Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: This Is a Misunderstanding

When Chen Xin arrived at the hospital, it was 9 o'clock in the evening.

After Wang Shuo woke up, although Chen Cheng was very reluctant, his body honestly sent a message to Chen Xin.

Chen Xin didn't rush over immediately either, but deliberately waited for half an hour before coming. This half hour was the transition period she left for the four brothers to reunite after a near-death experience.

It didn't take much thought to know how the four brothers must have cried their hearts out during this time, touching and heartwarming. She had always kept a respectful distance from such things.

So, as soon as the minute hand of nine o'clock passed, she punctually stepped into Wang Shuo's hospital room.

There was no one else in the room, as if they all knew she was coming and deliberately avoided her. Chen Xin didn't mind.

She and Chen Cheng had never seen eye to eye. When they met, it was like water meeting oil, and someone lit a fire. Even substances that couldn't burn would ignite into a blazing fire.

Well, Chen Cheng was the kind of person with a self-igniting oil-like temperament.

At this moment, Wang Shuo was leaning against the bed head, holding a magazine he had somehow found, seemingly engrossed in it. Chen Xin especially noticed the cover of the magazine, which read "Issue 12, 2017."

He must have heard the footsteps, as the opposite Wang Shuo put down the magazine in his hand, revealing a pair of clear eyes, and smiled, "You're here."

Chen Xin nodded, wanting to put the fruit in her hand on the table next to the bed, but the fruit gift box she had just sent a few hours ago seemed to mock her foolishness.

She wrinkled her delicate eyebrows and then placed the fruit bag on the floor next to the table.

Throughout the process, she didn't make a sound. Anyone watching would think their relationship was definitely unusual, and they would never guess that this was their first formal meeting.

Wang Shuo was also carefully observing the girl who had just walked in. She was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen in reality... If she was Chen Cheng's cousin... Wang Shuo believed it.

Indeed, with more money, even appearance gets a boost.

As for the so-called beauties on TV and the internet... Wang Shuo secretly curled his lip, thinking that even Chen Cheng would probably look more authentic than them in terms of appearance.

"First time meeting, let me introduce myself, I'm Wang Shuo, nice to meet you." Wang Shuo smiled slightly, trying to extend his small hand to show his gentlemanly side.

"This should be the second time we've met." Chen Xin said calmly, seemingly not noticing Wang Shuo's outstretched arm.

"Really?" Wang Shuo embarrassedly put down his hand, subconsciously rubbing his head and laughing: "Then it might be my mistake, I don't have any impression."

"Guanggu Pedestrian Street."

Guanggu Pedestrian Street? Why does that sound so familiar? Wang Shuo rubbed his head.

"Boyfriend."

Boy...? Suddenly, Wang Shuo remembered. He pointed at Chen Xin, his eyes wide open: "You are... you are!"

"Hello, my name is Chen Xin. Chen as in Chen family, Xin as in thriving." Chen Xin ignored the astonished Wang Shuo and instead extended her hand, gently grasping Wang Shuo's finger that was pointing at her, shaking it twice, then retracting it.

The cold and proud Miss Chen was as cold and proud as ever.

Wang Shuo had no time to feel whether Chen Xin's hand was soft; his mind was now filled with what Chen Xin had just said.

"You are... the one I met at Guanggu Pedestrian Street..." Wang Shuo swallowed the rest of the words, but his surprised expression gave away his thoughts.

Chen Xin nodded.

"So it was you..." Wang Shuo was so surprised that his mouth gaped open, but he soon showed a look of realization, and now everything made sense.

This also explained why the police officer had referred to her as Miss Chen over the phone; why Chen Cheng's cousin would visit him repeatedly during his coma and cover all the medical expenses; and why Chen Xin had just said this was their second meeting.

Everything was because the person he had inadvertently helped a month ago was Chen Xin standing in front of him!

At that time, he was visually impaired and focused on how to quickly disengage, so he didn't pay attention to the appearance of the girl, which was why he didn't recognize her when they met earlier.

Wang Shuo was very frustrated, it seemed he really was destined to be a homebody.

But then again.

"How... did you find me?" Wang Shuo was curious.

"You left a statement at the police station."

Wang Shuo understood that the statement he left at the police station detailed his name and identity, making it quite simple to find him.

"The police said you might have been injured while fighting with the thugs, so we checked the admission records of all hospitals and eventually found yours."

Chen Xin looked at Wang Shuo lying on the hospital bed, and her delicate eyebrows furrowed again.

"But I didn't expect you to be in bed for a month. If you feel any discomfort, I can arrange for follow-up treatment, and it's not impossible to invite internationally renowned brain experts."

"I will do my best to ensure you return to your previous state."

Chen Xin's expression was calm, her voice clear and cold, but her words were unequivocal.

"Well... I think I'm recovering well, thank you for your kindness, but it's really not necessary." Wang Shuo embarrassedly refused, fighting with thugs... that doesn't seem to be about him, right? Did Chen Xin misunderstand?

Chen Xin looked at Wang Shuo suspiciously.

"Really... really, it's not necessary. Look, I'm in great shape now, I can get out of bed right away..." Saying this, Wang Shuo tried to get out of bed to show Chen Xin what a robust body looked like, but he seemed to have overestimated the condition of a body that had not moved for a month and was only maintained by nutrient infusions. As soon as he tried to get up, he fell forward, landing in a rather ungraceful position.

Chen Xin's delicate eyebrows furrowed again, as if she had been holding back for a long time, before finally exhaling softly and walking over to help Wang Shuo back into bed.

"Ha... heh, that was a mistake... a mistake... actually, I really have recovered..."

Wang Shuo wanted to explain further, but Chen Xin interrupted him calmly: "Alright, I understand. You just focus on recovering now. I will explain the situation to the doctor, and you don't need to worry about the expenses, I will cover everything."

"It's late today, so I won't disturb you." Chen Xin paused and said, "I'll come see you again tomorrow."

With that, Chen Xin didn't give Wang Shuo a chance to speak and walked straight out of the ward.

"Miss Chen..."

Wang Shuo's words were cut short as he watched helplessly the already closed door of the ward, before finally finishing the sentence: "It's not what you think!"

Wang Shuo felt like crying but had no tears.

This... is a misunderstanding... really, it's a misunderstanding!
