The demon sighed, with a glimmer of vulnerability in his eyes. "I wanted to have just one heart... like yours, so bright and beautiful. I was envious of you, of what you are. Forgive me." It was the first time the demon had spoken such beautiful and sincere words, completely stripped of his usual darkness.
As he looked down into his being, where once the most absolute darkness reigned, something new appeared. There, in the abyss where his second heart had remained inert for so long, now pulsed with life. And the most surprising thing of all: it was glowing. It wasn't a glow as strong as the angel's, but it was a faint light flickering inside him. That filled him with an incredible happiness, one he had never felt before. That small spark of light illuminated what had once been absolute darkness.
"Now I understand..." murmured the demon, looking at the woman with glowing eyes. "Thank you... thank you for making me so happy." In his words, there was a genuine gratitude, something he had never thought he could feel.
The angel, hearing those words, couldn't hold back her tears. But this time, they weren't tears of sadness, but of joy and gratitude. She finally felt that after all this time, all her effort, her care, and her love had been returned. She felt that the purpose of her life had finally been fulfilled.
"I love you," she said, her voice breaking with emotion.
He had never felt something so pure, so intense. The demon looked deeply into her eyes and, with an unusual softness for him, responded, "I love you."
Their hands intertwined, and in that simple yet meaningful gesture, they both found something neither had imagined possible. They drew closer to one another, and in the silence that surrounded them, they brought their lips together in a kiss of love. That kiss, pure and full of passion, wasn't just a physical gesture; it was an exchange of their souls, of their opposite worlds.
In that moment, they gave each other what they never thought they could offer: the demon, who had only known darkness and selfishness, gave his vulnerability and his tears to the angel; and the angel, who had only known purity and light, offered her unconditional love to someone marked by darkness. In that kiss, they gifted each other what they had been missing from the very beginning.
The angel received the tears of a demon, and the demon received the love of an angel.
And so, they remained together, intertwined in an eternal bond, and with time, the first human was born, the fruit of the love between an angel and a demon. This being, with its unique mix of light and darkness, embodied the union of their two worlds, carrying within the essence of its parents. Their sins and virtues fused, forming one.
The white dragon, from the heights of his starry sky, watched the couple with deep satisfaction. In his contemplation, he realized something crucial that he had overlooked when making his wish to the tree of life: he had not only created a human, but also a bridge between opposites. In that moment of revelation, he understood that life had returned to its original form.
When a demon and an angel unite, a human is born, the most perfect and imperfect creation of God, and for that reason, it is the most beautiful life of all.
