Chapter 13 - The Weight Of Choices

Ximena's lips were tucked into her mouth. Her breath went on a slower pace as her gaze fell. Then the glass ball fell from her hand. Tears slipped out of her eyes.

Harriette rushed to her sides and helped her sit on the bed. She paved away the hair from her face, fixing it to her ears.

"Oh my princess! I'm sorry you have to go through all of this...you were kind to them yet they kept it away from you." Harriette said.

"Harriette maybe I should have been kind enough or more..." Tears brimmed and fell. She ran into Harriette's embrace. Harriette caressed her hair.

"It's not in our powers to decide for others. Making the right decision even after they may have chosen the wrong path is the wisest. She disengaged from sthe the hug and wiped her eyes.

"You're right."she gulped down," I don't have to live by their memories anymore. We belong to twos different worlds. I'm from the past so disconnect me from them...." She said placing her hand on Harriette's.

"My princess,I don't think that's the best option for you...."

"For me Harriette, just do it. I will bring justice for this people. I'm ready to climb mountains and valleys . The only thing holding me is to move on from them."

Harriette nodded and left with the glass ball. Ximena exhaled and raised her gown. She took out the diary and flipped through its pages.

Rex took deep breaths as he took the hood off his head and jumped down the horse. It bent to eat the grass. He patted it and entered the bush.

He wandered until he got to the cave. Dark flames with red eyes surrounded him until they paused and varnished. He looked up and saw Luna.

She wore a gown which swept the floor. She had a scepter on her hand. Her face was fine as maleficent," Ford!"

Rex walked up to her and bowed. He tucked her arms behind him and looked downward. "My great great grandmother, Helen is sick and I need to take care of her..."

"I know.."

"I need your help..."

" I know, Ford."

Rex took a deep breath. "There's price for everything if not all won't have value....Ford."

"What do you want from me.."

"Ford, you owe me your life and you will be my servant all of your life..." Tears slipped out of his eyes.

"You've achieved that but right now she needs all the necessary help because the wound from the stab is getting deeper. I fear her death.."

"You've to steal away the heart of the princess. Don't play funny because I'm closer than your breath."

"But I haven't seen her in like forever...so I shall await Helen's death because the mission seems hopeless from my angle."

"That depends on you, have you seen Harriette?."

" She haven't been seen around the palace nor in the market for sometimes now..but I still look forward to finding her hiding place."

Luna laughed and her fangs stood out, she frowned and smirked. " Be ready to attend the serminar, Ford "

"Watch out for the big ludo... it's a gamble , Harriette." She mumble.

Harriette held out the ball and she snapped her fingers at it ; The police handcuffed Valerie to the door but as they approached their car.

The magic eloped and they stared in turmoil. Valerie's eyes widened," Why am I handcuffed."

"I wonder.." One of the men said,

"This is definitely a big mistake ma'am. We apologize for the inconveniences." Harriette released some air and stuck the the ball into her closet.

Ximena slept until the alarm blared closely that she jolted. She took the diary off her face. "I see you've been doing some reading,my princess." Harriette said and threw the sheet off his leg, "There's plenty to learn."

"Now?" Ximena said and narrowed her eyelids. Harriette opened the closet and threw some clothes at her. She caught them as time flew.

Ximena gripped her diary to her chest as she trailed down the hallway alongside with Harriette. It became lighter as they walked.

" Harriette, where are we going?"

" To learn our people, to make fails and not quit." A knight passed them and Ximena greeted but Harriette chuckled, " We're invisible you know?"

"What? How?"

"Why not yell and see if they'd notice or flinch." Harriette said and Ximena kicked a bucket. The knight turned to the sound of bucket. He shrugged and left.

"Oh awesome! This is definitely going to be an adventure."

"In every adventure, there's progression of difficulties and challenges just so you know." Harriette held Ximena's palm,"C'mon we've got a whole lot of places to go..."

Rex rushed into the building. Helen was coughing non stop. Her eyes going shut at each cough that escaped her lips.

