on old acquaintances?"
Ye Fan felt embarrassed; her words painted him as a heartless scoundrel who forgot old friends. But, in fact, he had just invited Hu Jing for dinner last night and they had gone to the Yonghui Club, staying until late before parting ways.
Of course, he understood what Hu Jing meant—she wanted him to swing by her office for a visit.
