Chapter 14

"I think there's something wrong with me." I whimper, leaning into his hands.

"What do you mean?" he asks, cautiously.

"Can I come in?" I mumble, pulling away from him.

"Oh! Yeah, of course." He babbles, opening the door wider.

I slip through and immediately sit on the bed.

"So what's going on, Claire?" Sebastian questions after shutting the door.

"There's something wrong with me." I mutter, picking at the fraying strings on my jeans.

"Explain, Claire....Please..." he begs, sitting on the bed across from me.

"Some things happened with Stephanie." I murmur, still looking away from him.

It's silent for a second and I look up at him with a questioning look.

"Who's Stephanie?" he says, looking confused.

"His wife." I grunt.

"Whose?"

"Alex!" I say, annoyed.

"Oh, okay. Well what happened?" he whispers, putting a hand on my knee.

Moving slightly, I subtly shrug his hand off my knee and clear my throat.

"She got me angry and I don't even know explain it..."I trail off, pulling at my hair.

"Well, why don't we start with what she said?" he suggests, shrugging his shoulders.

"She's been taunting me all week. She keeps acting like she's better than me and that annoyed me. But then she

started bragging about how he wanted her and not me. Then today she brought shit up about my parents. Who I'm sure you've heard of. Everyone has." I huff, leaning back against his headboard.

He shakes his head, "I haven't."

Raising an eyebrow, I say, "Made a deal with demons to be successful. Then committed suicide to avoid the end of their contract."

His eyes widen and his mouth drops open.

"Yeah. Those are my parents." I nod, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly.

"Wow." He breathes, "I'm sorry."

"Yeah....Me too." I huff, staring down at the floor.

"So then what happened after she said those things?" he changes the subject.

I sigh in relief and mutter, "That's the hard part."

"Well I'll try to understand. Do your best." He shrugs.

Looking up at the ceiling, I clamp my eyes shut.

"She flew." I murmur.

"She flew?" he says and his face morphs into one of disbelief.

"Yeah. Like I didn't touch her or anything, but she just suddenly flew. And then later I went into my room and all my

books fell off my book case." I try to explain.

"You have got to be fucking kidding me....." he snaps.

My eyes snap open and I sit up, looking at him.

"What?" I breathe, my eyebrows furrowing.

"You think this is a joke?" he spits, "I was actually worried! I thought something happened!"

"I'm not lying to you!" I plead, "I'm telling the truth!"

My head drops down into my hands and tears well up in my eyes. If there was anyone that would believe me, I

thought that it would be Sebastian.

He pulls my hands away from my face.

"Can you show me?" he whispers.

"I don't know." I shrug.

He abruptly stands from the bed, shaking his head.

"This is ridiculous! Do you think I'm an idiot?" he barks, walking towards the door.

"No, Seb. Please you have to believe me!" I beg, standing from the bed.

"I want to, Claire! But I can't because it sounds crazy! Do you realize that? It's fucking crazy!" he yells, slamming his

hand into the wall behind him.

My eyes narrow.

"I am not crazy." I spit, "I have never lied to you."

"And how do I know that if you can't show me?" he spats, opening the front door.

"I don't know how, Sebastian! It just happens, okay! I don't know how to show you!" I yelp, pulling my hands down

my face.

"Then leave." He says calmly gesturing to the open door.

"What?" I gasp, "Are you serious right now?"

"Yes. If you want to come here and lie to me then you can just leave." He answers, gesturing to the door again.

My anger flares and I feel my eyes change color.

"I'M NOT LYING!" I scream, my voice echoing around the small room.

Sebastian sighs, "Claire.....look-"

The dresser in the corner is knocked over and slams to the ground. He stares at the dresser silently, his mouth open in shock. Taking a deep breath, he looks back over at me, but his eyes widen and he leaps away from my, knocking the flimsy front door of its hinges in the process. He manages to trip over the door, and slams to the ground, scrambling away from me.

"What the hell happened to your eyes?!" he gasps, shoving himself back on his hands.

I take a step towards him, "Seb-"

"No! Get away from me!" he yelps, holding his hands up in front of him.

My face falls and my anger immediately disappears.

"I would never hurt you." I mutter, stepping over the door and starting into the forest.

"Wait! Claire!" I hear him call, after I am a few steps away.

He latches onto my hand and spins me around.

"We're not done." He huffs, pulling me back to the den.

I snatch my arm away from him and growl, "You thought I was lying."

"I didn't know, Claire. You have to admit it sounded pretty crazy. I'm sorry." He apologizes, squeezing my hand.

I nod my head, sighing, "Yeah, I guess."

We maneuver over into his den, where we both sit back down on the bed.

"So explain." He says, "Again."

"It's happened before too. When I first met Stephanie, she pissed me off, I got angry, next thing I know, she's flying through the air and then she's pinned to the wall. She didn't come down until I looked away. I didn't really think anything of it. I was hurt and then all that stuff with you happened, but then I met their daughter. I was already on edge, so when I got home tonight, the littlest thing made me snap. Next thing I know she's to counter and the marble is cracked. Then she started screaming about my eyes and I went back to my room. I was still angry and then my books fell over and my lamp smashed. Then I saw my eyes. I freaked and left. And now I'm here." I explain, in a huff.

"Woah....Does anybody else know?" he asks, looking at me for the first time since I started talking.

"No. Not that I know of."

"Okay." He mumbles, getting up from the bed and grabbing his phone.

"Okay? What are you doing?" I say, standing from the bed.

"I know what to do."

"Which is?"

"I'm calling in an old friend."

"Okay....."

"She's a witch."