Rex sat on his legs and held her, "You've got to be strong for the continuation of our generation. Please force open your eyes just a little longer."

Tears fell from his eyes to her cheeks. Her eyes was almost shut when Luna appeared. She raised her scepter and chuckled. She jolted with just a kick.

"Helen your life lies in Rex's choices. I need him to comply." Rex gulped heavily.

His eyes was red,"I will do it." He said and Luna took the sceptar to his mouth,"I promise to carryout all assignments assigned to me by Queen Luna

Ximena turned as they walked out of the stable. The workers whispered, she rolled her eyes and they narrowed her eyes at her.

" Don't do that, my princess." Harriette gestured," They can see you."

" What?"

"I'm sorry to inform you that your invisibility expired few minutes ago when you fell into the water. It's your battle and I can only serve and be with you like a genie."

" Harriette, a genie?"

Harriette took her lips in and walked to a man. He had a walking stick and a cap. She raised his cap and pushed it back to his head. Ximena laughed and the man shrugged looking away.

" See! I didn't even get noticed."

"Where are we going?"

"To get you trained for the task ahead."

"And why do I feel it is going to be a long day."

" Ever heard the saying about a leader."

"You sound like there's a lot hidden in those words of a phrase."

" That's a way to put it."

They walked to the Palace. Ximena glared around as she approached the massive gates. She turned to look at Harriette. Harriette nodded," knock!"

Ximena stretched up her hand to the gate and hit it hard. It opened and a knight stared at him. Her eyes trailed to his waist where his sword rested.

He raised his eyebrows and Ximena turned to Harriette," I'm here to see the queen mother."

" And who are you?" Came his husky voice.

"I'm who she won't regret meeting..." The knight stared at her feet to her head. She smiled and turned to look at Harriette.

The gate went shut but opened minutes later. The knight stood, stared and nodded then he opened the gate. Harriette entered and Ximena followed1 suit.

" Do you know if the palace needs a servant." Ximena said abruptly. He turned and arched his brows,"Nevermind.."

They got to the entrance, it was broad and we'll decorated with colorful flowers. A pull sat at the center. " Wait here!" He ordered and left.

" What's up with the face, Genie?" Ximena said and Harriette heaved.

" Through out this section of training, expect the unexpected."

" What do you mean by that?"

" I can bet that you can't even lift a finger as a weapon."

"That's the tone that urges people to gamble but I'm in for it. Well, for your information I box and hike too."

Harriette shook her head and Ximena's lips pressed. Ximena back flipped, stretched and kicked. She misses a foot and fell into the water. The water rose and splashed on the queen mother and Leslie.

The knights jaw dropped as Ximena jerked her head off the water. She took her palms to her face and Harriete grinned.

Harriette entered, and Ximena followed suit.

"Do you know if the palace needs a servant?" Ximena asked abruptly.

The knight turned and arched a brow at her.

"Never mind," she muttered, shaking her head.

They reached the entrance, which was broad and adorned with colorful flowers. A fountain sat at the center, its water cascading softly.

"Wait here," the knight ordered curtly before walking away.

"What's with the face, Genie?" Ximena teased, noticing Harriette's expression.

Harriette sighed heavily. "Throughout this section of training, expect the unexpected."

"What do you mean by that?" Ximena asked, her curiosity piqued.

"I can bet you can't even lift a finger as a weapon," Harriette replied, her tone challenging.

"That's the kind of tone that makes people want to prove you wrong, and I'm all for it. For your information, I box and hike too," Ximena shot back confidently.

Harriette shook her head in disbelief, and Ximena's lips tightened in determination. Without warning, Ximena attempted a backflip, followed by a stretch and a high kick. She misjudged her landing, and her foot slipped.

With a loud splash, she tumbled into the water. The force of her fall caused the water to rise and splash onto the Queen Mother and Leslie, who were nearby.

The knights around them froze, their jaws dropping in disbelief as Ximena surfaced, coughing and brushing water from her face.

She covered her face with her palms, mortified, while Harriette stood on the sidelines, grinning from ear to ear.
